Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

Silas Blackwood’s remarks undoubtedly offended many people, and most of the shareholders were extremely displeased.

Before the shareholders could even say anything, it was Silas Blackwood who left impatiently.

Silas Blackwood had a business dinner that evening. A company hoping to partner with the Blackwood Group had invited him to a private club for drinks. They even arranged for a few beautiful women to be there, hoping to curry favor through unofficial channels.

Although Silas Blackwood wasn’t particularly interested in other beautiful women at the moment—he currently had a thing for Ivy Sherwood—Ivy wouldn’t give him the time of day.

Seeing these beauties press up against him, Silas Blackwood put on a show of refusing them a couple of times. But their perfume was just too intoxicating. They were gorgeous, with fantastic figures, and wearing next to nothing. Soft and pliant, they burrowed into his embrace as if they were boneless.

Moreover, their fair, delicate hands began to caress his chest. Having gone without release for quite some time, Silas Blackwood started to feel his desires stir. He didn’t push them away, instead letting them wait on him.

Once Silas Blackwood was sufficiently comfortable and pleased, he agreed to whatever terms the other party proposed, and just like that, the contract was signed.

The private rooms at the club were suites, with an outer area for business and an inner room for rest.

The other party left with the signed contract, leaving several beautiful women behind and instructing them to take very good care of Young President Beckett.

’Previously, everyone called him Young Master Blackwood, a title that made Silas Blackwood feel like a useless, rich heir. But now, they were calling him Young President Beckett. Wasn’t this an acknowledgment of his capabilities?’

’Silas Blackwood was very pleased with this title. One day, he’d make them drop the ”Young” from it.’

”Young President Beckett, let’s go chat in the other room. We sisters have plenty of other talents to show you. We guarantee you’ll be pleased.”

Silas Blackwood was so captivated he couldn’t think straight. He forgot everything, wanting only to drop his pants and get down to it.

’Anyway, he and Ivy Sherwood weren’t engaged anymore. Liking her was one thing, but he couldn’t short-change himself. This wasn’t cheating or anything.’

Silas Blackwood enjoyed himself with these women, his conscience clear, completely unaware that photos of the entire evening had already been taken and sent out.

Ivy Sherwood received a message from Quentin Blackwood. She tapped it open and saw a photo of Silas Blackwood.

The photo depicted a scene of pure debauchery. Silas Blackwood had a beautiful woman on his lap and his arm wrapped around another.

The woman’s skirt was very short, and Silas Blackwood’s hand was already up it. The whole scene was utterly disgusting.

”A few photos, on the house. No need to thank me.”

Ivy Sherwood looked at the photos, feeling nothing at all. She knew exactly what kind of dog Silas Blackwood was, after all.

She had no feelings for Silas Blackwood, so the pictures didn’t affect her in the slightest. Without a second thought, she forwarded them to Anna Nash.

’It would be good to get a rise out of Anna Nash, too.’

After forwarding them, Ivy Sherwood saw Quentin Blackwood’s phone number and sent a message: ”Are you busy?”

”Not busy.”

”Is it okay if I call, then?”

Her message had barely gone through when a call from Quentin Blackwood came in. ”What did you want to talk about?”

”It’s nothing much. I just had a few questions about finance that I couldn’t figure out, so I was hoping to ask you.”

”Hm. Go ahead.”

Ivy Sherwood explained her problems to Quentin Blackwood. Even though she’d spent the past few days preoccupied with how to retrieve her mother’s ashes, she hadn’t slacked off on studying investment proposals and learning about finance.

She was a quick study, but it was inevitable that she would run into many questions. Since Quentin Blackwood happened to still be awake, she decided to ask him.

Quentin Blackwood answered Ivy’s questions, using the simplest terms to help her grasp and fully understand complex concepts.

...

Meanwhile, Joy Sheridan was also trying to call Quentin Blackwood. It had been a long time since she’d last spoken with him.

Ever since that time she’d used her grandfather’s phone to call Quentin in the middle of the night and heard a woman’s voice in his room, Joy Sheridan had been unable to sit still.

She was dying to fly to Lustre immediately, but her grandfather wouldn’t allow it.

She had secretly looked into Quentin’s circle and found no sign of any woman.

If she hadn’t heard it so clearly with her own ears, she would’ve thought she had imagined the whole thing.

’He’s in his late twenties, after all,’ Joy Sheridan tried to rationalize when her investigations turned up nothing. ’It’s normal for a man to have a woman or two on the side.’

’She told herself that as long as Quentin was just scratching an itch, and as long as that woman had no real influence on him, then it was fine.’

But she was still deeply worried. With Quentin staying in Lustre for so long and not returning, she was truly starting to panic.

And now, when she tried calling him, his line was busy. ’How can that be?’

’Is he working? Quentin is so busy, he’s probably still at it.’

Joy Sheridan waited patiently for a while, then tried again. He was still on the call.

’It’s been half an hour. Is he still not done?’

Joy Sheridan waited a little longer. An hour passed. He was still on the call.

’Joy Sheridan couldn’t wait any longer. Who in the world was Quentin talking to? She had to know!’

She called Zane Linton to ask what Quentin was doing.

However, Zane Linton replied that it was after work hours, and he wasn’t privy to what President Blackwood was doing.

Having learned nothing, Joy Sheridan felt a deep sense of unease. She didn’t know anyone else in Lustre. After a moment’s thought, she dialed Ivy Sherwood’s number.

’That Ivy Sherwood hadn’t even bothered to help her before. And now, with the news of her broken engagement to the Blackwood Family causing such a stir, Joy felt that Ivy was someone who didn’t know what was good for her. Silas Blackwood might be a bit of a scumbag, but for someone with Ivy’s background, marrying him was a huge step up.’

’She also found Ivy to be completely intractable, unable to read the room or recognize her own place. She herself had extended an olive branch, and Ivy hadn’t even had the sense to properly suck up to her.’

When Joy Sheridan called, she discovered Ivy Sherwood’s line was also busy.

’Why were both of them on the phone? It’s late at night. Who could they possibly have so much to talk about with?’

Suddenly, a bold guess formed in Joy Sheridan’s mind. ’Could it be... that the person Quentin is on the phone with... is Ivy Sherwood?’

Joy Sheridan’s heart gave a violent lurch. Her eyes narrowed, staring sharply ahead.

’That Ivy Sherwood... she couldn’t possibly be so clueless as to have set her sights on Quentin, could she?’

’After all, Quentin was so exceptional, so handsome—a true favorite of the heavens.’

’Could Ivy have been using her status as Silas’s fiancée to get close to Quentin this whole time?’

’If Ivy really dared... she would personally snap her neck!’

Joy Sheridan’s fists clenched, her eyes burning with deep jealousy. She immediately ordered her people to continue investigating Ivy’s movements, to see if her schedule had ever overlapped with Quentin’s.

’Joy assigned more people to the task. That woman in the room with Quentin that night... she had to find out who it was!’

Quentin and Ivy talked on the phone for a long time. Ivy had two more questions, but Quentin cut in, ”It’s getting late. You should get some sleep.”

Only then did Ivy realize how long they had been talking.

”Wow, it’s so late. I’ve learned so much. If you ever lose your job, you could totally open a tutoring center!”

”Is that you cursing me?”

”Of course not! I would never wish unemployment on you. Well then, goodbye, Professor Blackwood. Good night, Professor Blackwood!”

’Professor Blackwood. Heh.’

A soft chuckle suddenly came from the other end of the line. Ivy had been about to hang up, but hearing Quentin’s low laugh—like a feather tickling the inside of her ear—her hand hovering over the screen froze in place.
