Reborn As Super Heiress

Capítulo 1887: Chapter 1790: Unwarranted Disaster

At this moment, the first round was about to begin. Windsor Caesar and Gu Xu each held a dice cup in their hands, shaking them with an up-and-down, left-and-right motion. The collision of the dice with the cup produced a crisp sound.

Huo Sining originally thought that Windsor Caesar, being an emperor in Las Vegas for so many years, should be able to play many tricks like in the movies. However, seeing his actions were not much different from the amateur Gu Xu, Huo Sining couldn’t help but laugh silently, thinking to herself that she had watched too many Xiangjiang movies.

With Windsor Caesar’s personality, he probably wouldn’t do such flamboyant gestures.

However, during the shaking of the dice, Semya’s face momentarily stiffened, and a look of annoyance flashed in her eyes when she looked at Huo Sining.

It was because the sound of the two shaking dice together was too chaotic. She had practiced the skill of listening to dice, which would have been easy to control if she were the one shaking them, but this time it was someone else, and two people at that, making the sound completely disordered. Despite her self-proclaimed expertise in gambling skills, in this situation, they were of no use at all.

However, thinking about it from another angle, Semya relaxed again.

She was quite confident in herself. Shaking the dice herself was different; she could control the strength of her hand and basically get any number she wanted. But when it was someone else shaking, it relied on astonishing memory and hearing.

And now clearly, hearing was useless, so both Huo Sining and she were in the dark, relying only on guessing. It was all down to personal luck.

After the recent guess of nine points, which she hit by sheer luck, Semya had a mysterious confidence, feeling that her luck today shouldn’t be too bad.

“Stop!”

After a round of shaking, the bar owner, acting as the referee, raised his hand to signal the two croupiers to stop shaking the dice.

Windsor Caesar and Gu Xu simultaneously paused, stopping the shaking of the cups. After a few crisp sounds, the dice inside came to a complete stop.

Just after the shaking stopped, even before the two croupiers put down the dice cups, Semya eagerly spoke up.

“I’ll go first!”

Huo Sining didn’t mind the order, it was the same to her anyway.

On the gambling table before them, there were grids for each of them, with buttons for big/small and odd/even. During the betting process, they could cover their grid with their hand and press the button according to their own answer, preventing others from following their lead.

“Please place your bets!” The bar owner performed his duties earnestly, clearly accustomed to acting as a referee for Semya before.

Semya acted quickly, almost pressing the button the moment the dice cup hit the table. Huo Sining, eager to save time, confirmed her answer within a few seconds.

“I’m ready!” Huo Sining raised her head and gestured to the referee.

Semya bet on odd and large, while Huo Sining chose even and large.

The referee nodded, “Alright, reveal!”

As Gu Xu and Windsor Caesar lifted the dice cups, the three dice inside each became visible.

Semya looked expectantly at her own dice cup, then at Huo Sining’s answer. Her face immediately broke into a smile.

“Miss Huo rolled one-four-five, making ten, even and large; Miss Huo wins. Miss Semya rolled three-four-six, making thirteen, odd and large; first round is a draw,” the referee reported the dice numbers with a blank expression.

Although dissatisfied that Huo Sining also guessed correctly, Semya was still in a good mood, thinking her luck was indeed excellent today, sure she wouldn’t lose.

After hitting correctly twice in a row, Semya’s confidence soared.

Entering the second round, Semya straightened her back and quickly made her judgment after the dice had landed; after all, there was a one in four chance of winning. Semya didn’t think her luck would lose to the Huaxia woman in front of her.

However, when Windsor Caesar and Gu Xu picked up the dice cups again, Semya was disappointed this time.

Both she and Huo Sining bet on odd and small, but Huo Sining’s total was seven, while hers was fourteen; she didn’t get a single one right this round.

The smile on Huo Sining’s face emerged, while Semya’s face turned blue with rage, glaring fiercely at Gu Xu and the dice in his hand.

Gu Xu looked completely innocent all of a sudden, thinking, “Why me? I’m just shaking the dice, and it’s for my wife. It has nothing to do with you. Even if you guessed wrong, you should blame Windsor Caesar’s bad dice shake, not me. This is being hit with a stray bullet!”

Except Gu Xu didn’t know that Semya thought if he hadn’t rolled such low numbers and rolled something higher, or at least an even number, she could have gotten another draw. So in her mind, she blamed Gu Xu.

Gu Xu really got caught up in an unwarranted disaster, but he should have thought that Semya was smitten with Windsor Caesar. As they say, love is blind, and no matter how poorly Windsor Caesar rolled, she wouldn’t blame him, so Gu Xu became the scapegoat.

If Gu Xu knew what Semya was thinking, he’d probably have exclaimed, “Only small people and women are difficult to deal with.”

The bar owner’s forehead was covered in a thin sheen of sweat as he cautiously pushed Semya’s first check over to Huo Sining.

Huo Sining picked up the check, smiling as she looked at Semya, “It seems my luck is just a bit better than Miss Semya’s.”

Semya was furious for a moment but quickly realized Huo Sining’s purpose was to provoke her.

Emotional instability is the worst thing in gambling. Semya also felt her previous mindset was too anxious, and the more she thought about it, the more easily she would fall into the opponent’s trap. This realization caused Semya to feel secretly annoyed, thinking this Huaxia woman was indeed cunning and deceitful. No wonder she could win the Emperor’s heart; it was despicable!

Forcing herself to calm down, Semya lifted her chin and said to Huo Sining, “It’s just the first round. Who the deer will fall to is uncertain, Miss Huo. Don’t be happy too soon. Be careful, or you might fall off the clouds later!”

Saying this, Semya pulled out another Swiss Bank check, signed her name on the next slip, and tore it off.

“Let’s continue!”
