Armed Train in the Apocalypse

The lamp stand, weighing several hundred pounds, was knocked into the air with one swing, scattering parts everywhere.

The high-strength short rod in his hand was also completely ruined.

Watching Su Huan recklessly driving an engineering vehicle ahead, Zhong Cheng gnashed his teeth in hatred.

But what bothered him more was the alluring sensation coming from the train, akin to closely observing a zombie lure, making him want to taste it out of curiosity.

A field medic rushed over swiftly, tearing open his shirt at the back in a few deft moves, using tweezers to accurately extract the bullet lodged between his scapula, and then quickly staunched the bleeding and stitched him up.

Even on a battlefield drenched in acid rain and stray bullets, the entire rescue took no more than a minute.

After bandaging his wound, the medic said, ”Secretary Li asks if you need fire support.”

Zhong Cheng’s brow furrowed, and he coldly refused, ”The armed train used a wide-range zombie lure, tell him not to act recklessly, and no one can guarantee that the metal manipulator is not holding back, just keep some firepower for long-range suppression and make sure to contain the zombies in the county center!”

”Yes!”

The medic packed up and quickly retreated to the rear line.

The sound of gunfire here was much denser than on the train’s side, with the deafening roars of corpses.

The tide of corpses piled up, surging forward to breach the defenses, but in the face of the overwhelming firepower, even a Tier One Butcher became a heap of mangled flesh in no time.

Due to the county’s edge location, with few high-rise buildings, even zombies like Night Demon and Goblin had no chance for a sneak attack.

They could only charge forward against the soldiers’ web of fire.

Li Tao, wearing a raincoat, was inspecting the temporary positions as his glasses were nowhere to be seen, a thin film-like sheen occasionally flashing across his eyes, resembling Wan Xing’s tech glasses.

Listening to the medic’s report, Li Tao responded calmly.

Once there was no one around, a fleeting shadow crossed his scholarly face.

When the soldiers retreated and the Evolvers took over, he withdrew as well.

The Steel Council has a total of three thousand troops, counting five thousand Servant Soldiers totaled eight thousand, with a thousand stationed at headquarters, leaving two thousand regular soldiers and around four thousand Servant Soldiers here in Changli County, and given the high casualty rate of the Servant Soldiers, it’s uncertain if there are even three thousand left.

The Steel Council made a tactical adjustment for the armed train’s arrival.

Five hundred soldiers mixed with five hundred Servant Soldiers were spread throughout the county to carry out in-depth missions, mainly to disperse the zombies’ focus to avoid clustering and buy time for the Steel Council’s armed train.

The remaining five hundred, leading a thousand Servant Soldiers, surrounded Changli, setting up defensive lines and sealing the area.

Though this was just a gesture, not enough to seal a whole county, otherwise Su Huan wouldn’t have been able to break through so easily.

Even twice, entering and exiting once each.

But it could still serve as a reminder.

The remaining troops of a thousand regular soldiers plus over a thousand Servant Soldiers had to fend off the armed train and contain the large zombie group in the county center’s commercial plaza.

So they were stretched thin.

Since the armed train’s arrival, the zombie group began uncontrollably gathering to the east, and when the armed train breached the third layer of defense and the real battle broke out, the rear zombie tide erupted completely.

Almost as if coordinated with the armed train.

The pincer attack nearly blew the Steel Council’s rear defenses.

Startled, he quickly pulled back the trackside soldiers to fill the line, even dragging over one of the three 85mm cannons prepared for Su Huan.

Only then did they barely suppress the zombie tide’s eruption.

He suspected Su Huan was behind it; but last time, the opposite party used Evolution Beast lure, different from this instance, so he was only suspicious. Now it’s confirmed beyond doubt, it was that damn bastard’s doing!

’Does he not fear being eaten by zombies himself?!’

Staring at the armed train stalled by large engineering vehicles and various tactics behind him, Li Tao was baffled.

Both front and rear train doors had been breached, with Lin Jin and the others supporting ahead, neither party dared to advance, continuing a standoff sheltered by the train’s thick armor, engaging in a battle of attrition.

But the passengers in the rear were mere lambs to slaughter in front of the well-trained Steel Council soldiers.

The soldiers initially hesitated due to Xiaoba’s presence, engaging in combat with non-metal cold weapons. Seeing no one intervened, they resorted to shooting the defenseless passengers.

Without speed, the train was like a steel dragon stranded on the shallows, losing its majesty.

The battle had thoroughly entered a fever pitch.

Both sides teetered on the brink of death.

”Tailless Fox, Black Fox, go hunt down that metal manipulator, I’ll handle the conductor personally.”

Zhong Cheng ripped off his tattered raincoat and headed toward the engineering vehicle Su Huan was driving.

The woman and the soldier immediately left, heading straight for the train’s head.

There, the window had been shattered, making it the easiest entry point.

Some Evolvers had already gathered there.

Claiming the title of ”first to scale the breach,” at least merits being a captain of a B-level squad!

Within a dozen meters, the woman tugged at the soldier wielding a Night Demon Claw as a dagger, whom paused momentarily before following behind her.

Tailless Fox had the strongest perception of danger among them, second only to Zhong Cheng.

Because of their hesitation, elite soldiers swiftly jumped onto the train’s head.
