The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1557: Chapter 1557: Award Ceremony

The old principal Feng Zhen’s eyes gathered a new glint of light. He opened his mouth and said, ”Next, I will announce the third matter—”

The first two matters had already made everyone feel pretty awful, and at this moment, everyone’s mood was still stuck in that slump, unable to pull themselves out.

”The third matter is...”

The old principal’s voice was still aged and soft...

On the plaza, all the students raised their heads, looking at the old principal Feng Zhen, waiting for his next words. The old principal Feng Zhen’s body swayed slightly, but it was only for a split second, almost undetectable. He straightened his back again, took a deep breath, and then said, ”I will personally present awards to the students who won prizes in this Alliance interschool league.”

Huh?

Ah?

You mean?

...

Hearing this, Ji You also froze on the spot. She was a bit dumbfounded, and it took her a moment to react. Interschool league? Prize-winning students?

Is... is he talking about her?

Ahem, ahem...

He said ”several students,” so it wasn’t just her. There were also Chu Jiaojiao, Sheng Qingyan and the others.

So?

She was actually getting the privilege of having the old principal personally present her award?

Ji You felt a bit dizzy. She felt her head heavy and her feet light. The ground beneath her was clearly solid, but to her it felt like she was stepping on clouds, making her whole body feel floaty.

That was Ji You’s reaction, and the others didn’t look much more dignified either.

Chu Jiaojiao just raised her hand and grinned foolishly at the old principal on the stage.

Shen Changqing’s eyes shone with a gleam of light, and an abnormal flush crept up her cheeks. Clearly, she wasn’t as calm as she looked.

Yue Qiguang was the high-profile one. When the people around them turned to look, he lifted his chin, curled his lips, patted his chest, and said proudly, ”That’s right, it’s Daddy!”

With a ”smack,” Yue Qiguang’s head was heavily smacked by his younger brother Yue Qiyuan beside him. Yue Qiyuan cursed, ”Shut up. Stop embarrassing our Yue Family.” In an occasion like this, absolutely, absolutely cannot let this idiot of a brother show off everywhere. A brother this stupid is already enough of a disgrace at home, a menace just to their own family. They must definitely not let him out to pollute the outside world.

—Yue Qiyuan thought darkly to himself.

But... award ceremony?

This was his first time receiving a public award in such a solemn setting. He had to maintain good posture and charm thousands of—

Mm.

That settles it.

Yue Qiyuan’s expression remained calm, but he had already made all his arrangements in his heart.

Among everyone, Sheng Qingyan was the one whose words and actions looked the most natural, and his reaction was also the calmest. When he heard that the old principal was going to personally give out the awards, he only found it a bit troublesome. The old man was already wheezing every time he spoke, breaking one sentence into several parts, and still insisting on giving out the awards himself. How could that be okay?

Sheng Qingyan’s beautiful eyes gazed at the old man on the stage, but what he was thinking was that he had to have the treatment instrument in his Space Button ready at any time, so in case the old man toppled over or couldn’t catch his breath later, he could use it in an emergency.

Then.

After making a few brief preparations, Sheng Qingyan continued to keep a straight face, waiting for the old principal to call out names.

A few meters away from Ji You, Liu Fufeng’s eyes were also calm and wave-less, making it impossible to see what he was thinking inside.

...

After saying that, the old principal looked as though his strength had been drained. He waved for Principal Hong behind him to step forward and continue with an award speech.

”Our Lanyue Star Military Academy, from the day it was founded till now, has gone from unknown to advancing into the Top Ten Alliance Schools. Every step along the way has been the result of the joint effort of our beloved teachers and students. Class after class, every single cohort’s effort, I have seen it with my own eyes and remembered it in my heart. And now, the 131st cohort representing our school has already been able to stand proudly in front of those from the Alliance First Military Academy and defeat them one by one! I am proud of you!” Principal Hong looked at all the teachers and students below the stage. After this short but powerful speech, he continued, ”Thank you to these students for their extremely hard-fought battles, which have won glory for our Lanyue Star Military Academy. Today, I am proud of you. In the future, I will also be proud of you.”

Clatter~

A wave of applause rose from the audience.

Clatter~

The applause went on and on.

In Ji You’s chest, a surge of hot blood also rose up.

This was the first time she had heard words of praise from Principal Hong’s mouth. She felt a bit at a loss, but even more so, her blood was boiling.

Deciding to take part in the competition, deciding to enter the finals, deciding to place in the rankings... For all these decisions, Ji You hadn’t thought too much. She just wanted to challenge herself, keep challenging herself, then gain more opportunities, so that in her own hands she could go one step further and obtain the Strength to protect the people around her...

But she had never thought about school honor, nor had she considered the school’s honor...

However, everything she had, aside from her own effort, also came in large part from the teachers’ dedicated nurturing, the support given by the school, and the encouragement and mutual help of the classmates around her...

All of this came from Lanyue Star Military Academy.

...

Even though its rabbit shed stank, the pigsty was filthy, and the cafeteria food often had to be fought for... there was Teacher Mu, Principal Hong, Senior Shi Ya, braised spare ribs, and Alpaca Mengmeng...

More importantly, Ji You loved it.

Ji You loved this school, and she loved the people here.

Ji You felt a little confused. Why was it that when she and Chu Jiaojiao and the others placed in the interschool league, it warranted the old principal personally giving them their awards?

And on top of that, it was in front of the entire faculty and student body, announced as the third matter, right after those previous two such solemn and serious events.

But this didn’t matter. She straightened her chest and looked up at Principal Hong on the stage.

After Principal Hong finished speaking, he said, ”Next, let’s invite the second-place winner of the interschool league, Sheng Qingyan, to come up and receive his award!”

As soon as he finished, the lights on the plaza suddenly focused on Sheng Qingyan, who was currently frowning, wondering whether he should take out the treatment instrument.

Sheng Qingyan instantly became the focal point of everyone’s gaze!

Sheng Qingyan froze.

The big screen captured Sheng Qingyan’s reaction completely.

One second later.

Sheng Qingyan shrugged with a bit of helplessness, then lifted his foot and walked forward. His gait swept away his usual crooked, lazy, unserious look and instead became very proper. Every step, every footprint, was like that of a warrior marching toward the battlefield.

When Sheng Qingyan walked up onto the stage, that face of his—so pretty it was almost bewitching—looked extraordinarily handsome under the spotlight, making countless hearts in the audience tremble.

Then.

Principal Hong personally pinned a big red flower on Sheng Qingyan, hanging it around his neck. At that moment, everyone clearly saw Sheng Qingyan’s lips twitch.

Such a gaudy getup somehow made Sheng Qingyan look even more red-lipped and white-toothed, practically a demon.

The old principal Feng Zhen looked at Sheng Qingyan, a faint smile appearing at the corner of his mouth, and said, ”Sheng Qingyan, thank you for your contribution to the school. Please continue to work hard.”

Sheng Qingyan opened his mouth—

At that moment, down below, Ji You couldn’t help but raise her hand and clamp it tightly over her chest, because she was afraid that the moment this guy Sheng Qingyan opened his mouth, an ”oh” would pop out.
