Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

Silas Blackwood hadn’t been home in days, staying in a hotel instead.

After such a huge mess, he was even more afraid to go back. His father would surely kill him.

His father still didn’t know about the shares. He was on good terms with someone in the registry department, and it was only after a mix of threats and promises that the matter was kept under wraps.

He planned to find an opportunity to see Ivy Sherwood and privately get her to transfer the shares back to him.

If his father found out he had transferred his shares to Ivy Sherwood, he’d probably be skinned alive.

Just as Silas Blackwood was about to go to the hospital to find Anna Nash and demand she abort the baby—even if she was live-streaming a sob story, that child could not be born.

Having seen Anna Nash’s true colors, he now realized how terrifying the woman was. There was no way he would marry her. Not only did he no longer like her at all, he was utterly disgusted by her.

Silas Blackwood had just gotten out of his car, preparing to head to the hospital room, when he was stopped by a group of men in black. ”Young Master, the Chairman wants to see you at the company.”

Silas Blackwood’s heart sank. ”I’ll go, but I have something else to take care of right now. Go tell my father that I, Silas Blackwood, am not hiding.”

”The Chairman requests the Young Master’s presence now.”

Silas Blackwood was already in a foul mood and roared, ”Are you all deaf? Didn’t you hear what I said?”

The men in black moved at once, seizing Silas Blackwood. ”Forgive us, Young Master.”

Silas Blackwood was practically dragged to the company. The old shareholders hadn’t left yet, and when they saw Silas, they all started talking at once.

”Silas, did you really transfer your shares to someone else?”

”Silas, what on earth is going on? How come we didn’t hear anything about this? You’ve been so foolish.”

Hearing this, Silas Blackwood, who had been full of anger, grew even more panicked. ”You... how do you all know?”

’I covered it up so well, how could they possibly know?’

”Your father is in the conference room with that woman right now. He’s definitely furious. You should get in there.”

”What woman? Who?” Silas Blackwood hadn’t expected this to be exposed so quickly.

He rushed to the conference room, pushed the door open, and saw Caleb Blackwood and Ivy Sherwood.

Whenever his father was angry, he always felt terrified and timid.

Clearly, his father was radiating fury now, even angrier than the time he’d whipped him.

And yet, Ivy Sherwood was surprisingly calm, even sipping water, seemingly not the least bit afraid of his father.

”Dad...” Silas Blackwood called out weakly.

Caleb Blackwood’s eyes were practically spitting fire. Silas was thoroughly frightened. ”Dad, you... you know everything?”

”You bastard!” Caleb Blackwood slapped him right across the face.

Silas Blackwood was completely unprepared. He lost his balance, and his head slammed against the glass door with a loud THUD.

The other shareholders watching the drama from the side were startled. Knowing the Chairman was angry, none of them dared to approach.

”Dad, I was wrong! I really know I was wrong!” Silas Blackwood quickly knelt on the floor.

But Caleb Blackwood wasn’t satisfied and kicked him. If Caleb had been holding back when he used the whip before, he was now using every ounce of his strength.

Silas was knocked to the ground, feeling as if the kick had ruptured his liver. He immediately scrambled back to his knees, his posture perfectly straight and proper.

”Dad, don’t be angry. It’s not good for your health,” Silas Blackwood said, clinging to Caleb Blackwood’s leg.

How could Caleb Blackwood not be angry? Ivy Sherwood now held so much leverage, and it was obvious she had come today full of confidence.

The engagement, he feared, could not be saved today.

Caleb Blackwood took a deep breath. After kicking Silas Blackwood viciously several more times, he finally spoke. ”Is the stuff online also true?”

”I don’t know, Dad. I haven’t had a chance to see Anna yet. Don’t worry, Dad, I definitely won’t let this child be born. I’ll listen to you. I’ll marry Ivy Sherwood, isn’t that what you want?”

’He was willing to marry Ivy Sherwood now. As long as he married her, even if she refused to return the shares, she would still be part of the Blackwood Family. Her money would be their family’s money.’

”Silas Blackwood, I just told Uncle Blackwood that if we call off the engagement, I will return your shares in full. How you live your life and how many children you have will have nothing to do with me. But if the Blackwood Family refuses to annul the engagement, then I’ll have no choice but to donate these shares.”

”I know you probably have a million ways to make a person disappear from this world without a trace. But the fact that I came here proves I’m not afraid. I’ve already prepared a will. If I don’t walk out of here today, all assets under my name will be donated immediately.”

For her, not ending the engagement was no different from being dead anyway.

Ivy Sherwood had come here today with no intention of leaving until this matter was settled.

Besides, even if the Blackwood Family wanted to, they couldn’t get rid of her quietly. Thanks to Anna Nash, she was now semi-famous online. With so many people watching, Ivy had naturally made her own preparations.

If she died, Nina would publicize the matter relentlessly. It remained to be seen if the Blackwood Family could withstand that kind of pressure.

The fire Anna Nash had started was burning brightly; she had done a more brilliant job than Ivy could have imagined.

The Blackwood Family had been all over the internet recently, all of it negative press that Caleb Blackwood couldn’t suppress. Now, no matter what the Blackwoods did, millions of eyes were watching.

Comparatively, annulling the engagement was the best choice—and the one with the least fallout.

Or rather, she hadn’t given Caleb Blackwood a choice at all.

”Ivy Sherwood! You vicious woman! You’re the one who set me up, aren’t you?” Silas Blackwood was still kneeling on the floor. If he hadn’t been, he probably would have lunged forward and grabbed Ivy by the throat.

Caleb Blackwood let his hands fall to his sides, not even bothering to look at Silas on the floor.

The atmosphere in the office was suffocating and oppressive. After a long moment, Caleb Blackwood finally spoke. ”Fine. I agree.”

”Dad, what are you agreeing to?” Silas asked in disbelief.

Caleb Blackwood seemed to age several years in an instant. His normally sharp, shrewd eyes were now filled with weariness. ”The Blackwood Family always honored this engagement. Seeing that your mother had passed away and that you were not living well with the Sherwood Family, we wanted you to marry into our family so you could live a life of comfort, free from worry.”

Even now, Caleb Blackwood was putting on an act, pretending he had only ever wanted what was best for Ivy.

”It seems I was mistaken. You young people have your own ideas. Ivy, I only hope you won’t live to regret what you’ve done today.”

”I won’t regret it,” Ivy said without a hint of hesitation. Ending the engagement had been her wish all along.

She had been struggling for so long, and now her wish was finally coming true.

”Very well. Since neither of you is willing, the engagement between you and Silas is hereby annulled.”

Hearing those words, Ivy Sherwood let out a huge sigh of relief. She had never felt so light.

It was as if a heavy stone that had been crushing her, making it hard to breathe, had finally been lifted.

It was as if she had been brought back to life. She could finally be herself.

In her small world, the overcast sky had suddenly cleared, and the sun could finally shine through.
