Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 267: Volume 4 Chapter 39 Teasing You

Maybe it was because Philip’s teeth weren’t as good as he imagined, or maybe when he saw James he suddenly realized he didn’t want to die in front of James. In any case, his suicide attempt only resulted in a mouthful of blood and a rag stuffed into his mouth by Fatty.

”Messenger, what should our next step be?”

The one asking the question was Sanjad, who had led the main force of the Freedom Front to surround the fighting arena, killing all resisting soldiers and capturing nearly two thousand nobles hiding in the fighting arena trembling in fear.

In other words, more than half of the Gazalin Nobles were now in the hands of the Freedom Front.

Along with capturing James alive and killing Bruce, this victory was enough to make Sanjad and the other two guides immensely famous, as well as to position the Freedom Front as the undisputed leader among the resistance groups in Gazalin.

As long as they could successfully retreat from Abnosk, given Gazalin’s current situation, the Freedom Front would rapidly grow in a short period of time, attracting more and more people. Not just those discriminated against and persecuted ethnic minorities but also those high-ranking ethnic groups who yearned for a free and democratic society.

With the support of the Leray Federation and the downfall of the Gazalin Royal Family, it wasn’t far-fetched that under Russell’s leadership, the Freedom Front would become the largest force in Gazalin.

All of this was unthinkable before today, so the three guides were particularly enthusiastic.

”What to do, are you stupid? Retreat!” Fatty glared, suddenly recalling those movie scenes where they wasted critical moments talking nonsense, only to get caught.

”Since James is here, do you think those coup plotters wouldn’t be concerned?” Fatty pondered whether he should just kill James with one slash as he continued, ”This place is a whirlpool. Don’t be fooled by the chaos outside; the real focus is here. If we don’t run now and wait for everyone to gather, are we all going to have a meal together?”

”There are so many nobles, we can’t possibly take them all,” Oberto found it problematic.

”Who said we have to take them all?” Fatty sighed all over, ”Pick a few important ones, and strip the rest naked and throw them into the fighting arena. Don’t they like it? Let them enjoy it enough.”

”Yes, Messenger.” Oberto grinned before taking a step, but Fatty stopped him: ”Wait, spread the conversation between that guy Philip and James just now, stir things up a bit.”

”Hehe, Reinhardt is actually an illegitimate child.” Oberto’s grin almost reached his ears.

”Messenger, this is the radar information we just received.” An information officer from the transport ship control room ran over gasping for breath and handed Fatty an electronic document.

The radar image in the document clearly showed several transport fleets approaching Abnosk Prison.

”Damn it, whatever you’re afraid of always happens!”

”Is the enemy already here?”

Fatty spat vehemently, ”They wouldn’t dare come straight in. The prison’s anti-air system is under our control now. We must leave here before they form a perimeter around the prison! Go gather the troops, I have to get something first...”

Osullivan, piloting a 2054 model [walker] private Mecha, quietly hid in the bushes. Around him, a company of Mythical Army [Vajra] Mecha formed a circular defensive formation.

They were waiting for Reinhardt’s arrival.

Originally, Osullivan’s orders were to ensure there were no survivors in Abnosk Prison.

However, while still on the transport ship, Osullivan had sent back a message requesting assistance from Reinhardt.

Ensure no survivors?

Hell, the transport ship’s radar was filled with people!

That strange unit, piloting variously modified [Mad Dragon] Mechas with awkwardly painted Mythical Army insignias, moving as swiftly as the wind, could defeat his entire company effortlessly just from observation alone. In fact, if his company were to fight them, the result would only be their total annihilation after destroying five of the enemy Mechas!

Besides being outnumbered by a regiment to his single company, Osullivan believed this unit’s actions bore significant signs of the Mythical Army. Their Mecha controls were even more skilled and aggressive. This was a team he absolutely couldn’t match!

For the first time, Osullivan felt fear.

He didn’t know that what he encountered were soldiers from the Mythical Army, a unit with a service death rate of over 80% over five years, who had survived countless battles and retired healthily.

And this unit had only one loyalty, and that was to Emperor James of the Empire!

Other than that, anyone, or any being, even if they were from the Mythical Army themselves, would be met with the fiercest attack if they stood in the way!

They were elites, not just any elites but battle-hardened elites.

Seeing Reinhardt’s ship slowly descending, Osullivan went up to meet it. Perhaps the Legion Commander had heard of this mysterious unit.

****************************************************

The supreme Emperor of Gazalin, James, was facing the greatest humiliation of his life.

SM-style bondage.

For Fatty, this was entirely a classic and standard binding method.

So, he was meticulously guiding the soldiers to familiarize themselves with this complex yet wonderful rope-using procedure. He didn’t even notice when Ann Lei and Susan walked up to him.

Standing behind Tian Xingjian, watching this guy doing some unrestrained things, Ann Lei had to use all her strength to control herself. She didn’t know if she wanted to cry, laugh, or beat up this Fatty.

The training of the Intelligence Bureau is not just for spies. The training of liaison officers in some parts is even more stringent than that of spies and agents, such as mental control and punishment!

Ann Lei always had the best training results and could endure interrogations equivalent to Grade A.

However, when Ann Lei stood in the fighting arena, watching this man fight in his own way, then stand on the top layer of the arena holding the disappointed and sad Susan, hoping this man would appear in front of her, be caught, and then suddenly rescued by him from the enemy’s hands.

Ann Lei realized that no matter how bad this guy was, her heart had long been stolen by him.

This silly guy could easily make her collapse, finally feel her weakness, make her want to take off her military uniform, put on soft dancing shoes, make her want to give up everything, and stay quietly with him in a place far from the war for a lifetime.

”He really is a Leray spy, isn’t he.” Susan, who had been standing beside Ann Lei, gently asked.

”Susan...”

”You are too, right?” Susan smiled, her beautiful eyes flashing with disappointment.

Ann Lei stared blankly at Susan, unsure how to explain to this kind and beautiful girl in front of her.

There is a pale and cliché phrase that suffices to explain all this, and that is:

War is just that cruel.

But how could Ann Lei say that?

Susan was a flower in a greenhouse, always carefully isolated from the struggles. She was protected by James, and no one could cause her any harm. She was beautiful, kind, pure, lively, and treasured friendships. All the most beautiful human words could be applied to her, and to the entire Gazalin, she was an angel.

Ann Lei turned her head. The same personality and hobbies made her and Susan the best friends. But unfortunately, she was a liaison officer of the Leray Federation Military Intelligence Bureau, and Susan was the Imperial Princess of Gazalin.

War has nothing to do with women. But what about friendship, trust, love, and hate?

They are all mixed up in the whirlpool of war, and no one can escape.

”Mr. Zhang, I beg you, don’t tie him up, okay.” Susan walked to Tian Xingjian’s side and gently pleaded; she couldn’t stand seeing her father humiliated in front of her.

”He... is just an old man.”

Susan’s eyes avoided the trembling James, she looked pitifully at Tian Xingjian.

Fatty turned around surprisingly: ”You are his daughter? The Imperial Princess?” This bastard shouted extremely maliciously to the Freedom Fighters beside him: ”Hurry up, there is another woman here who hasn’t been tied up!”

Ann Lei bit her lip, wanting to shoot this vicious Fatty to death.

”Ajian, she is my friend!”

No matter what, Susan was innocent. After all, she was abandoned by her own father, held at gunpoint by her own brother, and then she found out that her only friend had also deceived her.

Ann Lei’s words did not get Susan’s gratitude; she just gave Ann Lei a cold look and turned her head away.

”It doesn’t matter whose friend she is!” Fatty answered unexpectedly, making Ann Lei doubt if the person standing in front of her was really the Tian Xingjian she knew.

”Unless...” Fatty shook his head neurotically, moving close to James’s ear: ”You give me SkyNet’s highest authority, and I can consider letting your daughter go and allow you a little dignity.”

James almost without hesitation took out an electronic card; it was his authority account and provided the password and network verification instructions. Looking at the proud Fatty, he sneered: ”Now, this thing is useless to me, you don’t actually need to go through all this trouble!”

Fatty patted James’s head like a child, smiling: ”You got it wrong, I just wanted to tease you, that’s my personal hobby.” He winked: ”We all like to enjoy the process, don’t we?”

James closed his eyes. He was very angry that his ears couldn’t be shut like his eyes!

This wretched Fatty clicked his tongue: ”What a pity, actually you have a nice figure, it must look good when tied up. Want to try? I guarantee after trying once, you’ll get addicted!”

I have to admit my mistake. Until two o’clock last night when ADSL was stopped, I never remembered that using this crap thing requires payment. Or I remembered, but I thought the telecommunication company would pay for this crap for me.
