Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1897: Chapter 1800: Reckless Ignorance

According to Semiya’s idea, she hoped to have a match with Huo Sining using an antique, but upon seeing these items, the money Huo Sining had previously won didn’t matter at all; Huo Sining only wanted to use the simplest method to obtain these antiques, so she certainly couldn’t agree to Semiya’s request.

She directly said to Semiya: ”Semiya, you’re right, these antiques do tempt me, but I think you should also be aware that on average, each item’s value is definitely less than ten million dollars. You are proposing to use these as stakes, but if I lose, I must pay you ten million as a reward, which is unfair to me. So I cannot agree to your proposal.”

Semiya did not expect Huo Sining to reject her suggestion, and instantly frowned, asking: ”Then what do you propose we do?”

Huo Sining smiled and said: ”It’s simple, we shall use checks for the gamble to be fair. I genuinely like your items very much; if you’re willing, I am prepared to buy them with the checks you lost to me earlier.”

”Buy them?” Semiya was taken aback, then immediately sneered, looking at Huo Sining, ”How much are you planning to offer? Using the casino’s rules to cut off the top?”

Cutting off the top, bare and unadorned, and similar phrases are jargon from past pawnshops or present-day pawn shops. The so-called casino rules of cutting off the top actually mean undervaluation. When many gamblers pawn jewelry, antiques, etc., casinos often undervalue them, items worth two million might only sell for three to five hundred thousand, no more.

Upon seeing Semiya’s expression, Huo Sining knew she misunderstood, quickly explaining with a smile:

”Miss Semiya, on this point, you can rest assured; I, Huo Sining, have always acted impartially, certainly living up to my reputation.”

”I have just looked over these items; they are genuine, but I cannot estimate the White Jade Revolving Heart Lotus Seed Vase and the Changxin Palace Lantern as they are particularly unique, and I haven’t seen their likes on the market, so I cannot guarantee the accuracy of their prices. However, I can roughly estimate the value of the other items.”

”The Silver Gilt Amitabha Buddha Statue and Winged Good Deeds Gold Crown would be priced around seven million dollars each. The Qing Dynasty Silver Filigree Enamel Auspicious Wealthy Tall Neck Celestial Globe Vase and Agate Gold-Lined Bowl won’t exceed two million. Regarding the Lang Shining Scroll, it should be around ten million, making these five items worth forty million dollars at most.”

”As for the Changxin Palace Lantern and the White Jade Revolving Heart Lotus Seed Vase, I’m willing to offer an estimated price of fifty million dollars, meaning that combined, these items would total ninety million dollars. If you’re agreeable, we can proceed directly with the transaction. I believe this price is definitely more reasonable than selling them outside.”

Semiya originally thought Huo Sining would take advantage and intentionally undervalue her items, but after hearing Huo Sining’s words, she fell silent.

She assumed Huo Sining would offer at most thirty million for these items, yet she didn’t expect this woman to be so generous, offering ninety million to acquire her antiques, effectively returning the checks she had lost back into her hands.

Such a price, of course, Semiya would not refuse; she even felt she’d gotten a great deal, agreeing without hesitation and eagerly stuffing those items into Huo Sining’s arms, extending her hand impatiently for the checks.

Huo Sining was somewhat amused and exasperated.

Semiya truly didn’t understand Huaxia antiques; although Huo Sining sounded dignified, she actually held back.

The prices weren’t but Huo Sining’s estimates, and these items appeared as pairs and were rare alone. Once they hit the market, countless individuals would vie to add them to their collections, with competitive bidding surely exceeding Huo Sining’s conservative estimate.

Moreover, the Changxin Palace Lantern alone has incalculable historical value, and Huo Sining has already planned to include it in the line-up of treasures within her private collection once it’s established, aiming for it to be among the few centerpiece items.

Therefore, the total value of these items definitely surpasses the ninety million dollars Huo Sining mentioned, though she remains unsure by how much.

However, such truths Huo Sining naturally wouldn’t reveal to these people. Semiya is a layperson, not versed in the intricacies of Huaxia antiques, she perceived Huo Sining’s offer as much too generous, causing her view towards Huo Sining to significantly improve.

After mutually signing the transaction agreement, Huo Sining lovingly inspected the items once more, confirming their condition before placing them back into the boxes, then returned the nine ten-million-dollar bank drafts to Semiya.

With money in hand, Semiya instantly felt more confident, casting a glance at Huo Sining, feeling incredibly excited, determined to battle once more and defeat Huo Sining.

Nonetheless, Huo Sining had already discerned that this girl is a bit of a squanderer, feeling quite helpless regarding Semiya.

In Huo Sining’s view, unless this girl loses so thoroughly it hurts, only then might she relent. Losing everything might actually show this zealous young lady from abroad the concept that there are always others more capable.

Huo Sining thought, worst-case scenario, after teaching Semiya a lesson, she’d find a way to return the winnings to JK’s big boss, one for garnering favor, secondly to temper Semiya’s impulsiveness going forward.

Excited as she was, Semiya completely forgot her previous embarrassment at Huo Sining’s hands, having lost nearly a billion in less than an hour and forgotten that from the start of her challenge up till now, Huo Sining had merely used a paltry eleven million in bank drafts as a ruse, ultimately swindling away an entire box of Huaxia antiques.

She still dreamt of winning against Huo Sining, forcing Huo Sining to relinquish those Huaxia antiques, never suspecting that the Huo Sining facing her had already turned completely cunning.

Relying on old tricks, after letting Semiya win a few rounds, the tide began to turn, and the checks before Semiya dwindled one by one, her once radiant face stiffened as her smile gradually faded.
