Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1860: Chapter 1763: At Death’s Door

In a hurry, they rushed into the inner courtyard, only to see Li Changming lying unconscious on the bed, with a furrowed brow and a blue tinge to his face; things didn’t look good. Butler Li and the family doctor were performing basic first aid on Master Li, but pinching the tiger’s mouth or the philtrum had not managed to awaken Li Changming.

Beside him, Li Jun was stiff all over, fists tightly clenched, trembling uncontrollably, with sparks flickering in his eyes.

”How is it? Has an ambulance been called?”

Upon seeing the situation, Yue Shuwen’s eyes turned red with urgency.

Next to her, Li Yu nodded: ”Yes, they’ve called one, but it will take more than ten minutes for the ambulance to arrive.”

Huo Sining, seeing this, had no choice but to step forward and say, ”Let me take a look!”

Yue Shuwen was momentarily stunned, suddenly remembering the Spiritual Pearl on Huo Sining, which could save people, and immediately felt a surge of joy, hurriedly saying:

”Yes, yes, let Ningning take a look. Ningning is really good at saving people. She’s Professor Nie Dechang’s disciple, Nie Dechang is Huaxia’s traditional medicine master, treating many leaders and officials in Zhonghai!”

Hearing that Huo Sining offered to examine Master Li, the others were somewhat skeptical, not really trusting her medical skills. However, when Yue Shuwen mentioned Nie Dechang, the doubt in the others’ eyes somewhat diminished.

Butler Li and the family doctor stepped aside, allowing Huo Sining to come closer.

Huo Sining squatted down, extended her hand to check Master Li’s pulse, then used the Heavenly Eye to inspect his physical condition. What she saw startled her; Master Li’s heart was more than half blackened, barely beating.

No wonder the old gentleman’s face was sallow and his spirit lacking, the illness had advanced to a critical stage.

Huo Sining’s face immediately turned serious. Given the old gentleman’s current symptoms, this was not a good sign. Heart necrosis, if overly agitated, could likely lead to a myocardial infarction, in which case treatment might be futile.

Clearly, this old gentleman’s illness had a long history, which the other members of the Li Family should have known, explaining their panic.

Huo Sining contemplated briefly, then refrained from any outrageous actions, instead transferring a small amount of Spiritual Energy over, circulating it around Master Li’s body.

This measure could alleviate Li Changming’s current symptoms, likely awakening him from unconsciousness. However, even with Spiritual Energy treatment, his heart disease was not immediately curable; Huo Sining did not plan to heal him fully, merely using the energy to gently comb through and unblock the heart’s blood vessels, preventing functional failure.

Birth, aging, illness, and death are natural in life; Li Changming was merely a stranger to her, so it was unlikely for Huo Sining to risk exposure for his sake.

After doing so, Huo Sining stood up, with Yue Shuwen rushing forward to ask concernedly, ”How is it?”

Huo Sining glanced at Yue Shuwen, then addressed Li Jun and Butler Li:

”He was overwhelmed with anger and excitement, which caused the fainting. It’s nothing serious. I just stimulated several acupuncture points on his body with Qigong; he should wake up shortly. However, it’s best to take care moving forward, to prevent such occurrences. The old gentleman isn’t as young anymore, with heart disease, a sudden heart attack could be life-threatening.”

Upon hearing this, Li Jun relaxed, giving Huo Sining a grateful look.

Recalling Huo Sining’s earlier words, Yue Shuwen was furious: ”Jun, could it be those Luli People?!”

Li Jun remained silent, but Butler Li began to speak:

”After the banquet, the master asked me to arrange rooms for the Luli People to rest, but they insisted on discussing something important in the study with him, so the master agreed to their request.”

”The master didn’t let me follow, so I don’t know what they talked about in the study. However, it wasn’t long before the Luli People hurriedly rushed out, leaving without a word and claiming to return to Luli. I found it odd at the time, so I entered the study to consult the master, only to find him fallen on the floor, unconscious.”

”It’s outrageous, these people are heartless.”

Hearing Butler Li’s words, Yue Shuwen was infuriated, her face flushed, cursing, ”If it weren’t for Grandfather Li’s help, the Glazed Li Family wouldn’t even know where they’re hiding. Ungrateful wretches, biting the hand that feeds them, they’re truly ungrateful wolves!”

Li Jun’s father and Li Yu’s father, previously busy seeing off guests, rushed over upon hearing the news. Seeing the old gentleman lying unconscious, they were both flustered and nervous:

”What happened here?”

Butler Li recounted the earlier events again, and the two middle-aged men were furious, infuriated:

”I warned you, these Luli People aren’t ones to mess with, not grateful at all. I advised the old man to keep his distance, but he wouldn’t listen. Now look, the snake has bitten back!”

While Father Li was passionately indignant, Master Li slowly opened his eyes. Li Jun, noticing this, was overjoyed and rushed over, asking, ”Grandfather, how are you? Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?”

Master Li composed himself, then realized where he was, noticing the family doctor standing by, his eyes momentarily flickered, showing panic. He anxiously reached out to grasp Li Jun’s hand, asking:

”Jun’er, why are you all here? What’s wrong with me?”

Li Jun hurriedly replied, ”It’s nothing. I guess you’re just tired after entertaining guests all day. Butler Li overreacted, thinking something happened and called us over.”

Master Li wasn’t senile; with the family doctor present, he knew things weren’t as simple as his grandson suggested. Nonetheless, he didn’t expose Li Jun’s well-intentioned lie, pretending not to know, saying:

”As long as I’m fine, you all can go back. It’s been a busy day; I’m indeed a bit tired. A sleep would be good.”

The family doctor dutifully examined Master Li with a stethoscope, pausing when touching his pulse. Quickly raising his head, he gave Huo Sining, standing beside the bed, a surprised and incredulous look.
