Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 412: Chapter 393: Being Schemed?

When she reached the apartment, Luo Qianqian squinted her eyes, knocked on the door, raised her hand, and aimed the gun at the person. The person hadn’t even had the chance to react when the gunshot sounded and he fell. Luo Qianqian’s face was covered in blood.

Hu Si was already shocked, then watched as Luo Qianqian calmly wiped her face with her hand, turned around, and headed downstairs, ”Aren’t you leaving? Do you want to attract flies?”

She took the elevator down, got into the car, and went home. The actual task had not taken more than five minutes. Luo Qianqian ignored the bloodstains all over her, and the first thing she did when she got back was head for the shower. Then Feng saw the perfectly good sportswear thrown into the trashcan.

The next day during class, Yang Zhen noticed that something was off with Luo Qianqian. Her face clearly showed exhaustion, yet her bright eyes radiated excitement. The courses that had pained her the day before were completed even earlier today, and she had even added to the intensity. After she left, Yang Zhen immediately tried to call Hu Si, only to find his phone was turned off.

In the shooting class, whether it was with a gun or a bow and arrow, she aimed and shot with calm after the increased weight, maintaining a composed and calm demeanor, puzzling her coach.

Back in her room, she resumed reading, quietly memorizing the course content Hu Si had assigned.

After a while, Feng came to bring her a new set of sportswear and shoes. She smiled, changed, and followed Hu Si out.

Another task resolved in five minutes, yet Hu Si felt more and more that there was something not right with Luo Qianqian, but he couldn’t get in touch with him anymore. He somewhat failed to understand the current situation, but Luo Qianqian was clearly overexerting herself with the tasks she pursued.

Luo Qianqian didn’t understand what was happening to her. She wasn’t scared anymore; instead, she felt increasingly spirited. She knew it wasn’t right and even knew she should rest, but she couldn’t sleep. She could only continue the training she was supposed to do, yet she didn’t feel tired or hungry.

She even wondered if she was experiencing a ”return to light” phenomenon. Could this be why she had such boundless energy?

Or was she still in a dream, hence not feeling anything?

But everything felt so real, except for those tasks completed in five minutes.

Luo Qianqian felt that she wasn’t well, very unwell, but she couldn’t help it. She was aware of herself, but she didn’t want to smile.

Hu Si stood at the door watching Luo Qianqian, who had just returned from a shower and was burying herself in her book, and furrowed his brow slightly. Under his gaze, she hadn’t eaten for two nights since the day she took the gun, and she had been acting strangely, but that was clearly what the fox had said.

Luo Qianqian left the light on all night; Feng stood by the door the entire night.

Luo Qianqian saw that it was daylight, packed up her stuff, and went to class.

This time, both Yang Zhen and her coach noticed she was very out of sorts.

When Hu Si came to pick her up, he didn’t say a word and just knocked her out with a chop of his hand. He clearly saw a look of relief in her eyes right before she passed out.

She then slept for two days and woke up still a bit dizzy, with aches all over her body. The long period without food combined with the overexertion had left her in great pain now that she regained sensation.

White ceilings, white walls, and the ticking of the IV stand convinced Luo Qianqian that she was in a hospital.

She looked at Feng sitting by her bed with a worried look, tried to smile, but couldn’t speak.

Feng, relieved to see her open her eyes, said, ”Wait for me, I’ll go call the doctor.” Luo Qianqian nodded.

After the doctor came in and carefully checked Luo Qianqian’s pupils and heartbeat, he issued orders for other tests before pulling Feng aside outside the door, ”You parents need to be careful too. Don’t let your children come into contact with those substances. This was just skin contact. If she had ingested it, even Hua Tuo alive today would be helpless.”

Hu Si nodded, his face full of anger.

Back in the hospital room, he moistened Luo Qianqian’s lips with a cotton swab before slowly asking, ”Is there anything you’d like to eat?”

Luo Qianqian shook her head. Although her mind had been offline these past few days, she was aware of what she had done. Strangely, when she recalled the experience, she felt no fear, which surprised her.

Feng sighed, ”I don’t know what’s going on right now, but don’t worry, I will definitely give you an explanation.” Clenching his fists tightly, he added, ”I’ll go buy some porridge for you; you lie down for a while.”

Luo Qianqian nodded her head.

As soon as Feng left the hospital room, his face darkened. Who had been administering neurostimulants on the walls? And it was Hu Si who had him deliver it to Luo Qianqian, but could it be Hu Si? It seemed impossible; he had countless opportunities to do so, there was no need for this, and only he, Uncle Zhuang, Ji Xun, Qianqian, and the mysterious Lu Simiao were in the courtyard.

Those who had free time to go to the warehouse seemed to all have the opportunity.

But what kind of deep hatred would someone need to have to do this to a child?

And just then, Hu Si was out of touch. If it were normal times, it wouldn’t be a big deal, but at such a time, it really made his teeth itch with anger.

Luo Qianqian was also pondering this problem. She had never thought she would be poisoned, but she knew something must have been done to her to behave so abnormally. If Feng hadn’t knocked her out, she feared she would have died from exhaustion by now, not eating, drinking, or sleeping—who could endure that?

But thinking it over, the ones she had contact with before she felt unwell were just four people: Yang Zhen, Coach, Lu Simiao, and Feng.

Yang Zhen was a bit too distant in time to consider; she could exclude him. The Coach, other than giving her a couple of rulers length apart, had no other contact; she could rule him out too.

Feng, who had eventually knocked her out and saved her, had no reason to be Feng, but that left only one person, Lu Simiao. Lu Simiao bore her no grudges, even calling her ’sister’ made no sense.

Not only could Luo Qianqian not understand it, but Feng also couldn’t make sense of it.

Meanwhile, the chief culprit was sitting in a grand restaurant in Capital City, sipping fine wine and enjoying gourmet dishes, ”I hope they won’t blame me for being too ruthless.”

Feng even checked fingerprints, but other than Luo Qianqian’s own prints, there were none belonging to anyone else; the medicine’s purchase records also included no names he recognized. The channels for purchasing such drugs were very limited, and all required the buyers’ information to prevent crimes.

Strangely, every individual seemed to have no connection to their group.

Luo Qianqian didn’t understand how she had fallen under such a spell, but wasn’t jade supposed to ward off evil? Yet if it weren’t for some bewitchment, why would she completely ignore her brain’s commands?

”Sister,” Lu Simiao timidly opened the door to the hospital room and walked in, his face full of concern.

”...” Luo Qianqian, unable to speak, simply gestured for Lu Simiao to come and sit by her.

Lu Simiao walked to the chair by the bed and sat down, starting to cry, ”Sister, you’ve been ignoring me these past few days. Don’t you want me anymore?”

Luo Qianqian was taken aback, realizing that it seemed true that she hadn’t interacted with anyone, hardly speaking at all. Could it be some sort of sorcery? A marionette spell? Luo Qianqian’s imagination ran wild as she gently patted Lu Simiao on the head and shook her head.

Seeing Luo Qianqian’s demeanor, Lu Simiao realized his sister was not in good shape and didn’t continue to cry. Instead, he obediently washed a towel and wiped her face. His tender and careful movements deeply moved Luo Qianqian.
