Reborn As Super Heiress

However, just as this idea crossed Zhang Chao’s mind, Liu Cheng continued speaking:

”It’s also our mistake for not considering things thoroughly. We found your registration information on the Haijiao Forum and only knew your name and phone number. Miss Huo thought you were familiar with Oregon from your replies, assuming you had been to America or studied there, so she signed a US dollar check. Unexpectedly, it turned out to be such a big Oolong mistake.”

Zhang Chao was taken aback, vaguely guessing what Liu Cheng was about to say next. His body couldn’t help but tremble, even his heart started beating faster.

”This is a Swiss Bank draft, but you can cash it at domestic banks too. The current exchange rate for USD is around six point nine, close to seven RMB, so thirty thousand USD should be exchanged for about two million RMB.”

Liu Cheng’s words sounded like a thunderclap in Zhang Chao’s ears, and his heart trembled fiercely. He looked up abruptly, with lips slightly quivering and eyes full of shock and disbelief, gazing at Liu Cheng.

Two million?!

This thin check is actually worth two million!!

It’s the first time in Zhang Chao’s life, at seventeen, he’s come into contact with such a significant amount of money, an astronomical figure in his ears, yet now, this money is all his!

”Mister Liu... is there... a mistake? I...”

Liu Cheng smiled: ”There’s no mistake. It’s a U.S. Dollar Check. You just need to take the check and your ID to the bank to cash it. Your father is about to go into surgery, so quickly take your ID and follow me to the bank; once the money is exchanged, you can pay the surgery fee and have the doctor prepare for your father’s surgery promptly.”

Zhang Chao glanced back at the frantically busy doctors and nurses near the surgery room, his heart tightened, realizing the urgent need to pay the surgery fee for his father. He turned back with grateful eyes to Liu Cheng, nodded, and said:

”I would appreciate your help, Mister Liu.”

Liu Cheng waved his hand: ”It’s no trouble. I already checked on my way here. There are several banks nearby that can cash the U.S. Dollar Check, and one of them charges a lower fee than the others. We’ll go to that one. Get yourself a bank card, transfer all the money into it, and you can directly swipe that card at the hospital.”

Zhang Chao, half-understanding, nodded and followed Liu Cheng out, hailed a cab straight to the bank.

After signing documents and inputting passwords countless times, Zhang Chao, dizzy, followed Liu Cheng out, clutching a brand new bank card in his hand.

This bank card contains two million and eighty thousand yuan!

Even though it’s just a lightweight plastic card, it felt so weighty in Zhang Chao’s hand.

Until all procedures were completed, Zhang Chao couldn’t believe he had now become a small millionaire with two million.

Liu Cheng seemed to perceive his thoughts as well and took him to an ATM beside the bank counter to let him check for himself.

Following the machine’s instructions, he entered the bank card’s password, and upon seeing that unreal number, Zhang Chao instinctively pinched his thigh hard. The sharp pain made him realize that this wasn’t a dream, this was real.

So there actually is a pie falling from the sky, and it hit him squarely on the head, almost knocking him out.

Upon returning to the hospital, the surgery room preparations were complete, Zhang Chao hurriedly paid the surgery fees at the payment window so the doctors wouldn’t delay. He also deposited an extra thirty thousand on his father’s account to prevent the hospital from skimping on his father’s medication due to insufficient funds.

Seeing Zhang Chao’s actions, Liu Cheng, who had been following beside him, nodded slightly in approval.

This Zhang Chao, despite his young age, is very thorough in his considerations, meticulous and organized in his actions. Although sometimes stubborn, he has outstanding qualities and is worth nurturing.

Observing this, not just Huo Sining has ideas, but even Liu Cheng developed thoughts of cherishing talent, wanting to keep this kid by his side and cultivate him, potentially becoming a valuable asset in the future.

Zhang Chao, however, was oblivious to Liu Cheng’s thoughts. Upon returning to the hospital, he focused entirely on the surgery room area. After completing all the procedures, he hurried over to the surgery room, just seated to calm his emotions, the door to the surgery room opened, and a nurse stepped out, saying to Zhang Chao:

”You’re the patient’s son, right? Your father is still in surgery, and the blood bank is running low, we need you for blood donation, is your health up for it?”

Zhang Chao nodded: ”No problem, my blood type matches my dad’s, and I’m young and strong, giving some blood is no big deal.”

Speaking, Zhang Chao rolled up his sleeve and followed the nurse to the blood donation room.

After donating blood, despite his good health, Zhang Chao’s face turned a bit pale. As he stepped out of the blood donation room, he noticed someone sitting outside the surgery room and paused, asking: ”Mister Liu, why are you still here?”

In Zhang Chao’s mind, once Liu Cheng accomplished his task, he should leave, with no reason to just wait by the surgery room. People like him usually are busy and should be on the move rather than wasting time at the hospital for a stranger like him.

Yet Liu Cheng did not leave and continued waiting outside the surgery room, puzzling Zhang Chao.

Liu Cheng gave a slight smile and said: ”I’m here waiting for you.”

Zhang Chao was surprised: ”For me?”

Liu Cheng nodded: ”Let’s wait till your father finishes his surgery and we’ll talk. First, eat something since you just donated blood. I suspect you might experience low blood sugar, possibly faintness. Eating something will boost your blood sugar and ease these symptoms.”

Saying this, Liu Cheng lifted a takeout box from a chair beside him and handed it to Zhang Chao: ”Just ordered, still hot.”

Feeling the warmth and kindness in Liu Cheng’s eyes, Zhang Chao’s eyes welled up involuntarily, and the boy who never cried even when beaten badly now found his nose turning sour, and his eyes brimming with tears, wanting uncontrollably to cry in front of this stranger.
