Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1863: Chapter 1766: Jianghu Charlatan

Huo Sining was just about to explain, but Li Yu over there turned furious instead.

Previously, during the Treasure appraisal conference, Li Yu had taken people from Dongyang to the Li Family Manor to gamble on jadeite, not only was he embarrassed by Huo Sining and Li Jun, but he was also reported by Li Jun and punished by Master Li. This left Li Yu resentful and dissatisfied with Huo Sining for a while.

Upon hearing Father Li mention the treatment fee, Li Yu naturally assumed that Huo Sining was taking advantage of the situation to make exorbitant demands. At once, he couldn’t hold back, sharply accusing:

”Uncle, don’t be fooled by this woman. What does she know about medical skills? I think it was pure coincidence that grandpa just woke up. What does it have to do with this woman? She’s just here to con money from our family! In the end, what if she doesn’t treat grandpa properly and delays his condition, leading to his death?”

Huo Sining originally agreed to treat Old Master Li out of sympathy for Yue Shuwen and Li Jun.

But now, seeing Li Yu unjustly accuse her of being a con artist and trying to scam money, there was no way Huo Sining would stay and continue to be falsely accused. Her face darkened immediately, and the smile in her eyes gradually faded, leaving only coldness:

”Miss Li Yu, whether I’m a con artist is beside the point. I won’t bear the blame for harming your grandfather. If you can find a doctor who treats Old Master Li for free, please do so. I want to see which benevolent doctor in this world is so ethical as to give treatment for free!”

Li Yu was choked by Huo Sining’s sarcastic remarks, his face immediately turning red with anger, he glared menacingly at Huo Sining, his eyes full of indignation and fury.

”Enough! Keep spouting nonsense, and I’ll have you sent to Ethiopia, left to fend for yourself!”

Seeing Huo Sining’s face turn cold, Li Yu’s father realized Li Yu’s words had offended her. His heart sank immediately, and he quickly intervened to chastise Li Yu, then turned with a flattering smile towards Huo Sining:

”Miss Huo, I’m truly sorry. Xiao Yu has been spoiled by us, she speaks without thinking, she’s just very concerned about her grandfather, she didn’t mean to target you.”

Of course, Huo Sining could see that Li Yu had a grudge against her and disliked her, which is why she was so reckless to insult her. Hence, she didn’t want to give this woman any face at all.

She raised her head, looking at Li Yu with an indistinctly mocking smile, and said, ”Miss Li, you say I’m here to con money. I’m not afraid to tell you, there are many things I lack, but money isn’t one of them. As I’ve said, I can treat Old Master Li’s illness, but there’s no free lunch. You have to offer me something that entices me, or else I won’t lift a finger.”

The Li Family Brothers didn’t expect things to turn out this way. If Li Yu hadn’t suddenly intervened, maybe Huo Sining would have agreed by now. Now, the Li Family Brothers were quite annoyed with Li Yu, wondering why she was being so immature and was only stirring trouble, creating problems out of nothing.

Li Yu loathed Huo Sining to the extreme. Seeing Huo Sining still putting on a show at this moment, she grew exceedingly furious:

”Hmph, speaking so loftily. I think you simply have no solution and are pretending. You’re just finding yourself a way out. You say you don’t need money, yet you want us to offer enticing things in exchange. Isn’t that just another way of conning us for money? It’s laughable how you, a woman, have our entire family wrapped around your finger. Do you truly think your conning skills are that great?”

”Li Yu!”

Even Li Jun couldn’t stand it anymore.

He too initially believed Huo Sining just wanted money and felt extremely disappointed in himself for misjudging her. But when Huo Sining mentioned she wasn’t short on money, Li Jun recalled a report he had just seen in a Huaxia media outlet about Huo Sining, which was both shocking and admirable.

Li Jun’s heart skipped a beat and he immediately realized he had misunderstood, intending to explain it to Huo Sining. However, his cousin blurted out words without thinking again, leaving him both shocked and angry, urgently cutting off Li Yu’s words.

Yue Shuwen flared up. Being around Huo Sining for so long, she knew her temperament well. Li Yu continuously provoked, and while Huo Sining could endure it, Yue Shuwen could not. She immediately retorted:

”Judging the benevolent with a villain’s mind, do you think everyone is as superficial as you?”

”Do you know that half a month ago, Huo Sining sold 50% of a mid-sized Myanmar jadeite mine and directly donated thirty billion to the Huaxia Country Earthquake Disaster Area? Do you know she has injected all her group companies into a foundation, donating all the revenue to charity? She’s worth billions—does she need to scam the Li Family for money?”

”Originally, you all were the ones pleading for her to treat Old Master Li. If this is your attitude, then I don’t see the need for treatment. Imagine that after the treatment is successful, you might claim Old Master Li recovered on his own, and then falsely accuse Ningning of being a money-scamming con artist!”

Yue Shuwen understood well that Huo Sining did not prefer to reveal her abilities just to save a stranger, and the principle of ”a jade without defect is a crime” was deeply ingrained in her own experiences with her father. Even Yue Shuwen herself was cautious in hiding her own abilities, fearing discovery by others.

If it weren’t for her and Li Jun, Huo Sining might not have agreed to the Li Family’s request. This made Yue Shuwen even more unwilling for Huo Sining to suffer grievances.

Li Yu’s targeting left Yue Shuwen feeling angry and stifled, unwilling to stay any longer. She stomped her feet and straightforwardly called out, ”Ningning, let’s go!”

Huo Sining didn’t wish to argue with the Li family any further, turning to leave. She had made her point clear: if Father Li was smart, he should investigate what Huo Sining truly desired. If they genuinely wanted to save Old Master Li, they would come to her eventually.

Li Yu, after being scolded by Yue Shuwen, turned pale and flushed. Watching Yue Shuwen drag Huo Sining away, not looking back from the Li Family Manor, she realized that she might have made a grave mistake and misunderstood that woman surnamed Huo.

She wanted to call Yue Shuwen back, wanted to apologize to that Huo Sining, but her strong sense of pride wouldn’t allow her to open her mouth. Helplessly, she turned back, looking at Li Jun and her father with confusion, and naively asked:

”Did that Huo Sining really donate three billion?”
