The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1238: Chapter 1238: Exclusion

Some things should be done sooner rather than later. As soon as Ji You heard that Shaun agreed, she patted her chest and said, ”Boss, rest assured, even if I have to talk until my lips are dry, I will pull in a few allies for you.”

Shaun thought for a moment and said, ”Li Yun, Bai Hui, you go with Ji You.”

The Alliance matters very much. Although they were short-handed, Shaun carefully considered and still allocated two people to Ji You. Hearing this, Ji You immediately smiled with joy and said, ”Boss, it’s just right for Bai Hui and Li Yun to go with me. Their physical strength is great, and in case of any unexpected situations, they can join forces with me to resist.”

Ji You’s lips were pale, and she was panting heavily, looking very frail. Shaun couldn’t help but ask, ”Do you still have the strength to fight now?”

Ji You patted her chest and said, ”In battle, what matters is leveraging one’s strengths against the opponent’s weaknesses. Although my physical strength is completely gone, don’t I still have my brain?” She raised her hand and pointed at her head, ”As long as this works, it’s fine.”

Shaun frowned.

Ji You said, ”In battle, apart from personal bravery, there should be emphasis on teamwork. I have Li Yun and Bai Hui. They are my hands, they are my feet. So, on this mission, I’m not afraid at all.”

After thinking for a moment, Shaun cautioned, ”Don’t be reckless; preserving yourself is most important.”

Upon hearing this, Ji You was so moved she almost cried. Her bright apricot eyes instantly welled up with mist, and seeing this, Li Yun, Bai Hui, and others all felt that Ji You was indeed a person with feelings.

Whoever is good to her, she will be good to them.

Simple and straightforward.

She is someone who can be easily understood at a glance.

Not only did Li Yun and Bai Hui think this way, but Shaun also shared the sentiment at this moment. Deep in his heart, there was even a slight sense of guilt. Of course, sending Li Yun and Bai Hui to accompany Ji You wasn’t just to protect her; an equally important purpose was to provide an added layer of security.

After all, Ji You had just joined the team and was also a team leader from the neighboring squad. They hadn’t worked together before, so her loyalty was still undetermined. Therefore, Shaun didn’t want to entrust such an important matter as discussing cooperation entirely to Ji You; there had to be two of his own people overseeing for him to feel secure.

Thus, he sent two people over, ostensibly to protect, but in reality to monitor.

Now, seeing Ji You’s reaction, it was clear he had been judging a noble woman with the heart of a petty person.

Ji You pounded her chest forcefully and said, ”I, Ji You, will definitely handle this matter well.”

After giving Shaun a hearty warrior’s salute, Ji You turned around and said to Li Yun and Bai Hui, ”Let’s go.”

The two immediately followed.

He Yu, Liu Jia, and Wang Xin watched as Ji You dragged her broken body farther and farther away, feeling a bit lost inside: Now that the boss had left, what should they do?

The boss left without leaving any instructions.

This really put them in a difficult situation.

But despite feeling somewhat at a loss, they were all the most outstanding students selected from each school, and still had the ability to adapt. Watching Ji You leave, though they wanted to say something, they ultimately said nothing.

Then.

Shaun turned around and said to Liu Jia and Wang Xin, ”Xie Haisheng, Chen Junxiu, you two come over here for a moment. Your combat skills are still very good. I’m assigning you to guard the watchtower, about 500 meters from the base. Can you handle it?”

meters...

Close to the base, yet also too far.

Close, because 500 meters isn’t really far. If the two ran at full speed, it would take less than a minute, but this is a guard tower specially built by Shaun and others, intended as a precautionary device to fend off enemy attacks. It’s very concealed, hard to find, and because it was roughly designed, it’s not easy to get in and out. If they encounter special situations, it’s not easy to leave immediately.

On the other hand, too far, because—

A 500-meter distance already moves completely away from the center of the base, where a hidden signal tower stands. What exactly is inside the signal tower, what information it’s receiving, and what Shaun plans to do about it in the future...

These are things Liu Jia and Wang Xin could entirely miss out on.

Moreover, if they were ambushed by an enemy, resulting in major clashes and battles, Liu Jia and Wang Xin on the periphery would be the first cannon fodder.

This move by Shaun definitely had merit.

Hearing this, Liu Jia and Wang Xin were momentarily stunned at the mention of two unfamiliar names, but quickly regained their composure. The two exchanged glances, not showing any obvious displeasure, and instead nodded seriously, ”Boss, we’re on it.”

Seeing their reactions, Shaun naturally understood that they might have guessed some of his inner thoughts. To prevent any hard feelings, Shaun quickly explained, ”You two are unfamiliar with the base and the surroundings. While things are temporarily calm, start familiarizing yourselves from the periphery. Once we find allies, I’ll transfer you to the base.”

Liu Jia raised his hand, scratched his head, and broke into a silly grin, ”Anywhere works. Wherever we are, we fight for the base. Boss, rest assured, Chen Junxiu and I will safeguard the surrounding areas of the base. If anything happens, we’ll report it immediately.”

Shaun smiled and said, ”Thank you for your hard work.”

Liu Jia and Wang Xin wasted no time and left.

Among the people brought by Ji You, only He Yu remained. Having just escaped back to the base, He Yu’s face was still slightly flushed, her breathing rapid, and she looked very exhausted. Seeing Shaun looking at her, He Yu immediately said, ”Boss, please give your orders at any time.”

Shaun thought for a moment and said, ”Wang Rumei, you should technically get some rest now, but we’re pressed for time, and everyone is taking on multiple roles. Can you still hold up? If so, please head to the city gate immediately and report to me if there’s any sign of trouble.”

He Yu stood straight and said loudly, ”Yes.”

Saying this, she limped towards the city gate.

One of Shaun’s teammates, watching this scene, couldn’t help but say, ”Boss, shouldn’t we give them a bit of time to adapt? I’m afraid that arranging things like this for them might brew some rebellion.”

This arrangement by the boss clearly had an element of pushing them out.

The two boys were obviously pushed to the fringes. As for the remaining girls, one named Ji You was sent out to seek cooperation, which we’ll not discuss for now. But the remaining girl with a limp was still assigned to guard the gate, this—

They were already being excluded from the circle.

Shaun heard this and was silent for a moment before saying, ”The signal tower matter is very important. I cannot afford to take any risk. Therefore, anyone I don’t fully trust must be excluded. If they truly have the strength and are aligned with us, they will diligently execute the tasks I’ve assigned them.”
