The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1219: Chapter 1219: Weapon Allocation

Cheng Haoyue, He Yu, and the other two initially thought they came here just to compete, thinking that as long as they gave it their all, everything would be fine. But they never imagined that after arriving, rather than finding the intense battles they imagined, they’d be acting instead?

With the four of them having such poor acting skills, it was truly a struggle for them.

When Ji You led them swaggeringly to the enemy camp, took them down with a single move, and then impersonated the squad leader, his face expressionless and calm while deceiving the newcomers, the four, acting as her followers, didn’t dare utter a single word.

Because they were afraid of slipping up.

Then, with their poor acting skills, making their expressions and movements stiff, to avoid slipping up, they could only pretend to be mute. They really didn’t know what they should be saying or doing throughout.

Luckily, Ji You was quite something, and without needing support from others, she could handle whatever happened with calmness and composure.

Cheng Haoyue’s group wore expressions that were very peculiar, filled with excitement, nervousness, anticipation, but also unease, anxiety, worry...

Cheng Haoyue opened his mouth and said, ”Do we really need to continue to lie low?”

Ji You glanced around and said, ”Is there anyone unwilling? Speak up now. I’m not an authoritarian squad leader. If you’re unwilling, I definitely won’t force you.”

Remembering Ji You’s phrase about ’dead squad leader, living squad leader,’ Cheng Haoyue pursed his lips, then seriously said, ”I want to join!”

He Yu and Wang Xin exchanged a glance, and He Yu said, ”I’ll go as well.”

Before Wang Xin could speak, Liu Jia said, ”Go! Of course I’ll go. I’ve come to the battlefield not to enjoy life but to explore my potential as much as possible, striving to move up!”

Wang Xin gripped the military shovel in his hand and said, ”Of course we have to see it through to the end.” Wang Xin’s skills were considered the lowest among the group, and his weapon, similar to Ji You’s, was a rather useless military shovel.

Ji You chuckled, ”Good. Since everyone is following me, let’s do a good job, I definitely won’t let you suffer.”

Then.

Ji You suddenly asked, ”By the way, who was the fool who didn’t get points just now?”

Cheng Haoyue and others: ”...”

No one responded.

No one wanted to admit they were that fool.

Ji You laughed, ”He Yu.”

He Yu’s face suddenly turned a shade of scarlet, ”I... I’m not, I did get points, don’t talk nonsense.”

As a girl with quite high ambitions, He Yu always thought she had too thin skin, but only at this moment did she realize how thin it truly was; otherwise, why would she be blushing?

Blushing was a sign of a guilty conscience.

”I’m not saying you, it’s just your shy face looks quite cute.” This one sentence made He Yu’s face turn even redder, puffed up like a balloon about to burst, eyeing it as if it might explode, Ji You quickly stopped while she was ahead, then turned to Liu Jia and said with a smile, ”Liu Jia, it’s not shameful not to get points, don’t deny it. But your weapon is indeed the best among all of us, and you didn’t get points, there’s definitely a reason. Do you know why?”

Liu Jia’s weapon was a horse-cutting saber, with its smooth blade and sharp edge, capable of both offense and defense; it was definitely one of the top-tier cold weapons!

The deceived enemies only amounted to four, while their side had five people, which meant not everyone could get a share, inevitably leaving someone empty-handed. Liu Jia hadn’t expected to be the unlucky one.

Thinking it over, Liu Jia felt a bit frustrated and said, ”Is it because I acted too slowly?”

Among two military shovels and a dagger, his horse-cutting saber had barely taken advantage. By the time Liu Jia reacted to draw his saber, the enemies had already turned into ’corpses’, so his saber could only strike air.

”Wrong.”

Ji You said, ”Because you picked the wrong weapon, the horse-cutting saber is very strong, but in your hands, it’s merely a dull knife good enough only for chopping watermelons. Unless you hand over the horse-cutting saber to me.”

Liu Jia’s hand shook, ”You went all this way just to swindle my weapon, didn’t you? I won’t switch.”

He hadn’t forgotten Ji You’s original weapon was just a military shovel.

Ji You kept a straight face and said sternly, ”Your close combat skills are so poor, what are you doing with a horse-cutting saber? Slicing fruit skins with it?”

Liu Jia’s lips twisted, ”But I can’t use a military shovel either. I’m even less skilled with that.”

Ji You handed over her crossbow and directly snatched the horse-cutting saber from Liu Jia’s hands, saying, ”You use this. If I’m not mistaken, your shooting skills are quite decent, hold onto your weapon and stand aside.”

Liu Jia thought about it and realized he wasn’t at a disadvantage at all?

So, holding the crossbow, he happily moved aside.

Witnessing all this, Cheng Haoyue felt a mix of emotions: [Damn! This is my crossbow! Mine!]

In the next second.

Ji You said, ”Cheng Haoyue.”

Cheng Haoyue instinctively replied, ”Here.”

Ji You smiled, ”Good boy.”

Cheng Haoyue’s face darkened, ”You... you, can’t you stop with the teasing?”

Ji You said, ”You’re the squad leader, you can pick a weapon first from all those we’ve seized.”

Cheng Haoyue: ”...”

That word ’squad leader’ indeed hit right where it hurt. If she didn’t mention it, he’d almost forgotten he was the rightful squad leader himself. For a moment, Cheng Haoyue didn’t know what to say, so he said nothing, walked over to the pile of weapons, and chose a bow and arrow, saying, ”I’ll take this.” Fortunately, the feathers from dismantling the drones earlier could be used to make arrows.

Ji You smiled, ”Well done, it’s the weapon you’re good with.” After a compliment, Ji You turned to others, seriously saying, ”Everyone, choose your weapons, don’t focus on choosing the strong ones, but the ones you’re good at, suitable ones. The power of a weapon depends on how you use it, otherwise like Liu Jia earlier, holding onto the best horse-cutting saber yet unable to bite into the juicy prey right in front of him.”

Liu Jia clutched his chest, ”That really stings.”

Ji You glanced at him, then continued, ”He Yu.”

He Yu thought it over, discarded the dagger she wasn’t skilled with, and chose a soft sword from the weapons, saying, ”I’m not good at close combat, nor suited for long-range, but I play well with a soft sword.”

Ji You nodded, then looked at Wang Xin.

Wang Xin flung the military shovel aside, gleefully saying, ”I’ve been wanting to toss this; it’s too cumbersome for killing enemies. When I took down Xia Bingbing earlier, it took a lot of effort.”

Saying this, without hesitation, he picked up a curved saber.

The four of them chose suitable weapons, feeling delighted, never considering that the first thing Ji You did upon returning to camp wasn’t hastily getting the newcomers to obey her as squad leader nor indulging in pride but redistributing the weapons.

Indeed, this act hit them right in their hearts.

And the four later members who arrived at Crooked Neck Tree camp, witnessing this scene, couldn’t help but look at each other:

——Who is the squad leader exactly?
