The Wanyan Family actually has some connection to the Demon Hideout Cave?

The Purple Robe Lama’s heart shook even more. Just what kind of relationship was there between the Wanyan Family and the Demon Hideout Cave?

While the Purple Robe Lama was still stunned, the newcomer already lowered his voice and said, ”This subordinate’s bloodline has followed the lineage of Third Master for nine generations, so I do know a bit about the Wanyan Family’s situation. What I’ve heard is that the Wanyan Family entered the Demon Hideout Cave many years ago and obtained the Demon Sect inheritance within the cave. So, strictly speaking, the Wanyan Family is the true Demon Sect!”

”That’s right!” Wanyan Hongsheng nodded and said, ”You’re quite right. Our Wanyan Family can indeed be considered a Demon Sect now. Our Wanyan Family may not count as the master of the Demon Hideout Cave yet, but everything of the Demon Sect within the cave can be used by us!”

”Oh?” The newcomer immediately perked up and said, ”In that case, doesn’t the Wanyan Family basically count as the master of the Demon Hideout Cave?”

”It’s not the same!” Wanyan Hongsheng shook his head and said, ”The Demon Hideout Cave still has a Demon Pet. That is the true master of the Demon Hideout Cave!”

”Demon Pet?” The newcomer was startled.

Wanyan Hongsheng drew in a deep breath and said, ”The one who can truly control the Demon Hideout Cave is only the Demon Pet. However, just being able to make use of the things inside the Demon Hideout Cave is already no small feat. Our Wanyan Family has grasped many things within the Demon Hideout Cave, including…”

At this point, Wanyan Hongsheng raised the booklet in his hand, pointed at one of the illustrations, and said, ”Including this!”

”Th-this… what is this?” The newcomer stared at that illustration in astonishment. It depicted a skeleton, and behind the skeleton there was also a pair of wings. He had no idea what it was supposed to be; it looked extremely strange.

”According to the records left by our ancestors, this thing should belong to the Divine Clan!” Wanyan Hongsheng said in a heavy voice. ”It’s just that this Divine Clan being died inside the Demon Hideout Cave!”

”Divine Clan?” The newcomer’s eyes widened as he said, ”There really are gods?”

”That I don’t know. There aren’t many ancestral records!” Wanyan Hongsheng shrugged and said, ”But judging from what our ancestors wrote, the so-called Divine Clan should be a race, different from what we mean when we say ’gods’!”

”Oh?” The newcomer was puzzled. He glanced at the skeleton on the page and lowered his voice. ”Then what’s the deal with this skeleton?”

”This skeleton was formed from the corpse of a Divine Clan being. Ordinarily, when a person dies, their power dissipates. But the Demon Hideout Cave is an exception. People who die in there have their power entirely absorbed by the Devouring Demon Flower, leaving behind only bone!” Wanyan Hongsheng said, ”However, the Divine Clan is a special race. After they die, their power hides within the skeleton and is not absorbed by the Devouring Demon Flower. So this skeleton contains all the power of that Divine Clan being!”

”And once this skeleton leaves the Demon Hideout Cave and is separated from the cave’s power, the power inside it will erupt. Do you know how terrifying that eruption is?” Wanyan Hongsheng looked at the subordinate below and sneered. ”If all that power were to be released, it would be more than enough to kill those people!”

”Ah!?” The newcomer sucked in a sharp breath, clearly shocked by the matter of the Divine Clan skeleton.

The Purple Robe Lama was just as shaken. He had never imagined he would hear something like this here. It seemed Wanyan Hongsheng truly had laid everything out carefully and really meant to kill those people. In that case, the ones heading to Panlong Valley were all in grave danger. No, he had to stop them as soon as possible!

”This Divine Clan skeleton actually has such might?” The newcomer stared at the skeleton in horror and said, ”But how do we use this skeleton against those people? Didn’t you say that as soon as the skeleton leaves the Demon Hideout Cave, its power will erupt?”

”That is indeed the case, but there’s an exception!” Wanyan Hongsheng said. ”Our forebears came up with a method to temporarily suppress that power and then release it when needed. So this skeleton can be completely used by us!”

”Th-this really is miraculous!” The newcomer clicked his tongue in praise and said, ”If the great lord takes a few of these skeletons to the Sword Saint Sect, the Sword Saint Sect probably won’t even be able to resist, right?”

”That’s different!” Wanyan Hongsheng shook his head and said, ”Elder Brother is going to the Sword Saint Sect because he wants to bring the Sword Saint Sect under his command, to have them work for us in the future. He’s not going there to kill them, so naturally he won’t use this kind of killing weapon.”

”So that’s how it is!” The newcomer suddenly understood. Looking at Wanyan Hongsheng, he said, ”Third Master, Ye Qing the Bloody-robed Monk and Shen Tianjun have always been the great thorn in our side. If we can get rid of them and also take back the Sun Shooting Bow, then Third Master will have earned enormous merit this time. When that happens, Third Master’s status within the family will definitely rise. Congratulations, Third Master!”

”Hahahaha…” Wanyan Hongsheng threw his head back and laughed, as if the matter were already settled, his face brimming with excitement.

Up on the ceiling of the hall, the Purple Robe Lama’s heart was pounding wildly. This Wanyan Hongsheng was truly vicious, actually setting up a trap like this for people to jump into. This was getting dangerous. Never mind anything else—right now Ye Qing the Bloody-robed Monk and the people from Sha Men were hurrying toward Panlong Valley. This had to be reported to them, tell them not to go and throw their lives away!

As he was turning things over in his mind, the Purple Robe Lama unconsciously relaxed a little. The patch of plaster his foot was braced against must have been soaked by water or something, because he actually kicked it loose.

The chunk of plaster crashed to the floor, naturally alerting Wanyan Hongsheng and his man over there. Wanyan Hongsheng was the first to leap up, shouting, ”Who’s there!”

That subordinate was even more direct, lunging straight toward this side. Judging from his move, he had to be a Peak Master as well.

The Purple Robe Lama knew his own situation clearly, and didn’t dare hesitate in the slightest. He spun around and ran at once. But his clothes snagged on the sharp edge of a stone pillar beside him, tearing open a slit, and the phone he kept on him tumbled out.

The Purple Robe Lama wanted to turn back and grab the phone, but Wanyan Hongsheng and his man were already rushing over. On top of that, there was a burst of commotion outside the main building; it sounded like quite a few more people had arrived. The Purple Robe Lama didn’t dare linger here at all. He ignored the phone, bolted out of the main building, and sprinted toward the edge of the estate.

Wanyan Hongsheng and his subordinate chased after him at full speed, but compared to the Purple Robe Lama, the gap in speed was still enormous; catching him was impossible. The two of them rushed out of the main building and gave chase for a while, but could only watch helplessly as the Purple Robe Lama escaped beyond the bounds of the estate. Though the Wanyan Family had plenty of people, all the elite members had already gone to the Sword Saint Sect, and few Peak Masters were left; they simply couldn’t stop the Purple Robe Lama.

Unable to catch him, Wanyan Hongsheng and his man finally had to give up and return to the main building. That subordinate had already picked up the phone from the ground and now handed it to Wanyan Hongsheng, saying, ”Third Master, this was left by that person just now!”

Wanyan Hongsheng took the phone and opened it for a look. There were several numbers stored on it, but none with names; there was no way to determine that man’s identity from the phone numbers, nor to find out who those numbers belonged to.

”Third Master, that man’s speed is just too fast. It looks like there’s no way we’re ever going to catch him!” The subordinate drew a deep breath and said quietly, ”We don’t know how long he’d been hiding here. It seems he heard our plan. Should we change the plan?”

Wanyan Hongsheng inhaled slowly and said in a low voice, ”No need to change it.”

”Huh?” The subordinate froze for a moment, staring at Wanyan Hongsheng in surprise. ”Third Master, the… the plan’s already leaked, and we still don’t change it?”

”Why should we change it?” Wanyan Hongsheng gave him a sidelong glance. ”Even if they know the plan, are they not going to Panlong Valley?”

”This…” The subordinate opened his mouth, then shut it again. It was exactly as Wanyan Hongsheng said: even if the plan was exposed, these people could not possibly avoid going to Panlong Valley. If they didn’t go to Panlong Valley, then Bai Li Xi and the others would be completely trapped and die inside. Ye Qing and his group would absolutely not stand by and watch them die.

”But if they know our plan and start thinking of ways to deal with us, what then?” The subordinate glanced at the little booklet beside him and lowered his voice. ”For example, that Divine Clan corpse—once those people know about the Divine Clan corpse, they’ll likely come up with a plan aimed specifically at it. When that happens, this whole plan…”

”Hmph, that’s nothing to worry about.” Wanyan Hongsheng gave a cold smile. ”Even if they know the Divine Clan corpse is a massive killing tool, they won’t necessarily know how the corpse must be preserved.”

”What do you mean?” the subordinate asked in puzzlement.

Wanyan Hongsheng glanced at him. ”Hmph. When the time comes, even if we let them see the Divine Clan corpse, they might not recognize it. In that situation, how are they supposed to guard against it?”

”Not recognize it?” The subordinate was even more confused, having no idea what Wanyan Hongsheng meant. But seeing Wanyan Hongsheng’s confident expression, he didn’t press further. Since Wanyan Hongsheng had decided to push ahead with the plan, he naturally couldn’t stop him. Besides, he also wanted to see the corpse’s power for himself, to find out whether it really was as Wanyan Hongsheng claimed—able to slaughter so many people in one stroke!

”Stop asking about this. It must not leak out any further!” Wanyan Hongsheng said gravely. ”According to the plan, immediately gather our forces and head for Panlong Valley. Remember, don’t stop them from entering Panlong Valley—but under no circumstances are they to be allowed back out. Understood?”

”Yes!”

The subordinate answered, then hurried out of the hall to begin allocating manpower according to the original plan. In the main building, cold light kept flashing in Wanyan Hongsheng’s eyes, and his fists were clenched tight. This was the battle he had been plotting for a long time, a battle that concerned his position within the Wanyan Family. How could he possibly abandon it because of a few such complications?
