Armed Train in the Apocalypse

The two sides nodded and passed by each other.

Li Tao paused and turned back.

The secretary said, ”Three minutes ago, someone broke through the defense line from the southeast and entered Changli County.”

...

As the initiator of the war, the great chaos-causing train conductor, Su Huan was currently sitting in an off-road vehicle that circumvented half the county.

Strong winds and rain pulled at long hair flying out the window, Su Huan lazily leaned on the car window, watching the roar of battle in the distance with a calm gaze, undisturbed like a serene lake.

Have the train directly draw attention, then quickly infiltrate the town with his team, and find Lin Jin.

That is his combat objective.

Of course, if there’s a chance to gain some other benefits from his old employer, he wouldn’t be polite about it either.

Before leaving, he clearly explained the combat targets to Liang Kuan and the others: make a big scene, if things feel wrong, just switch the car’s rear to the front and run.

The main force fighting against the Steel Council was never the armed train, but the suppressed zombie horde in the town.

As long as this balance is broken, they’ll have their hands full.

Upon charging in, they already saw several waves of zombie hordes starting to scurry toward the battlefield.

”Have you found it?”

Su Huan returned to the car and asked coolly.

The girl in the back seat, named Little Box, opened her eyes and shook her head gravely.

Su Huan turned to look at Mountain Goat, whose forehead was covered in cold sweat, his eyes seemingly filmed over, devoid of any light. Sensing Su Huan’s gaze, he said, ”I’m also looking, but I haven’t found the burning signs you mentioned.”

”Head towards the most dangerous place.”

”What?”

Mountain Goat was stunned for a moment.

Su Huan pinched his chin, looking at the chaotic street ahead, ”Drive towards where you think is the most dangerous.”

Mountain Goat gritted his teeth, jerked the steering wheel, and started rushing towards the nearest zombie horde.

Su Huan grabbed the electromagnetic sniper rifle with his left hand, opened the car door directly while the car was moving at high speed, and the acid rain poured in, spread by a cold blue arc.

With one hand on the car frame, he flipped onto the off-road vehicle.

The exoskeleton suction cups under his feet securely locked his body onto the car roof.

...

One kilometer away, two bedraggled figures fled frantically, blood-curdling howls echoed from the buildings on either side, iron-blue figures climbed on all fours, revealing eighteen scarlet compound eyes under their armpits, locking onto the two below relentlessly.

”Bang!”

A Tier One Jumper landed on the street ahead of the two.

A zombie behind dragged a small electric vehicle as it approached, a bloodthirsty grin plastered on its bloated face, common zombies surged in from the sides.

”I’ll cover the rear!” the scout gritted his teeth, loaded the last grenade, and fired it towards the rear.

With a boom, the zombie horde was blown open, limbs and severed arms clashing against the buildings on either side.

But more zombies surged forward.

Looking down the street, it was crawling with zombies.

The scout began shooting, the lonely muzzle flaring in the rain, taking down the zombies charging forward, the crisp gunfire gradually became muffled in the rain, and the scout’s heart was sinking into despair step by step.

The zombies in the residence area rioted, numerous Tier One Zombies charged out at once, catching the squad off guard, and leading to an encounter battle.

Three people, including the captain, died on the spot, and at a critical moment, it was this new recruit behind him that saved him.

Thinking of this, the scout subconsciously looked back.

Suddenly, a wave of heat surged past his ear, a ball of fire with a long tail flew past, landed without creating a massive explosion, like willow fluff falling on the zombies ahead, then started burning in the acid rain.

Everything was silent, without a sound, but the speed at which the flames spread was astonishing.

From landing to engulfing, only about three seconds passed, and the dozen or so zombies caught in the flames were roasted into charred corpses!

After taking a few steps, they powerlessly collapsed to the ground, their charred remains shattering across the street.

Even after watching several times, the scout couldn’t help but be stunned.

”Run!”

Lin Jin called out to him and continued running forward.

The scout quickly followed, passing an intersection and seeing that the Tier One Jumper had already turned into a charred corpse.

He didn’t even know when Lin Jin managed to do it.

A glimmer of hope welled up in his eyes.

Suddenly, a Night Demon pounced down from the building beside them. The scout could only manage to shout once before seeing the space around Lin Jin twist for a brief moment. Water vapor rose, and an orange-yellow flame erupted, wildly deflecting the Night Demon’s claws.

”Right side!”

The scout quickly assessed the situation, raised his gun, and fired a burst at the Night Demon.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Lin Jin managed to escape.

The two of them ducked into an alley on the right, flanked by tall buildings with storefronts below—convenience stores, grain shops, hardware shops, and braised meat places were all present. There were some scattered zombies inside, but they were all ordinary zombies, posing no real obstacle to the two Evolvers.

However, as they rounded a corner, both froze in place.

A dozen bloodhounds were gnawing on something in a lamb soup shop, their faces smeared with blood. Hearing the sound, they simultaneously lifted their heads, sniffing curiously.

Their crimson gazes then locked onto the two of them.

The leading bloodhound stepped out, its dark red muscles exposed to the acid rain, and shook its body fiercely.

Clearly, it didn’t like this environment.

But that didn’t mean it would give up the delicious meal right in front of it.

At that moment, chaotic zombie howls also came from behind. Noticing someone trying to steal their meal, the bloodhounds roared fiercely.

One after another, they charged out of the lamb shop, racing towards the two, like arcs of blood-red lightning.

Behind them, the frenzied zombie horde surged forward, trapping the two in the narrow alley.

The walls were lined with agile Night Demons, the ground was swarmed with zombies and bloodhounds, while various Evolver zombies eyed them from both sides...

The barking of dogs and the howls of zombies mixed into a chaotic mess.

The three-way battle ensued, with some fighting for the meat while others fought over it.

The flames burned more and more fiercely in the rain, almost swirling upward.

And the surrounding zombies became the best firefighters, recklessly and sacrificially charging into the flames.

Clutching a bloodhound, the scout detonated an explosive, ripping open a gap in the tight encirclement.

He stumbled into the roadside lamb soup shop.

Unexpectedly, he saw a familiar person.

The Servant Soldier comrade who insisted on going home, leaving him a Crystal Stone to change his fate before departing.

However, now he lay on the ground eviscerated.

Still tightly gripping that old-style rifle in his hand.

Lin Jin remained silent for a moment.

He could feel that there wasn’t much power left in his body. With his last bit of strength, he incinerated the corpse on the ground to ashes. Finding a slightly cleaner chair, he sat down, watching the frenzied predators pouring in from the door, his eyes void of fear, merely letting out a faint sigh.

”Who doesn’t have family...”

He let the remaining flames begin to consume his body. The sharp pain instantly climbed up his arm, more unbearable than being cut by a knife. The keratin layer gradually cracked, and his flesh dehydrated in the searing flames, slowly withering and splitting.

For some reason, the flames that burned zombies so quickly seemed to burn him much slower, only now climbing up to his shoulders.

Could he not even manage self-immolation?

The pain twisted his expression, and time slowed to a crawl in that moment.

Even the deformed bloody maw of the bloodhound at the door became incredibly clear; he even had time to discern the flesh on its fangs.

’To think I’ll end up feeding the dogs...’

Lin Jin thought vaguely.

Suddenly, a blue light beam shot past before his eyes, tearing the entire world into a cold hue.

The fierce bloodhound was ripped in two like a piece of paper.

Lin Jin was momentarily stunned, as if something opened up inside him, a gentle stream flowing out and transforming into a surging river!

An uncontrollable joy appeared on his face.

It felt as if something inside him had broken, and the flames that had harmed him retracted.

Countless things in the air seemed to flow into his body.

With a lift of his hand, a towering flame soared into the sky!

Resonating with the cold blue light beams continuously firing ahead.

Lin Jin, with a trace of anxiety and confusion, walked out of the lamb soup shop and witnessed a sight he would never forget in his life.

At the other end of the street, a wild off-road vehicle was recklessly crashing through, almost like it would take flight.

Yet no matter how the off-road vehicle clashed, a figure in a black shirt stood fixedly on the roof, holding a sniper rifle like a nail. The corner of his mouth slightly curled up behind the sniper scope, and a cold blue light once again burst from his gun barrel, like the whip of the Heavenly Emperor, tearing a gap in the rain.
