The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1237: Chapter 1237: Imminent Crisis

Ji You asked all the questions Shaun wanted to ask, both to divert Shaun’s attention and to relieve He Yu’s pressure.

He Yu, this kid, his acting skills are actually quite average. If he can’t withstand the pressure and exposes himself, it will be a complete loss.

Upon hearing Ji You’s questions, the pressure in He Yu’s heart suddenly decreased, and the slightly chaotic thoughts quickly got sorted out. She answered all the questions Ji You raised, one by one.

He Yu said, ”Jiang Sen and I have different opinions. I want to retreat immediately, but he doesn’t want to. He wants to sneak into the enemy camp to kill the enemy, so we had a disagreement. The order I received was to return within 20 minutes, so I didn’t wait for Jiang Sen and went back directly. Unexpectedly, I hadn’t gone far, just 500 meters, when I heard there was fighting over at the enemy camp. It was Jiang Sen entangled with two of their people, clearly showing signs of being overwhelmed. I originally wanted to leave immediately, but couldn’t harden my heart, so I ran towards the enemy’s camp. I had barely run a few steps when an arrow flew towards me, almost shaving my head off. That’s when I discovered there were archers in the enemy camp!”

In the era of cold weapons, archers are almost the strongest combat force.

He Yu clutched her heart, still scared, and said, ”I knew this wasn’t good. We were ambushed by the enemy. They must have discovered us and deliberately exposed only two people to confuse us. In fact, there were at least five people guarding their camp at that time.”

Hearing He Yu’s words, Ji You frowned and asked, ”The enemy outnumbers you, how did you escape?”

He Yu raised her hand, wiped her face, and pointed to the clothes behind her with a small hole in them, saying, ”As soon as I realized this wasn’t good, I dared not linger. I immediately started running, but the enemy shot arrows quickly. One arrow aimed directly at my back head. I acted decisively, lifted my jacket up to cover my head, and rolled. Only then did I escape.

That’s how the jacket got a tear.”

Listening to He Yu’s account, Shaun looked at the hole in her jacket and found it indeed existed, so he stayed silent.

He Yu continued, ”Because I was already quite a distance from the enemy camp, and the enemy camp doesn’t have walls like ours, plus the terrain is low, I avoided several deadly arrow shots.”

”The scratches on my face are from falling.”

”The crack at the corner of my mouth is also from scraping.” Speaking of this, He Yu’s face slightly reddened, and her voice lowered a bit, saying, ”I kept running and fell a few times along the way. They were just light superficial injuries, but when you’re unlucky, even drinking cold water gets stuck between your teeth, and I accidentally fell down a slope, which injured my foot and swelled my face.”

He Yu’s voice showed both annoyance and anger, clearly very upset.

Upon hearing her words, the other students present, along with Shaun, fell into silence.

”The enemy’s Team 9, calculated precisely, is less than 30 kilometers away from our position. Additionally, Teams 7 and 8 have no one left. When we went to Team 9 and didn’t find them, it means Teams 7 and 8 probably went to Team 6 for support.” He Yu quickly answered some questions, then continued, ”At Team 9, Jiang Sen and I advanced to investigate but found no one along the way. Even if Team 9 suddenly attacked us, their personnel actually wasn’t abundant. I roughly estimated that at that time, there were only 4 people inside the enemy camp. 2 people entangled with Jiang Sen, 1 person chased after me, and another archer assisted from hiding.”

Upon hearing this, Ji You suddenly asked, ”So you’re saying that Teams 7, 8, and 9 have hardly any people? Then where do you guess these people went?”

As soon as these words came out, everyone’s face changed.

Wang Xin opened his mouth, with eyes wide open, and said, ”Could they have joined forces?”

His words expressed what was on everyone’s mind.

Ji You glanced at Wang Xin, secretly nodding: [On the right track.]

Then, Ji You narrowed his eyebrows slightly, saying, ”It’s impossible that all these people were eliminated. The only explanation is that someone led them, organized them all. In such a short time, their main force definitely won’t transfer, so they must either be at Team 6 or Team 10.”

This is definitely not a good predicted outcome.

Moreover—

Ji You said, ”Who organized them? The enemy’s commander? The army leader? Or...”

Upon hearing Ji You’s words, Shaun and others’ faces changed.

This is the worst prediction.

Because, if it really is the higher-up on the other side that organized and integrated them, then the enemy camp is no longer scattered and disorganized, but has organization, management, action guidelines...

On the contrary, our side’s higher-ups have been silent; each lower-level team does its own thing. To describe it as scattered sand would be an overstatement.

Shaun said, ”Did you see any special devices in the enemy camp during your reconnaissance, like communication methods or high-end weapons... things like that?”

He Yu bit her lip, saying, ”Didn’t find high-end weapons in the enemy camp; their weapons should be on par with ours. Special devices... haven’t been discovered yet. But! At Team 9’s camp, where Jiang Sen sacrificed, we found a very simple stone house, seemingly guarded with focus. Jiang Fang wanted to investigate inside, which led to his sacrifice.”

Hmm?

Shaun’s heart moved: ”Did you see what exactly was in that stone house?”

He Yu shook her head, saying, ”We were a bit far away at that time, didn’t clearly see what was inside, and there were two people guarding it specifically; we didn’t dare to get too close to observe.”

Having said everything needed, Shaun dismissed her, saying, ”You’ve done well, go rest for now.” Being able to escape successfully from the enemy’s chase shows this girl’s ability isn’t bad.

Worth pulling in.

He Yu: ”Yes.”

Shaun nodded and continued, ”We’ll put Jiang Sen’s matters aside for now; we need to adjust our state quickly here, be ready to fight at any time—”

Everyone’s hearts tightened, responding in unison, ”Yes.”

Shaun’s brow furrowed tightly; the news this Wang Rumei girl brought back was mostly bad news, but it wasn’t entirely useless because at least the enemy camp has started personnel integration.

So then—

Shaun turned to Ji You, saying, ”Ji You, you mentioned representing the camp to negotiate cooperation with other teams; when do you plan to set off?” The enemy has already united and formed a large force, sooner or later, will come to initiate a battle... Our side is weak and cannot afford to fight alone; we need to unite with others. This matter is already urgent.

Yo?

Ji You listened, feeling instantly happy inside, but he still kept a straight face, saying, ”Right now!”
