Urban Martial Saint

The Bloody Monk shook his head and said, ”The reason I don’t use these two items is that if I were to use them, I’d have to first erase everything I’ve learned before. In other words, if I use these two items, all my martial arts skills will be abolished, and I’d have to start over from scratch.”

Old Wang Ba widened his eyes in astonishment, glanced at the Murderer’s Manual and Murderer’s Knife, and suddenly said, ”Damn, then you’re the one who should definitely use these things!”

The Bloody Monk ignored Old Wang Ba’s mocking. Though these two items were incredibly powerful, he genuinely didn’t dare to use them. After all, he had plenty of enemies. If he lost all his martial arts skills and relied solely on these two items, he might become stronger in the future, but he didn’t dare to take the risk. It wasn’t impossible that he’d be killed halfway through before he even got stronger.

The reason the Bloody Monk brought out these items was precisely because he believed that in this world, at his level of mastery, no one dared to use them. Or rather, anyone with comparable strength wouldn’t dare to take the gamble. No one could guarantee they’d become stronger after using them. But if their strength first deteriorated and then they were killed, that would truly be a loss they couldn’t recover from.

Therefore, for experts, these two items were essentially useless. The Bloody Monk taking them out to gamble with the Dirty Monk was actually quite fitting.

The Bloody Monk looked at the Dirty Monk and said, ”So, Brother, do you dare to make a bet with me?”

The Dirty Monk glanced at the Murderer’s Knife and the Murderer’s Manual, sighed, and said, ”Fate, such fate. Since these two items have resurfaced in this world, it must be Heaven’s will. Fine, I’ll take this bet. Who do you plan to choose to receive these two items?”

”Brother, I’m not trying to take advantage of you. Here’s the deal...” said the Bloody Monk. ”We’ll just wait right here in this valley. The first person to enter this valley will be the one we choose. What do you think?”

The Dirty Monk nodded and said, ”Fine, let’s do that!”

Old Wang Ba, standing nearby, looked at the Dirty Monk and then at the Bloody Monk before suddenly laughing, ”This is an interesting bet. I’m curious to see which unlucky bastard gets ’lucky’ enough to end up with these two deadly items!”

The Bloody Monk and Dirty Monk said nothing. Both sat quietly in meditation, eyes fixed on the valley’s entrance. At this hour before dawn, who would wander into such a desolate and uninhabited valley?

In the town, at the home of Wu Tiande’s concubine, Ding San had already been beaten bloody and unconscious. However, the surrounding people showed no sign of letting him off. They poured a basin of cold water over him to wake him up and then dragged him up to beat him again.

Wu Tiande sat nearby, his eyes bloodshot, staring deathly at Ding San as he kept roaring, ”Beat him! Beat him to death! That bastard, you son of a bitch, you dared to kill my family! If I don’t torture you to death, I swear I’m not a Wu!”

Wu Tiande had already learned that his entire family had been murdered. Now that he had Ding San in his grasp, he naturally wouldn’t let him go. They had already been beating Ding San for half an hour, but his rage hadn’t subsided. He had made up his mind to beat Ding San to death today.

While the group was enthusiastically beating him, a police officer walked in from outside and said, ”Chief, we just found out that Ding San sent his son to a private orphanage in Shenchuan City yesterday!”

”A private orphanage in Shenchuan City?” Police Chief Lin Yong immediately frowned and said, ”Ye Qing’s orphanage?”

”Yes!” the officer replied.

”Damn, this bastard is quite clever!” Lin Yong said angrily. ”He sent his son to that place. Now it’ll be difficult to get him back!”

”Old Lin, where exactly is his son?” Wu Tiande, who hadn’t caught the full conversation, growled impatiently. ”Hurry and find his son for me! Damn it, I want to torture his son to death right in front of his eyes to avenge mine!”

Lin Yong shrugged helplessly and said, ”His son isn’t here. I’m afraid it’s impossible to bring him back now.”

”What do you mean it’s impossible?” Wu Tiande asked angrily. ”Didn’t you just say you found out where his son is? Just bring him back directly!”

”That’s easier said than done,” Lin Yong replied. ”His son is now in Ye Qing’s orphanage in Shenchuan City. That orphanage is run by Ye Qing, the current underground boss of Shenchuan City. Taking the boy from him is absolutely impossible!”

”What the hell, who’s this Ye Qing? I’ve never even heard of him!” Wu Tiande said. ”Old Lin, is it about money? If you need more, I’ll get it for you right now. What’s this so-called orphanage but a front for laundering money? Go tell that Ye guy, if he personally hands over Ding San’s son, I’ll give him one million yuan. What’s he gonna do, refuse? Some two-bit thug playing at being somebody? If I don’t give him face, what the hell is he!”

Seeing Wu Tiande’s arrogance, Lin Yong sighed and said, ”Old Wu, are you out of your mind with anger? Don’t you know who Ye Qing is?”

”Who the hell is Ye Qing?” Wu Tiande sneered. ”This is the first time I’m hearing that name!”

Lin Yong took a deep breath and said, ”He’s the one who helped Director Liu of the Provincial Public Security Bureau find his daughter and granddaughter, wiped out all the Beggar King’s strongholds in Tianhui City, and completely shook up the entire Tianhui police force!”

”What!?” Wu Tiande’s eyes widened. Everything Lin Yong described was something he had heard of, but he hadn’t known these were all done by Ye Qing, let alone that the person behind it was the head of an orphanage in Shenchuan City.

”This guy loves doing charity work. The kids in the orphanage are all ones he took in. I’ve heard he treats them very well. For these kids, he’s even killed quite a few people. The Beggar King in Tianhui City, for example, was exploiting children to make money, and Ye Qing wiped out all his operations.” Lin Yong paused and added, ”Now that Ding San’s son is in his orphanage, trying to take him away won’t be easy. Old Wu, I suggest you give up on using Ding San’s son for revenge. Just kill Ding San and be done with it. If you provoke that Ye Qing, neither of us will be enough to save ourselves!”

”Fuck that! Just another gangster thug playing the saint,” Wu Tiande spat furiously. ”Does this guy have some kind of mental illness or what? Taking in so many kids—how much does that cost every month? Meddling in other people’s business, even killing over it. I swear, I want to see just how long he can keep his arrogance up!”

Despite his bluster, Wu Tiande didn’t actually dare to confront Ye Qing. All he could do was scold Ye Qing furiously in the room.

As Wu Tiande continued cursing, the room’s door was suddenly pushed open without warning. Everyone inside turned their heads to look, and at the doorway, a large man built like a steel tower stood silently, his presence oppressive.

Behind him were several others. As the door swung open, they rushed inside without hesitation.

”Who are you?” Lin Yong stood up and shouted loudly, ”We’re police handling a case. Who do you think you are?”

Ignoring Lin Yong’s words, the intruders pressed the two police officers who stepped forward flat onto the ground.

Seeing the situation turning, Lin Yong immediately reached for his gun at his waist. But before he could draw, the giant at the door stepped forward, grabbed him by the neck with one hand, and flung him against the wall. The impact left Lin Yong dazed, unable to recover or even think about pulling his gun.

The giant wasn’t done with him yet. Turning back, he grabbed Lin Yong again and threw him a second time. This time, Lin Yong was knocked out cold.

The other police officers in the room were all subdued by the giant’s men, while the giant himself walked over to Ding San and untied the ropes binding him. ”My name is Black Bear,” he said. ”My captain is Ye Qing from Shenchuan City, and he sent me to rescue you.”

After saying this, Black Bear waved a hand and ordered, ”Take him out!”

Without hesitation, the others helped Ding San to his feet and escorted him out of the room. Black Bear didn’t immediately follow; instead, he turned and walked over to Wu Tiande, who was trembling in fear. ”Were you the one cursing at Ye Qing just now?” he asked.

Wu Tiande quickly shook his head, but Black Bear slapped him hard across the face. ”I heard it all clearly from outside the door. If it wasn’t you, then who? Listen up, Ye Qing is my captain. Insulting my captain is the same as insulting me, and insulting me comes with consequences!”

With those words, Black Bear punched Wu Tiande square on the mouth.

Though Wu Tiande looked burly, he was all flab with no strength. Black Bear’s punch sent him stumbling backward until he fell to the ground, losing most of his teeth in one blow. The pain brought tears to his eyes.

”If my captain hadn’t ordered me not to kill anyone, I’d have killed you, you bastard!” Black Bear snarled as he stomped on Wu Tiande’s chest. ”You piece of scum, honestly, the world would be better off without you!”

The stomp broke several of Wu Tiande’s ribs. He was drenched in sweat from the pain and couldn’t even scream, as doing so would only strain his chest and intensify the agony.

Just as Black Bear was about to strike again, two gunshots suddenly rang out from downstairs. Black Bear’s expression changed instantaneously, and he hurriedly turned and ran downstairs. From afar, he saw several police officers rushing in through the front entrance, with the gunshots clearly coming from their direction. Judging by the look of things, they intended to block Black Bear and his team’s escape.

Black Bear noticed that outside the door, dozens of men were preparing to charge in. These weren’t police officers—likely local thugs and small-time gangsters aiming to seize Ding San.

Faced with such a chaotic situation, Black Bear frowned deeply. If these people managed to surround them inside, there would be no way for Ding San to escape.

Black Bear darted down the hallway and reached their vehicle. Speaking in a low voice, he said, ”Take Ding San and leave now. I’ll cover you. Go!”
