Reborn As Super Heiress

”Isn’t the top official of Fucheng afraid of causing trouble for himself by letting his son-in-law run amok outside?”

Huo Sining, who had always despised such bully-like individuals, had a glimmer of anger in her eyes and spoke with little courtesy.

On the video call, Gu Xu listened to Huo Sining and Yue Shuwen’s conversation and chuckled:

”That’s probably what he wants. Even if it’s not explicitly directed, he at least tacitly agrees. Why else would he choose someone like Jiang Weide as his son-in-law? Isn’t it because Jiang Weide is wealthy but has shallow roots and is easier to control?”

Huo Sining frowned: ”So, Jiang Weide’s actions are known to his father-in-law?”

Gu Xu nodded with a faint smile: ”You had Liu Cheng find Zhang Chao, didn’t you? I’ve checked where he’s living. Guess what I’ve found? That area is currently undergoing a new municipal plan, and it’s estimated that government documents will be issued within a year or two. That place is exactly where the metro passes through, hitting precisely within five hundred meters of Zhang Chao’s home, right at the metro station.”

Upon hearing this, Huo Sining was shocked: ”Metro station? So, in a year or two, Zhang Chao’s area will be seized by the government?”

Gu Xu nodded: ”Exactly. This plan is a municipal secret, impossible to leak before official documents are issued, yet Jiang Weide has been active, buying a lot of houses and parcels of land in that area recently. Isn’t that strange?”

Huo Sining understood the implication of Gu Xu’s words; it seemed Jiang Weide had access to insider information, likely from his father-in-law. Such misuse of public office for personal gain was clearly overstepping bounds.

Moreover, Jiang Weide is ruthless and will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. It wasn’t just Zhang Chao’s home; he probably acquired other homes through unscrupulous means. Given his personality, there’s no way he would acquire properties and land using normal, proper methods!

”With such blatant actions, these people surely are far too fearless. Aren’t they afraid of being reported and having the disciplinary commission investigate and make all their efforts in vain?” Yue Shuwen couldn’t help but widen her eyes.

Gu Xu sighed: ”Greed makes people lose themselves, especially faced with such enormous interests. Even with great risk, some people are still willing to gamble.”

Huo Sining shook her head: ”But Jiang Weide operates so viciously, without any regard for rules, digging his own grave. Even with huge profits involved, he shouldn’t push others to the brink of survival like this. If he genuinely aimed to acquire the properties sincerely, such trouble wouldn’t arise. People like him, hmph, deserve to die.”

Gu Xu could see from Huo Sining’s expression that she’s been restless lately and eager to do something, prompting a bitter smile: ”Wife, are you planning to personally deal with that Jiang fellow?”

Huo Sining laughed: ”That Jiang fellow is nothing, not worth my personal attention.”

Gu Xu glanced at the slyly smiling Yue Shuwen beside him and nodded: ”Indeed, he’s not worth it. Such a small fry can be dealt with simply by a word from you. So, you’re not planning to go to Fucheng?”

Huo Sining shook her head, smiling with satisfaction: ”That doesn’t interfere with my Fucheng trip. You stay home, I’ll go with Sister Shu Wen to Fucheng for a few days and then return.”

Gu Xu, having turned into a husband at his wife’s service, knew from her words that she was determined to make a trip to Fucheng, prompting him to sigh inwardly and nod:

”Let Wu Jun accompany you then. Since you’re unfamiliar with Fucheng, his presence will give me peace of mind.”

Huo Sining was about to refuse when Gu Xu fixed his gaze on her: ”Or, would you prefer me to accompany you?”

Huo Sining was rendered speechless and could only wave her hands in resignation: ”Fine, let Wu Jun come along.”

Assured, Gu Xu smiled and hastily called his former subordinate, now his wife’s trusted confidant Comrade Wu Jun, giving a load of instructions, fearing any mishap during his wife’s Fucheng venture.

What Gu Xu handled over there, Huo Sining didn’t know. However, as she and Yue Shuwen headed to the airport, Liu Cheng called, informing her that Zhang Chao’s father had been transferred to Fucheng’s most authoritative tertiary hospital.

During this period, Zhang Chao received several calls, not only from his aunt but also from his uncle and eldest uncle. First, it was emotional blackmail, then threats and temptations, all implying he should sell the house to that Jiang fellow. They even claimed that if Zhang Chao didn’t sell, not just him but even his uncle and eldest uncle would lose their jobs.

This infuriated Huo Sining, as it clearly went beyond the pale, force buying and selling to this extent. If she ignored it, wouldn’t it allow Jiang Weide’s lawless hand to cover the sky unchecked?

”Watch over Zhang Chao for now; I’m at the airport and should reach Fucheng tonight. We’ll discuss the Zhang family’s affairs once I arrive,”

Huo Sining said to Liu Cheng, quickly hanging up. Liu Cheng, surprised upon hearing Huo Sining was coming, was speechless, thinking he must’ve heard wrong. But upon calling back, Huo Sining’s phone was already turned off.

After arriving smoothly in Fucheng, Wu Jun’s investigation results were sent to the email. Huo Sining, having understood more about Jiang Weide specifics, read through the intelligence then pointed at one item with a slight smile:

”Looks like this person isn’t just force buying and selling but also deceiving people.”

Yue Shuwen followed the direction Huo Sining pointed, glanced over it, her expression changed after a few looks, and she expressed anger: ”This person is so shameless, risking lives just to save a bit of electricity money!”

What Huo Sining pointed at was a cold storage facility at Jiang Weide’s wharf. Fucheng is a major city for seafood, with innumerable sea products shipped nationwide each year, demanding utmost freshness. Once harvested, sea products must be rapidly frozen to preserve their freshness, or they spoil.

Thus, several cold storage facilities have been built at Fucheng’s wharves, providing fishermen with freezing services for preservation.

Jiang Weide’s cold storage was one of these facilities at the wharf, originally publically owned. Somehow, with various connections, Jiang Weide spent just over a hundred thousand to acquire this facility.
