Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

”Of course not.” Ivy Sherwood sat up straight, her bright eyes fixed on him. ”It’s just that I did something without discussing it with you first. When I went to break off the engagement, I used the ten percent of Blackwood Group’s shares as a bargaining chip. That’s why Caleb Blackwood was so quick to agree.”

Even though Quentin Blackwood didn’t want the shares, she felt she still should have told him.

”Mm,” Quentin Blackwood nodded lightly.

Ivy Sherwood saw his expression was as calm as ever. ”You’re not mad?”

”Why would I be mad?” Quentin Blackwood retorted. ”I told you, they’re yours. You can do whatever you want with them.”

Ivy Sherwood suddenly wanted to award Quentin Blackwood the ”Good Guy” trophy. He was truly a wonderful person.

’It was a real miracle for someone as upright and pure as Quentin Blackwood to emerge from an environment like the Blackwood family!’

Ivy Sherwood opened her mouth, but before she could say anything, Quentin Blackwood spoke. ”No need for thanks. I’d rather have something more... tangible.”

The tips of Ivy Sherwood’s ears turned bright red. ’Tangible... Of course, she knew what he meant by that.’

’I take back the ”Good Guy” trophy. Quentin Blackwood is a complete scoundrel!’

”And what if I don’t give you anything?”

Quentin Blackwood’s gaze simply rested on her, as if to say, ’You can try me.’

They continued their meal, and a short while later, Quentin Blackwood asked, ”When do you plan on transferring the shares you hold to Caleb Blackwood?”

Ivy Sherwood chewed on her chopsticks. ”Caleb Blackwood seems to be in quite a hurry.”

Quentin Blackwood sneered. ”Of course that old fox is in a hurry.”

”Stall for a while. Don’t rush it. I’ll have Zane Linton find you a couple of experts in the relevant field. You can entrust this matter to them without worry.”

”Okay!” Ivy Sherwood trusted Quentin Blackwood unconditionally. Whatever he said, went.

”You don’t have any objections?”

Ivy Sherwood shook her head. ”I trust you.”

The corners of Quentin Blackwood’s mouth curved up. ”Trust me? Aren’t you afraid I’ll sell you out?”

Ivy Sherwood said, ”I’ve told you before, if you really do sell me, remember to give me half the money!”

’Ivy Sherwood didn’t know much about stocks, but she certainly didn’t think she was worth more than ten percent of the company’s shares. If Quentin Blackwood really wanted money, he would have taken those shares back long ago.’

After they finished their meal, Quentin Blackwood asked, ”Want to go for a walk?”

Ivy Sherwood shook her head. ”Maybe not.”

”Don’t all you girls like to go shopping?”

”Just how many girls has President Blackwood been shopping with?”

”None.” Quentin Blackwood’s reply was swift. He barely had time to rest, let alone go shopping.

”Liar,” Ivy Sherwood muttered under her breath.

’Didn’t he go shopping with that Joy Sheridan last time? I saw them.’

”Liar about what?”

Ivy Sherwood looked up in surprise. ’I said that so quietly, how did he hear me?’

”Nothing,” Ivy Sherwood shook her head.

”Speak.” Quentin Blackwood’s single word was full of authority.

’Ivy Sherwood could say whatever was on her mind. There was no need for misunderstandings or unspeakable things between them.’

”Last time Nina and I were in Aethelgard, we went to the commercial district for a walk. I happened to see you and Joy Sheridan at the mall. President Blackwood said he’s never gone shopping with a girl. If that’s not a lie, what is?” Toward the end, Ivy Sherwood spoke very cautiously.

’She and Quentin Blackwood didn’t really have a defined relationship, so she had no right to question him.’

’She hadn’t wanted to say anything in the first place. Saying it out loud like this made her sound like she was jealous.’

If Ivy Sherwood hadn’t brought it up, Quentin Blackwood would have completely forgotten about it.

’Besides, in his mind, that didn’t even count as going shopping with Joy Sheridan. They weren’t browsing for long—they just went to that one jewelry store.’

’In other words, it was more like he was accompanying Old Master Sheridan.’

”That doesn’t count. I wasn’t shopping with her.”

”In that case, I wonder if I might have the honor of inviting President Blackwood to go shopping with me today?”

Quentin Blackwood struggled to keep the corners of his lips from turning up, trying to look indifferent.

”I happen to have some time today. Since you’re inviting me so sincerely, I suppose I can reluctantly accompany you.”

Ivy Sherwood giggled to herself. ’Quentin was being a little proud and contrary today.’

Soon, the two left the restaurant. Next to it was a pedestrian street, bustling with activity in the evening.

’Ivy Sherwood didn’t know if Quentin Blackwood had ever been to a place like this. Compared to a large shopping mall, this kind of lively atmosphere, full of the hustle and bustle of everyday life, sometimes offered a more authentic taste of the world.’

Although Quentin Blackwood seemed completely out of place here, Ivy Sherwood still dragged him along.

The pedestrian street was quite long. Besides lots of food stalls, there were also many little trinkets for sale.

”Nina and I used to come here to eat all the time. It’s cheap, you get a lot for your money, and it’s delicious. But we’re full today. I’ll bring you here to eat next time.”

’Ivy was already thinking about ’next time’? She sure thought ahead!’

’But Quentin Blackwood wasn’t averse to it at all. If that’s what she wanted to think about, then he’d let her think about it as much as she liked.’

Ivy Sherwood observed Quentin Blackwood’s expression and saw that he looked as calm as ever, not at all displeased with the place.

’A young master like Silas Blackwood would never come to a place like this.’

Perhaps because it was the weekend, most people weren’t working and had come out for a stroll, so it was even more crowded than usual.

People were coming and going, making it extremely crowded.

Ivy Sherwood almost lost Quentin Blackwood in the crowd. Luckily, he was tall, and with his out-of-place demeanor and uniquely powerful aura, he was easy to spot in the crowd.

’Otherwise, with so many people, she’d never have found him.’

Ivy Sherwood quickly squeezed through to Quentin Blackwood’s side, her face full of sincerity. ”You have to stick close to me, okay? It’s easy to get separated.”

Quentin Blackwood’s hand twitched. He had just started to extend it, intending for Ivy Sherwood to take it, but she didn’t see a thing and just kept walking forward.

Quentin Blackwood: ”...”

’She knows it’s easy to get lost, so why isn’t she holding his hand?’

Then, not two minutes after she’d said that, she got separated from Quentin Blackwood again.

Ivy Sherwood found Quentin Blackwood again, but not long after, she turned around and the person beside her was gone again.

’Great, separated again!’

After Ivy Sherwood found Quentin Blackwood for the third time, she went right up and took hold of his hand. ”If you don’t mind, I think I’d better hold on to you.”

Seeing that Quentin Blackwood only twitched his brow but didn’t say anything, Ivy Sherwood grew bold and firmly took his hand.

His skin was cool to the touch, his palm icy, while Ivy Sherwood’s hand was warm.

Ivy Sherwood’s hand was small, while Quentin Blackwood’s was especially large.

’If holding hands during *those moments* counted, then she and Quentin Blackwood had already held hands countless times.’

The two of them strolled together, not walking quickly.

Quentin Blackwood lowered his deep-set eyes, looking at their joined hands, one large and one small. Suddenly, he felt a little reluctant to let go, wanting to hold on like this forever.

A flicker of struggle crossed his eyes, but ultimately, his reason gave way. This was the ”last time”—a promise Quentin Blackwood had made to himself countless times before.

He had always been a man of his word, but on this one matter, he had never succeeded.

Every time he told himself it was the last time, but there was always a next time.
