Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 414: Chapter 395: Want to Go Back

Hu Si didn’t go to see Luo Qianqian right away, but gave the item in his hand to Feng, ”Give this to her. I’m just delivering it on someone’s behalf.”

Feng looked at the exquisitely wrapped gift box in his hand and frowned slightly.

Hu Si rolled his eyes, ”Relax, I took it from her place. It’s one of the reasons she needs to go back. She’ll understand once you give it to her.”

Feng nodded, understanding that since the family had been informed, he had no standing to object further.

Back in the room, he saw Luo Qianqian frowning as she absent-mindedly held her phone, looking down without knowing what she was thinking, ”What’s wrong?”

Luo Qianqian looked up, saw Feng, and shook her head, ”Nothing.” Then, noticing the box in Feng’s hand, she expressed some surprise, ”What is that?”

”The fox came back and brought it from your home for you.” Luo Qianqian was stunned and took the box. After unwrapping it and opening the brocade box, she saw a bracelet inside, with red weaving and a bead in the center that was neither jade nor wood in material, perfectly round. The small beads decorating the side, on close inspection, turned out to be jade. When touched, it didn’t feel as cold as jade nor did it have the distinct texture of wood; it felt like stone, yet the temperature was as warm as wood.

Luo Qianqian, looking at the piece of paper stuck on the brocade box, was momentarily stunned. She unfolded the paper and the familiar handwriting sent a jolt of panic through her heart:

Qianqian, by the time you read this letter, I will have probably packed my bags and embarked on a journey to the other side of the ocean. I know what’s in your heart and I wish to be with you through it all, but there’s too much chaos. In five years, at your coming-of-age ceremony, when I return, I will have earned the right to stand by your side and protect you from all harm. Signed: Tianyi.

Luo Qianqian was taken aback, her fingers trembling slightly. Had he left?

She took out her phone and dialed the number.

After a couple of ”Dudu” rings, a voice came from the other end, ”Qianqian?”

”Have you left?” Luo Qianqian blurted out, her usual caution and need for safety thrown to the back of her mind.

Xu Tianyi was taken aback for a moment, ”Not yet.”

”Wait for me to come back.” After Luo Qianqian hung up the phone, she stuffed the note and the bracelet back into the box, clutching it tightly in her hand. Turning to Feng, she announced, ”I need to be discharged.”

Feng was startled but nodded nonetheless.

On the other end, Xu Tianyi was also momentarily stunned, looking at the hung-up phone, then smiled and said softly, ”Alright, I’ll wait for you.”

Luo Qianqian put on the clothes Lu Simiao had brought for her to change into and stood in the hospital room with an indifferent face, tidying up herself and her belongings.

When Feng came back, he saw Luo Qianqian’s indifferent face, as if the excitement and vulnerability he had witnessed moments before were mere illusions.

Luo Qianqian went back to her place, put the stuff from her arms into her bag, and then went straight to Hu Si, ”When’s the mission? When do I pass the assessment? I need to go back.”

To her surprise, Hu Si pulled out an envelope and handed it to her. She opened it to find a plane ticket for tomorrow’s return?

”Decide if you want to deal with it now or after you come back, your choice,” Hu Si said with an air of authority as if she were the boss.

Luo Qianqian frowned, then put down the plane ticket, ”I’m going to find Yang Zhen.” After she spoke, she turned and left without a moment’s delay.

Lu Simiao, holding a plate of freshly-cut watermelon, watched Luo Qianqian who had just returned hurriedly moving out again in bewilderment, ”Where’s sis going?”

Hu Si chuckled, ”She’s off to do what she needs to do.” Then he took out his phone and informed Yang Zhen of the situation.

Sitting in Feng’s car, Luo Qianqian clenched her fists tightly, her physical strength was still not fully recovered, but she had to resolve this. She vaguely sensed that her nightmare problem had been resolved.

When she arrived at the location and got out of the car, she saw Yang Zhen waiting at the entrance with a cheerful smile, greeted her, and stated her purpose.

To her surprise, Yang Zhen nodded his head and led her into the hall. Inside, there were ten teenagers, about her age standing, ”I know you’re eager to get back, but I can’t just let you off. Forget the coach, beat them and you’ll pass.”

Luo Qianqian was silent for a moment before nodding her head.

Fortunately, it was just a gauntlet and not a group fight; otherwise, she would have been defeated instantly.

One, her arms began to tremble slightly.

Two, her legs started to shake as well.

Three, she felt somewhat dizzy.

...

Feng stood at the doorway, watching the scene in front of him, frowning tightly as he asked Yang Zhen, ”Hasn’t she only been learning for less than a month?”

”Tang Sanzang faced eighty-one tribulations before he reached Tianzhu, full of anticipation and impatience, didn’t he? Didn’t he also proceed with down-to-earth steps, one footprint at a time? Since she’s so eager to return, she must endure these,” Yang Zhen smiled, handing Feng a cup of water, ”This is just the first hurdle for her.”

It was then that Feng remembered that mission, his expression changing slightly, ”You don’t actually expect her to pass all the tests in one night, do you?”

By that time, Luo Qianqian had fought the fifth person, blood trickling from a bitten lip, without uttering a word, she wiped the blood away, and got back into position.

”Whether she passes or not, we will send her back; I just don’t want her to feel that fulfilling her wishes is easy.”

Upon hearing Yang Zhen’s words, Feng nodded and remained silent.

Luo Qianqian’s face was expressionless, clearly forcing herself to continue, her stamina obviously failing to keep up.

The next second, she fell to the ground, bent over and vomited all the porridge she had eaten at noon.

Yang Zhen frowned slightly, helping her up, ”Clean this up.” Then he escorted her to one side, ”Rest for a while, it’ll be the same if you come back next time.”

Luo Qianqian shook her head: ”No need.”

She poured the water from Feng’s cup over her head; the area had already been cleaned up. She continued despite her pale complexion. Her opponents, who were all males, hadn’t wanted to bully a little girl; now that she was in such a state, they lost their fighting spirit, letting her defeat them easily, which was truly the desired outcome.

Yang Zhen observed his student’s actions and furrowed his brows, but he didn’t say anything; obviously, he could tell that Luo Qianqian was in a very bad state.

Luo Qianqian realized her opponents were letting her win. She hesitated for a long time before bowing to the tall boys across from her, ”Thank you all.”

Yang Zhen let out a sigh, ”Get lost quickly, don’t make me angry.” He then glared at Luo Qianqian, who bowed to him and said, ”Thank you, Teacher.”

Then she turned and left without looking back.

Feng hurried to follow. Sure enough, the next stop was shooting practice. For Luo Qianqian, this should have been much easier, but her arms and legs were trembling, her eyes were dizzy, and what had been a stationary target now became a moving one. Luo Qianqian sat aside, adjusting her state, the determination in her eyes never wavering.

Feng stepped outside to make a call to Hu Si and explained the situation. Hu Si sighed, saying, ”Come back later, Jin and Uncle Zhuang went to that mission.”

Feng was taken aback, acknowledging the information.

After adjusting for a while and still shaking, Luo Qianqian simply threw away the scope and relied on feeling; the results were much better than before because hitting the target was all it took.

The person in charge said she had passed, and she breathed a sigh of relief, then collapsed to the ground, her vision darkening.

Feng rushed to support her, sighing as he picked her up and thanked the man. Then he carried Luo Qianqian back.

Luo Qianqian had indeed fallen into a deep sleep due to overexertion.

Hu Si, however, had not been idle. Acupuncture and other treatments were effortless on Luo Qianqian while she was unconscious, and with no one shivering or dodging, Feng also breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing Luo Qianqian’s somewhat more relaxed expression

”It’s a pity there are no women here; otherwise, adding a medicinal bath would have her bouncing around like a child by tomorrow.” Hu Si put away the needles and left the room, giving Feng a smile.

Feng was silent for a moment, ”Fox, she seems a bit off.”

Hu Si paused, then smiled, ”Medication side effects; she’ll be fine.”

”I don’t understand; why use that sort of thing?”

”Because she has to go back,” Hu Si sighed. If he wanted to use this method, he would have done it as soon as he took over, but there was no other way. Staying here any longer could be dangerous.

”Why?” Feng frowned.

”Many reasons,” Hu Si smiled and returned to his room with Silver Needle.
