Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 428: Chapter 408: Flowers of the Cemetery

After getting off the plane, the two did not hesitate and immediately sent the items back to their home, and then Luo Qianqian directly pulled Xu Tianyi into a flower shop, ”A bunch of Dendrobium, make it look nice.”

Xu Tianyi paused, naturally knowing what Dendrobium was, and looked at Luo Qianqian with tenderness, ”Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”

Xu Tianyi could guess this matter from a bunch of flowers, which was within Luo Qianqian’s expectation. If he couldn’t guess, that would be beyond her expectations.

”Besides visiting with my brother every year, I have never gone by myself.” Luo Qianqian hugged the flowers as Xu Tianyi paid the bill, and as they walked she continued, ”I don’t know why, but I always feel that’s not my dad there. You know, my dad’s body has never been found to this day; it’s just a set of clothes in there.”

Xu Tianyi knew about the Luo family’s situation – not the dubious news known by the Xu family, but what he heard from the Luo family made clear that this had always been a sore point for the Luo family, unresolvable and eventually given up on. After all, the disaster had been too widespread at the time, and he wasn’t the only one missing, so there was no elaborate search undertaken openly. However, being a member of the Luo family, they still sought news in secret.

”However, that is also my emotional crutch, making me feel like I still have some emotional support.”

Otherwise, I always feel like my family is incomplete, always feeling like my mom is abandoned.”

”Don’t think about it too much. Actually, no news is good news, isn’t it?” Xu Tianyi paused for a moment and sighed lightly. He knew all too well that not only was hope slim after so much time had passed – let alone a year, what more after more than a decade?

”I have no concept of my dad. Uncle Lin is very kind to me, but I still can’t call out ’dad’. I always feel that the term is very foreign to me.”

”My brother said that Dad was a good man, who would lift him high, but I’ve never seen him. We don’t even have a single photo of him at home.”

”Grandma said that Dad was gentle but stubborn. Once he set his mind on something, he wouldn’t let go.”

At this point, Luo Qianqian turned her head to look at Xu Tianyi beside her, with a smile, ”I’m not gentle, but I’m quite stubborn.”

Xu Tianyi hailed a cab, and after they told the driver their destination, they remained silent.

Luo Qianqian was already familiar with this place, the location etched in her heart. As she quietly ascended the stairs, she saw someone descending the staircase on the other side, surprised that someone else was visiting a loved one at noon on such a day.

It was when she stood before that familiar chilly tombstone that Luo Qianqian felt something was off.

That person was clearly an older man. How could an adult man make such a mistake? Looking at the carnation in front of the father’s tombstone, Luo Qianqian frowned – it was not the flower that should be there.

”Maybe it was placed by mistake.” Xu Tianyi also noticed and frowned slightly, but he stopped Luo Qianqian from chasing after the man.

Luo Qianqian paused for a moment and nodded, placing the flower in front of the tombstone, ”I’ve come to see you again. My brother couldn’t make it this year. The person with me is someone I care for. I brought him to see you. If he ever treats me poorly in the future, you can haunt him in his dreams.” Luo Qianqian said this with a laugh.

Xu Tianyi was also smiling lightly, whispering, ”Not acting properly.” Then he bowed respectfully, ”Hello, Uncle. I am Xu Tianyi, and I will take good care of Qianqian.”

”Who needs your care?” Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes, ”Don’t listen to his nonsense. He’s about to go abroad. I thought I’d bring him here for you to see. Mom has already met him. Keep an eye on him for me, and if he does anything to betray me, scare him.”

Xu Tianyi listened, his eyes curving with a smile. Despite the inappropriate setting, he still found the young girl incredibly adorable.

Luo Qianqian chattered non-stop about the recent events, and just before she left, she added one more thing, ”Don’t forget to help me keep an eye on him when you’re free.”

Then, Xu Tianyi took her away. This guy was seriously boring. Even if he was guilt-free, he couldn’t stand her emphasizing it to scare people like that. Thinking about it, if there really was a soul sneakily watching him, watching everything he did afterward, it would make his skin crawl.

”Going back to pack up?” Luo Qianqian asked calmly after getting down.

Xu Tianyi nodded. Actually, everything had been packed already, but he didn’t know what else to do. If they went out for fun, time would be too tight. He could only go back and see if there was anything else he needed to take.

The two of them hailed a taxi and left, not noticing that after they left, the black luxury car that had been parked by the roadside slowly started moving.

Back at Luo Yanran’s apartment, Xu Tianyi opened his neatly packed suitcase. Luo Qianqian seriously hung a peace charm inside the suitcase, clapped her hands with satisfaction, and said, ”I’ve put my mom’s in the pillowcase, my younger siblings’ in their clothes suitcase, and yours in your suitcase now too. Oh, and this.” She then took out a Marriage Talisman with a mischievous smile and hung it in his suitcase, ”Remember to take it out and put it under your pillow when we get to where we’re staying.”

Xu Tianyi looked at the pair of Marriage Talismans, startled. He thought she was joking, that she had gotten them for her mom and Uncle Lin.

Luo Qianqian took out her own backpack, which had three talismans hanging on it. Two were from the Luo Family’s Old Master as a token of his affection, and one was part of the pair with his.

He smiled, his eyes and brows all tender.

”Xu Tianyi, I really don’t want you to leave,” Luo Qianqian sniffed, pulling a box out of her bag, ”My mom and Uncle Lin have already given you gifts, and this is mine for you. With this, you can marry me in the future.”

Xu Tianyi opened the box. Inside was a Jade Pendant, lustrous and a brilliant green, clearly valuable just from the look, and even more so confirmed by its feel.

”I got this from Grandma. We can’t just prepare things for daughters-in-law and grand-daughters-in-law, right?” Luo Qianqian saw the puzzlement in his eyes and spoke, ”Don’t lose it, this thing is recognized by the Luo Family.”

After hearing Luo Qianqian’s words, Xu Tianyi was not put off by the slight malice in her tone. He didn’t care about the talk of marrying. He knelt before Luo Qianqian, ”Will you put it on for me?”

Luo Qianqian smiled as she picked up the Jade Pendant, hung the neat circular Jade Pendant around his slender neck, and watched him stand up, frowning slightly, ”How come it seems to ruin your style, making you look older?”

Luo Qianqian also wore a Red String around her neck but only wore it at home and out for fun, as it wasn’t safe for her when she usually went out, and she worried about damaging it.

Xu Tianyi laughed, ”You should have given me a Thumb Ring to wear directly; then who would dare mess with me?”

”That makes sense. Why didn’t you say so earlier?”

”Qianqian, it all feels a bit surreal... Why would you bring me back to your place?”

Before he could finish his sentence, he felt a sharp pain around his waist and saw Luo Qianqian’s hand twist 360 degrees on his skin, making him cry out in pain.

”See, it hurts, doesn’t it? It’s real,” she said.

Luo Qianqian showed no sign of realizing she had done something wrong, instead feeling quite pleased with herself.
