Urban Martial Saint

Setting off overnight, it was already late the next morning when Ye Qing finally reached Xi Hang. Black Bear had driven for over ten hours straight, and though he was as tough as iron, he was starting to feel exhausted.

During this time, the Twin Life Gu acted up several times, each time causing Ye Qing to break out in a cold sweat from the pain. Ye Qing was considered quite resilient, and though the pain was unbearable, he clenched his teeth and endured it. He knew that this was actually Wang Tian’an’s deliberate use of the Twin Life Gu to torture him. After all, Wang Tian’an had a plan that he’d been plotting for twenty years, which was almost ruined by Ye Qing, and he harbored a deep hatred for Ye Qing. He didn’t kill Ye Qing outright because he wanted to break Ye Qing’s spirit and force him into submission, but the torture was unavoidable.

They were about to enter Xi Hang, and Black Bear, struggling to keep awake, turned and asked Ye Qing, ”Captain, how do we get to Shen Family Manor?”

Ye Qing had just endured a bout of pain and was barely returning to normal, though his voice was still weak. He slowly told Black Bear the location of Shen Family Manor and then leaned back in his seat, unable even to sit up straight. The pain from the Twin Life Gu was enough to leave one utterly exhausted, wishing for death.

Seeing Ye Qing’s frail state, Black Bear grew anxious. He quickly turned the car around and headed towards Shen Family Manor, following the directions Ye Qing had given him.

Shen Family Manor was on the outskirts of the city, in a more secluded area. Not many people visited there, and without guidance, it would be impossible to find Shen Family Manor.

Ye Qing had been there once before, so he was somewhat familiar with the area. Black Bear followed Ye Qing’s route for about twenty minutes when suddenly, two black sedans appeared on the road ahead, blocking the way. A man stood beside one of the cars, waving at Black Bear’s car from a distance, signaling for him to stop.

Black Bear frowned but was prepared to step on the gas and rush through. Just then, Ye Qing, sitting in the back, patted him on the shoulder and whispered, ”Let’s see what they have to say, don’t rush through. Try to avoid conflict with locals.”

”Alright,” Black Bear followed Ye Qing’s instructions, slowly reducing speed and stopping in front of the two cars. But he didn’t get out of the car, only rolled down the window a crack and loudly asked, ”What’s up?”

The man walked over to Black Bear’s car and glanced at the two inside. Seeing that both Ye Qing and Black Bear were unfamiliar, he didn’t pay much attention.

”Brother, this is Xihua Gang’s business, the road ahead is closed, please take a detour if you have any needs!” the man said.

Ye Qing and Black Bear had never heard of the Xihua Gang, but it was certainly a local gang in Xi Hang. From the looks of it, the Xihua Gang was planning something here and dared to close the road, indicating they probably had significant influence in Xi Hang.

”Brother, we have an urgent matter and must take this road. Could you let us through, please?” Black Bear asked.

”There are so many roads in Xi Hang, but you have to take this one?” The man replied irritably, ”Brother, if you don’t show respect to the Xihua Gang in Xi Hang, I’m afraid whatever urgent matter you have will be hard to deal with. Show respect and take a detour, don’t make it difficult for us underlings!”

If they wanted to take a detour, it was possible, but it would take an extra twenty miles. Given Ye Qing’s condition, who knew if the Twin Life Gu would act up again if they took such a long detour?

Black Bear furrowed his brow and said, ”We really have a pressing matter and must take this road, brother, please, can you make an exception?”

”Stop babbling!” The man snapped angrily, ”Trying to refuse a toast only to drink a forfeit, eh? I’m telling you, the Xihua Gang has something important happening here today. The blades and swords have no eyes, and it wouldn’t look good if you were hurt. I’ll tell you one last time, either take the detour, or become an enemy of the Xihua Gang, your choice!”

Black Bear was also getting angry and was about to lose his temper when Ye Qing, sitting in the back, suddenly spoke up, ”Xiong Zi, forget it, let’s take the detour!”

”Captain...” Black Bear anxiously looked at Ye Qing and said, ”Your injury...”

”No problem, just drive faster, we can still make it in time!” Ye Qing replied.

Black Bear looked at Ye Qing, gritted his teeth, glared at the man from Xihua Gang, and finally turned the car around, preparing to take a detour.

However, just as he turned the car around, an uproar suddenly erupted from the front. Ye Qing turned to look and saw a black sedan speeding out from the small forest ahead, followed by six or seven other cars, seemingly in pursuit of it.

”Stop him! Don’t let him get away!” Someone shouted, sticking their head out of the cars trailing behind.

The two cars on the road ahead quickly moved into action, directly blocking the entire road, preventing the black sedan from passing through.

The black sedan seemed to be making a desperate struggle, crashing into the two cars, but though it broke out, its front wheel was almost wrecked in the process. With the speed it was going, the car flipped over several times on the ground, finally crashing heavily onto the roadside.

As soon as the car steadied, the door was kicked open, and four men stumbled out, rushing towards Ye Qing and Black Bear’s car.

Black Bear had just turned the car around and hadn’t had time to accelerate when the four men rushed over, ripping open the car door and forcing their way in.

”Drive quickly, or we’ll kill you!” one of the men drew a dagger to threaten Black Bear, who responded by punching the dagger out of his hand.

These four men really had no sense, trying to hijack the car of Black Bear and Ye Qing — weren’t they looking for trouble?

After knocking the dagger out of the man’s hand, Black Bear grabbed him by the neck and tossed him out of the car. As he was about to attack the second man, a surprised voice suddenly came over, ”Mr. Ye, is that you?”

Ye Qing, at this moment, finally recognized the four men. Three of them were strangers, but the one who had spoken was someone he knew. It wasn’t anyone else but White Wolf, Huangfu Ziyu’s driver, White Wolf!

Seeing White Wolf, Ye Qing hesitated. Could it be that the people the Xihua Gang was attacking were actually Huangfu Ziyu’s subordinates?

”What are you doing here?” Ye Qing asked in surprise.

”It’s a long story,” White Wolf hurried into the car and said, ”Mr. Ye, drive immediately, this is not a place to talk.”

The other three realized they were acquaintances, stopped fighting, and quickly jumped into the car. Black Bear didn’t say much, was just about to drive away, but then suddenly more cars came rushing over from the road behind, blocking the entire way.

Seeing such a scene, White Wolf and his companions’ expressions changed, and he said in a deep voice, ”These Xihua Gang bastards, they really are despicable. Do they mean to eliminate us completely this time?”

”What exactly is going on?” Ye Qing asked, ”Where is Miss Huangfu? Is she... is she okay?”

”She’s fine!” White Wolf replied, ”Miss is at Shen Family Manor. We had just dropped her off and were on our way back when we were ambushed by these Xihua Gang bastards.”

”Do you have a grudge against the Xihua Gang?” Ye Qing asked in surprise.

”Not really a grudge, but since Miss plans to revive the Huangfu Household here, there will inevitably be clashes with local forces.” White Wolf said in a deep voice, ”The Xihua Gang is one of the two biggest gangs in Xi Hang and has always been our biggest rival!”

Black Bear remarked, ”These guys are really bold, dare to cause trouble right at the door of Shen Family Manor, isn’t that courting death?”

”Shen Family Manor is a martial arts family, they don’t concern themselves with squabbles over territories,” White Wolf explained. ”Shen Family Manor mostly deters other martial arts world people, keeping them from causing trouble. However, these gang feuds and power struggles mostly involve ordinary people. The Shen Family consists of martial artists, they cannot get involved in such matters.”

Ye Qing understood these things. Just like his previous encounters in Shenchuan City with various gang confrontations, even though the Ghost-faced Judge Cui Yu protected his people, Cui Yu never got involved in those matters. Martial artists generally don’t target ordinary people. Shen Family Manor had such a reputation and would never engage in such things. Otherwise, how could the Xihua Gang dare to target Huangfu Ziyu?

”Looks like we can’t escape this one!” White Wolf gritted his teeth and said in a deep voice, ”Mr. Ye, you should leave, this is our business, no need to involve you!”

Ye Qing didn’t respond but instead turned to Black Bear and said seriously, ”Xiong Zi, reverse the car!”

”Reverse?” Black Bear was puzzled and said, ”But there are cars behind us too?”

”I know, just reverse!” Ye Qing instructed.

Without another word, Black Bear put the car in reverse gear, stepped on the gas, and charged back.

From the small forest behind them, five or six cars had burst out, along with the two cars from earlier, totaling seven or eight vehicles blocking the rear. Seeing Black Bear reversing towards them, these seven or eight cars simultaneously rushed forward, obviously intending to rely on their numbers to stop Ye Qing and the others’ car.

White Wolf and his three companions sat nervously in the car, unsure of what Ye Qing intended to do. As for Black Bear, he was quite single-minded, doing whatever Ye Qing told him. From the looks of it, he was planning to drive directly into the seven or eight cars — isn’t that suicide?

As the vehicles drew closer to each other, Ye Qing suddenly retrieved an ancient-style longsword from the back seat — the Seven-Star Ancient Sword.

”Open the sunroof!” Ye Qing commanded in a deep voice.

Without hesitation, Black Bear opened the sunroof. The car had a panoramic sunroof, offering ample opening space.

Holding the Seven-Star Ancient Sword, Ye Qing jumped onto the roof of the car, surveyed the seven or eight incoming vehicles, suddenly drew his sword from its sheath, and leaped towards them, landing directly on the hood of the foremost car. He raised the sword and thrust downward, aiming directly at the driver with a piercing attack.

The driver never expected Ye Qing to be so fierce and instinctively tried to duck aside. But he was strapped in with a seatbelt and couldn’t dodge, causing the steering wheel to turn as he twisted, making the car veer sharply around Black Bear’s vehicle. Nevertheless, he couldn’t evade Ye Qing’s thrust and was impaled through by the sword.
