Reborn As Super Heiress

Huo Sining and Gu Xu couldn’t help but exchange a glance and both gave a wry smile.

Huo Sining stood up and sat down honestly in front of Zhou Shitao: ”Master, it really is a misunderstanding. This little one was unintentionally picked up by Sister Shu Wen in the wilderness some time ago. She thought the kid resembled me, so she brought her back, not expecting to cause such a big misunderstanding. If you don’t believe me, you can ask Sister Shu Wen.”

Zhou Shitao gave Huo Sining a cold glance: ”Why would someone else’s child be entrusted to you? This kid even calls you mom; do you think I’m senile to such an extent?”

Huo Sining’s mouth twitched a bit, forced to continue improvising despite the awkwardness:

”Actually, the child does look like me; even you thought she was my own when you saw her. When I first met this child, I also felt she resembled me, and I liked her a lot.”

Zhou Shitao sneered: ”Do I not know your personality? Even if you really like children, you wouldn’t bring such trouble into your home. If this child truly had an unknown background, with your character, you would have sent her to the police long ago.”

Huo Sining couldn’t help but secretly grit her teeth: Damn, does he have to be so sharp? Indeed, the person who knows her best in this world is her master!

She was about to explain when Gu Xu suddenly spoke:

”Professor, what you said is correct. Actually, we wanted to send the child to the police station, but after getting there, this kid kept crying and wouldn’t stop. She refused to eat anything, and the police station had no choice but to inform us they planned to send her to an orphanage.”

”You know, Ningning grew up away from her parents’, and she once had a close friend raised in an orphanage, so she knows what it’s like there. To let this child grow up in an orphanage, not just her, even I couldn’t bear it.”

”Yue Shuwen is still single, and her situation isn’t suitable for adopting a child, so Ningning and I felt compassion and decided to adopt this child. After all, we’re not lacking money, raising an additional child isn’t a big deal. It’s certainly better than sending her to an orphanage.”

”I came here this time to clarify this matter with you.”

Saying this, Gu Xu took a stack of documents out of his briefcase and said:

”These are the child’s information, along with certifications from the police station and orphanage, and the adoption paperwork. Please take a look. The child isn’t our biological one, but we have adopted her, and in the future, we will treat her as our own. Even if Ningning and I have other children, we will certainly treat her equally, without any discrimination.”

Gu Xu handed the documents to Zhou Shitao and Ji Kun, while Huo Sining stood dumbfounded, until she actually saw an adoption document regarding the child. Not only was there a photo of the little one, but also blood type and DNA samples, making the procedure seem legitimate enough to be mistaken as real.

Huo Sining was somewhat stunned, subconsciously asking:

”When did you prepare this?”

Gu Xu raised his eyebrows slightly, smiling: ”You suddenly gave me such a surprise, making me someone’s dad overnight. Do you think I could rest easy? I don’t want to be a free dad to anyone, raising a child till someone suddenly pops up to claim her, so I made it official. No one can take her away now.”

Huo Sining realized what Gu Xu meant, and her mouth formed an ’O’ shape, looking at Gu Xu in disbelief, asking quietly:

”Are these things... all real?”

”Otherwise, what do you think?”

Gu Xu chuckled, reaching out to gently ruffle his wife’s hair, feeling very fond of her confused look:

”Did you really think your husband wouldn’t have the capability to do this, needing fake documents to fool your master? Moreover, your master, although aged, hasn’t become muddled. If these documents were fake, do you think he couldn’t tell?”

Huo Sining looked embarrassed, realizing Gu Xu was right. She seemed to underestimate her master, for if there were issues with the documents, her master would figure it out by making a simple phone call.

Nevertheless, Huo Sining was surprised, having genuinely thought Gu Xu had temporarily created fake documentation to deal with Zhou Shitao, not expecting these papers to be real.

”But where did you get the blood type and DNA from?”

Perplexed, Huo Sining looked at the adoption agreement.

Gu Xu laughed: ”Yesterday. I asked your good sister to secretly pluck a few hairs from the little one and take a few drops of blood. I had someone draft the documents overnight. With these things, this little one is now officially part of our family, a member of our household. Neither your master nor our parents or grandparents will make a fuss about this anymore.”

Huo Sining’s eyes reddened; she could tell Gu Xu was saying this to support her.

This little chubby one appeared out of nowhere, something Gu Xu couldn’t be unaware of. It meant that the parents of this child would not come looking for her.

Yet, Gu Xu had still calmly and thoughtfully done all this to handle the subsequent matters for her unexpected shock, avoiding many troubles. This made Huo Sining marvel at how deeply this man loved her, with no reservations and complete trust.

This felt wonderful, and Huo Sining couldn’t help but slightly lift the corners of her mouth, feeling very happy.

In fact, ever since Huo Sining and Gu Xu got married, the Gu Family had urged them repeatedly, openly and covertly expressing hopes that she and Gu Xu could have a child soon. But thinking of having a baby gave Huo Sining a headache.

But at this moment, seeing the man beside her gazing at her intently, for the first time, Huo Sining felt a rush of impulse. Perhaps, having a child resembling both her and Gu Xu and watching that child grow step by step might not be such a bad thing.

With this thought, Huo Sining’s heart was filled with love, and over there, Gu Xu seemed to feel something too, unable to resist quietly reaching out to grasp Huo Sining’s hand.

Gu Xu felt a surge of satisfaction, having finally done something that touched his wife deeply, moving her profoundly. Once the master and senior apprentice leave, he’d finally be able to enjoy time with his wife... hehe.

As Gu Xu was happily daydreaming, unexpectedly at this moment, a mischievous child suddenly darted out and lunged into Gu Xu’s arms, grinning toothlessly: ”Daddy, Daddy—”

Gu Xu: ...

Damn it, what does it mean to get caught in your trap? The atmosphere was perfect, and now this mischief made by this kid has ruined it completely! Whose child is this? Can’t someone manage them?!
