The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1585: Chapter 1585: Whirlpool

Who should enter first, who should retreat...

This is a war.

A war between Star Beasts and humans.

Everyone present had a common understanding: humans must win, they have to win, because once the Star Beasts occupy the entrance of the Space Rift, it would no longer be easy for the remaining humans to enter.

So—

They must win.

Gu Peiyuan’s heart was tense, and so were the hearts of everyone on his spaceship, all ready to provide support. Their spaceship ignored the warnings of the two mosquitoes, continuously accelerating...

Buzz~

Buzz~

Buzz~

The frequency of the mosquitoes’ wing beats got higher, the force stronger, causing more intense storms. A little vortex emerged with the mosquitoes at its center, and suddenly it expanded. The X-N3848 nearby was like a leaf swept away by the autumn wind, powerless to resist, only able to sink gradually with the wind...

Everyone who witnessed this scene felt a tightness in their hearts.

And then.

The spaceship was sucked into the vortex.

Everyone’s eyes narrowed fiercely!

Gu Peiyuan clenched his fists at that moment, waiting, waiting, hoping for some miracle to happen. However, seconds passed, the whirlwind continued expanding, but there was no sign of the spaceship making any counterattack, nor did anyone escape from the vortex.

At this moment—

The humans’ detectors could no longer see what was happening inside the vortex, couldn’t trace the status of the two mosquitoes, nor the condition of the X-N3848 that was sucked in...

The vortex’s influence kept expanding, forcing the approaching fleet to retreat. The entrance to the Space Rift was entirely obscured by the vortex; neither the Star Beasts nor humans could enter.

”What should we do?”

”Should we act now?”

”Captain?”

Gu Peiyuan stood next to the cockpit, watching his teammates panic as they ran over to ask. Right now, the Captain of the spaceship was Li Mengran, a fourth-year student from the Alliance Third Military Academy, and Gu Peiyuan’s senior. She was a black-haired, black-eyed, yellow-skinned girl, whose height and physique seemed ordinary, yet her spiritual power and Physical Strength had reached S-Class. She majored in the Combat Department, with a minor in art appreciation.

Li Mengran had a gentle demeanor, lacking the sharpness of other Combat Department students, giving an impression of someone very reserved. At this time, sitting in the main cockpit, facing the teammates’ restless emotions, Li Mengran remained incredibly calm and said, ”Don’t panic, I know the captain of that spaceship. It’s He Bi.”

”Senior you know him?”

”He Bi? Huh... I heard the captain wasn’t...”

”Wasn’t it Ji You?”

”Why is it He Bi?”

...

In tense moments, most people preferred to chatter, and Li Mengran couldn’t help but twitch her mouth at the comments made by the students from the Third Star System, but it was barely noticeable and quickly vanished.

The massive vortex continued churning, rolling, drawing in everything nearby, crushing and devouring...

Li Mengran, piloting the spaceship, also had to temporarily avoid its edge, retreating the spaceship sideways, not daring to approach the vortex created by the two mosquitoes.

Gu Peiyuan kept his eyes on the monitor, and the image on the screen was already a mess, only the scene of the vortex devouring all the debris remained: Star Beast corpses, planet fragments, cosmic junk...

As for the X-N3848 carrying Ji You and others, it had long entered the vortex’s center, nowhere to be seen, perhaps already crushed into pieces, perhaps ground into mud, perhaps...

But, Gu Peiyuan still kept his composure, explaining to his senior beside him, ”Senior, the captain of the X-N3848 is Ji You. It seems... cough... He Bi voluntarily stepped back.” The words ’power struggle’ that almost slipped from his mouth were swallowed back by Gu Peiyuan.

Thinking of this term, Gu Peiyuan was easily reminded of his own experience of being overpowered in the arena...

Cough, cough.

Gu Peiyuan tucked away his slightly embarrassing feelings, asking in a serious tone, ”Senior, you said you know He Bi? Does he have any special abilities? Or, does he have a way to change the current situation?”

”Oh, so he was overpowered.” Li Mengran said, ”I’ve fought He Bi before, his Physical Strength and spiritual power are very formidable, he won’t die that easily, at least, the people inside that spaceship can’t all be dead. Since they haven’t taken action, they likely have some other means of counterattack. We just need to wait a moment.”

Hearing his senior say He Bi wouldn’t die relieved Gu Peiyuan a bit, but hearing not all would die... made his heart skip a beat; in other words—

The situation of the X-N3848 was very dire?

Li Mengran stroked her chin and said, ”Logically, they could have avoided being caught in the storm entirely. Even though those two mosquitoes are terrifying, it wouldn’t be to the point where they are powerless to act now...”

Her words had not yet landed when suddenly, there was a disturbance in the center of the vortex. Everyone watched with widened eyes as the vortex surprisingly tore open!

Truly!

Visibly torn open, a pitch-black spaceship leaped out from inside, quickly darting away, as the center of the vortex, unbeknownst to what had happened, began to gradually weaken...

Everyone: ”!!!”

What happened?

What’s going on?

Did the X-N3848 solve the two level 12 mosquitoes?

Those were level 12!

Not level 2, level 3! Level 12! Even the military would need to deploy a whole elite unit to possibly overcome it after enduring numerous tough battles.

Remember, possibly, not definitely.

If level 12 Star Beasts were that easily defeated, humans wouldn’t fear Star Beasts like a plague.

So, what exactly happened?

Gu Peiyuan’s heart pounded like a drum: ”Solved? They solved it?!!!”

Li Mengran’s heart, however, sank: ”It’s not that simple.”

”But?” Gu Peiyuan was unwilling to believe, pointing to the spaceship shown in the monitor that sprang out from the vortex, saying, ”Didn’t Ji You and others come out safely?”

Li Mengran hastily maneuvered the spaceship, retreating a bit further, saying, ”The weakening of the vortex doesn’t mean the two level 12 Star Beasts are dead, it could also be that they simply retracted their wings.”

Gu Peiyuan gasped, ”Retracted wings?!!!”

Before Li Mengran’s words fell, everyone watched as that suddenly diminished vortex rapidly faded. All present thought humans finally had the hope of entering first, but just then, the once disorderly vortex instantly disappeared without a trace!

The center of the vortex left only a chaos of swallowed garbage and debris.
