Reborn As Super Heiress

During dinner, Zhou Shitao and Ji Kun couldn’t wait to bring out the paper Huo Sining had written before. The paper was marked with numerous annotations and notes, indicating the master and apprentice duo had been busy doing their homework over the past two days.

Zhou Shitao voiced his doubts, which Huo Sining answered meticulously. She even cited classics, listing small details from ancient books that are often overlooked. While these details seemed insignificant at first, they became extremely important when synthesized, leaving Zhou Shitao dumbfounded and genuinely convinced.

Zhou Shitao had initially doubted Huo Sining’s hypothesis, as Fucheng, a coastal area, was outside the Han Dynasty’s territory at that time. How could a large Han Dynasty Princess’s Tomb appear here? It seemed absurd.

Yet, after Huo Sining’s deductions, Zhou Shitao was persuaded by her evidence.

”You’re so sure; have you already conducted a survey?” Zhou Shitao asked.

Huo Sining smiled and said, ”Master, your question is a bit much. I’m your apprentice, and you’re testing me too? You should have visited today as well, and you likely noticed the places I deduced are all within Fucheng City. Everywhere is lined with towering concrete buildings. Where would I start surveying? Even if I had immense skills, I couldn’t restore the original appearance of the ground. There’s no way to discern anything.”

Zhou Shitao’s subtle intentions were directly exposed by Huo Sining’s words, making him somewhat uncomfortable. However, he quickly responded earnestly:

”Don’t try to fool your master. I know your character well. If you weren’t absolutely sure, you wouldn’t write this paper for me and certainly wouldn’t fax it to me.”

”I’ve indeed visited all those places. As soon as I landed, I took your senior brother to survey the four locations. Buildings and concrete highways are everywhere, offering no discernible geomorphic features.”

”Ordinary Feng Shui Masters might not see anything significant, but you’re different. You can definitely see something else.”

Zhou Shitao stared at Huo Sining intently, with a look suggesting he wouldn’t let it go without an explanation.

Huo Sining had already thought through her words. She knew they might sound astonishing, but Zhou Shitao had been in the antiques circle for years, having seen all sorts of strange things. She believed others might not trust her, but her master certainly wouldn’t doubt her.

”Alright, I’ll tell you. Honestly, I’m not entirely sure, but I’ve researched a lot about old news in Fucheng and some local rumors over the past two days. I think this is worth studying.”

”Of the four locations, the others had nothing unusual, so I ruled them out. But in the Anmin Alley area, which faces the sun and doesn’t have dense trees, walking through it feels uncomfortable.”

”Though it’s winter, the weather in Fucheng has been nice these days. Walking on other streets, I felt the warm sun, but stepping into Anmin Alley felt eerie and cold. Ordinary people might not notice, but since I study Kanyu, the feeling is more intense. There’s a heavy Yin presence and something strange. I suspect an underground Gathering Yin Formation beneath that tomb.”

Upon hearing Huo Sining’s words, Yue Shuwen, Gu Xu, and Ji Kun exchanged glances, while Zhou Shitao turned solemn, with a deep gaze at Huo Sining, asking sternly:

”Are you sure? If there’s a mistake, it could cause trouble.”

Huo Sining shook her head and said, ”I’m not wrong. I’ve researched cases in Fucheng over the years, like a school bus suddenly losing its brakes, resulting in the tragic death of all the children aboard; people being killed while drilling a well; or others being struck by falling flowerpots unexpectedly—most of these eerie cases happened around Sanfang Street.”

”Residents in Anmin Alley also say it’s a forbidden place where moving the soil leads to trouble. The houses there are decades old, but no one dares rebuild them. They can only wait for government demolition plans.”

Speaking of this, Huo Sining took out her paper, pointing to a section:

”Putting everything else aside, see here, doesn’t it mention the Princess’s Tomb having a large burial site accompanying it, with nearly 500 people buried? I suspect an underground Gathering Yin Formation here. The purpose is to trap the souls of the deceased within the formation, preventing them from harming the world.”

”Though the Gathering Yin Formation effectively traps the tomb’s spirits, it has side effects, causing a significant change in the area’s Feng Shui. With Yin dominating over Yang, all sorts of unclean things gather here uncontrollably, leading to frequent strange accidents.”

After hearing Huo Sining’s explanation, Zhou Shitao fell silent for a long time.

Others might not know, but Zhou Shitao understood well. He had encountered many ancient tombs early on. Some tomb owners pursued special goals by employing Feng Shui Masters to set up strange formations. Though he hadn’t seen a Gathering Yin Formation personally, he’d heard of it, realizing this wasn’t too extraordinary.

If the Han Tomb was as Huo Sining described, with live burials and a Gathering Yin Formation, then tomb robbers would likely avoid it. Its funerary objects, burial methods, and even the tomb owner have significant research value, potentially impacting the Han Dynasty’s historical civilization greatly.

Zhou Shitao glanced at Huo Sining, nodded, and said, ”If Anmin Alley is the only peculiar area among these four locations, it’s worth investigating. Tomorrow, let’s examine Anmin Alley further. If we discover something else, confirming the tomb is below, report to the Fucheng Cultural Relics Bureau for them to decide.”

Huo Sining had no objections to this decision. After dinner, Huo Sining, Zhou Shitao, and Ji Kun huddled in their room to research materials and literature, busying themselves for a few hours.
