Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Letting Auntie filter through isn’t a joke.

Nowadays, the affairs on the train are increasing, and he truly needs a role akin to a secretary.

Yu Jing is not possible; after temporarily substituting for two days, she began to complain. If she were tasked with doing miscellaneous chores every day, her resentment would probably overturn the train.

As for the other core members: Lin Jin is too inexperienced, Liang Kuan is too silent, Xiaoba is too young, Wan Xing is too independent, He Jie is too impatient—they’re all not quite suitable.

Several dozen new plants have been added to the botanical garden; Huang Sea is already so busy his feet barely touch the ground. If not for major events, he rarely appears in the dining car, so it’s even less possible.

After sifting through, only Yu Yue is left.

It’s not as if she’s being asked to make any major decisions. Considering her ability to adapt in urgent situations, doing some secretary work is more than sufficient.

...

The train is too narrow; the news of the crew restructuring was already widely known by that afternoon.

By evening, the official orders had been formulated and issued.

Everyone accepted it quite swiftly—that’s the advantage of a small space.

A day is enough for a rule to go from inception to implementation.

The crew also gained four official conductors.

Logistics group: Hushuo.

Manufacturing group: Boss.

Combat group: Lao Er.

Research group: Xiaozhao.

The remaining personnel were divided according to function into the Level 5 Crew system.

Like the armed soldiers brought back by Xiaoba, plus some selected from the worker group, totaling forty people, divided into the combat group to become the security personnel of the armed train.

Due to no outstanding performances, Zhang Kai was included among them, but by virtue of his seniority, he obtained a Level 3 Crew qualification and earned significantly more points each month compared to ordinary crew members.

The armed train maintains them; when He Jie, Lao San, and other core members mobilize them, they must comply unconditionally, and unlike Lu Xiao, the reward for their tasks isn’t fixed.

Their reward standards depend on the situation.

When Boss received the appointment notification, he was sitting in the bullet workshop car, still a bit incredulous.

Lao San can mix in with the core team, and they’re quite satisfied. Having stayed on the train long enough, the two brothers are also self-aware. In terms of evolutionary talent, no one compares, and in terms of intellect, the three brothers together could sell themselves out.

The Train Manager, although a bit peculiar, hasn’t wronged them; there’s plenty to eat and drink, and whatever benefits are ahead, the three brothers haven’t been left out.

Last time, after eating seafood, he started shivering at the scent of water.

But unexpectedly, when the crew was restructured, they were directly given two important conductor positions.

”Boss, no issue now, right?”

Hushuo confirmed once again.

Boss snapped back to reality, waved his hand, ”I understand, collaborate with Captain Yu for production and manufacturing, it’s what we’re used to doing, definitely won’t drop the ball.”

Hushuo wrote something down in his booklet, then relaxed and said, ”The Train Manager means this: at this stage, just set the levels and personnel, the work remains the same; each of us just needs to manage what’s under us.”

Boss scratched his head, ”That’s easy for me to say, there aren’t many makers and gatherers to begin with, but how to handle Lao Er’s side, some forty people—he lacks experience, and I fear things might go wrong.”

”Don’t worry, we conductors are only responsible for daily management, training and tasks are led by core members, and currently the four conductors are just temporary; later, there will be some Level 5 or low-tier conductors to help manage.”

”Oh, more division?”

”The Train Manager said it’s temporary; if enough staff is available in the future, there won’t be division; if not, then conductors will be further divided into several levels—but don’t spread this news around, it’s only for you guys in management, just to keep in mind for future adjustments.”

”Alright, got it.”

Watching Hushuo leave, Boss stood up and went to the window.

The bullet workshop car is considerably more advanced than other armed cars, even window and other protections are different, but this kind of tempered glass only looked decent before the apocalypse.

Facing those cannons, it’s like paper—it doesn’t compare to anything like those 12.7mm, 14.5mm, or even 80mm and above cannons.

It will have to be replaced with Tier One Armor, which can defend against 12.7mm armor-piercing rounds with outstanding effect.

Just that Tier One Armor requires fusion with special materials, making production truly a hassle.

Perhaps the first thing the manufacturing group will do when consolidated is prepare materials for the next stage of train reconstruction.

Opening the window, outside was pitch-dark; the tall buildings had long since lost their lights, like gigantic tombstones, thrown behind by the train, with the acid rain splashing against the window frame, illuminated by the train’s interior lights into a thousand threads.

”What else is there to think, just work earnestly.”

Catching a handful of acid rain, feeling the slight sting on the skin, taking a deep breath, he fiercely rubbed it across his face.

Only when his facial skin reddened did he lift his head.

This was a new trick learned from being tormented by He Jie last time; though a bit strange, it’s refreshing and invigorating.

Closing the window, swatting away some light-seeking insects, Boss headed towards the bullet production line behind him.

The bullet production line intercepted from the Steel Council occupies three full cars; this time, they weren’t placed at the front but in the third, fourth, and fifth cars from the rear, with the first and second being two hydrogen cars, acting as the reverse train heads.

If only reloading bullets, less than half a car would suffice.

However, crafting from the casing makes the process much more complex, as even gunpowder requires specialized space for production.

Currently, he directly oversees this production line.

Upon entering, he immediately heard the humming of machines, with a dozen people under Han Qin’s leadership each fulfilling their roles.
