Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 405: Chapter 386: Confession Sonata

”Qin Nuan, um, Qianqian asked me to bring you something. Have you eaten? How about coming out for a meal?” Luo Yanran feigned calmness as he called Qin Nuan.

”Sure, where are we eating? You came over pretty fast this time. I thought you were going to bring Qianqian back with you.” Qin Nuan didn’t suspect a thing; having interacted with him more frequently recently, she knew Luo Yanran was a bit of an airhead, not one to scheme.

”You know about the revolving restaurant that just opened near my place, right? The one on the top floor? I had Brother Sun make a reservation. Qianqian said she wanted to try it, so we’re going to test it out for her,” Luo Yanran was shamelessly using his sister as an excuse for everything.

”Cool, I’ll take pictures and make her drool,” Qin Nuan checked the time: ”I’ll be there in about half an hour.”

Qin Nuan grabbed her bag and hung up the phone, then went downstairs; Coward Luo, of course, wasn’t waiting downstairs anymore. He had chickened out, fearing that showing up now with flowers might scare her away.

When Qin Nuan arrived at the restaurant and realized Luo Yanran hadn’t shown up yet, she was a bit surprised and called to ask. Luo Yanran just said, ”Say ’Mr. Sun made the reservation,’ and you’ll be fine.”

Then the waiter led her to the best seat. Qin Nuan didn’t think much of it and quietly enjoyed the view outside the window.

Being a public figure, Luo Yanran naturally couldn’t just show up openly. So in fact, Sun Zhichao had booked the entire restaurant, with the costs fully covered by Jia Ning.

Coward Luo spent half the day psyching himself up before he finally stomped his foot, took a deep breath, and entered the restaurant with a lavish bunch of red roses.

While many people like blue, he still hoped his love would be like these 99 red roses, enduring forever, holding hands till old age, symbolizing steadfast love.

When Luo Yanran walked in, Qin Nuan knew right away because all the waiters’ eyes were drawn to him. She turned her head and saw:

The youth under the lights, with a bashful smile, clutching vibrant red roses, an exquisite gift box, a firm stride, and that devoted gaze, made her feel like she was in a dream. She stared at the young man and asked, ”Why is Qianqian giving me this?”

The perfect smile on the young man’s face cracked slightly, but he restrained himself: ”This isn’t from Qianqian.”

Qin Nuan was stunned for a while: ”Are you practicing?”

”Qin Nuan,” Luo Yanran took a deep breath, ”I know this might be abrupt, and it hasn’t even been twenty-four hours since I realized my intentions and acted on them, but I’m certain now, I want you. So, Qin Nuan, would you consider dating me with marriage in mind? Through thick and thin, the kind where breaking up means cutting wrists?” Qin Nuan, initially moved to tears by the shock, ended up not knowing whether to laugh or cry because of his last remark.

”Can I think it over?” Qin Nuan didn’t outright reject him and accepted the flowers: ”So, what did Qianqian send me?”

”This gift is for you, this one I’m giving you, and this one is our family’s heirloom,” Luo Yanran grinned and sat down: ”Qianqian said to send me home with you to take care of the family.” He knew Qin Nuan wouldn’t ask further and was very calm about putting it all on his sister.

Qin Nuan opened the two boxes and laughed: ”You can take these back for now, give them to me after I’ve made my decision.”

Luo Yanran shook his head: ”No way, I’ve already given them to you. Qianqian said she won’t recognize me if I can’t win you over.”

Qin Nuan raised an eyebrow; she knew this statement couldn’t be true. Luo Qianqian was very clear-headed; for issues involving both friends and family, she would at most give a suggestion, never meddling too deeply, never putting three people in an awkward position.

”Should I call and ask?” Qin Nuan didn’t reveal her thoughts but raised her eyebrows, her face composed.

”Oh come on, how can you be like this, I already told you...” Luo Yanran couldn’t maintain his facade any longer, exposing his true nature, his goofy side: ”She already said she has enough on her plate raising Baozi, she doesn’t need two single dogs.”

This was indeed true, but... Qin Nuan took a deep look at Luo Yanran. Baozi was alternately taken care of by their two families, right?

Luo Yanran was not at all guilty; instead, he grabbed Qin Nuan’s hand directly. ”Qin Nuan, I’m serious. Last night, after talking with Nuannuan, I realized that I actually have feelings for you. So, please give me a chance, okay? Look, I’m good-looking and can earn money. Moreover, my family is simple with no conflicts. You get along well with my sister too. I’m not very ambitious; I just want to live a simple life with two people, three meals, and four seasons. So, Qin Nuan, please give me a chance, okay?”

Before Qin Nuan could respond, he spoke again. ”I’m not as strong as my brothers, but if you are in danger, I’ll stand in front of you; I’m not as smart as my younger brother, but I’m not too bad. I’ve been in this circle for over a decade, I’ve seen all kinds of beauties...”

Qin Nuan got angry. ”Are you saying I’m ugly?!”

Luo Yanran froze, then quickly explained, ”No, no, I mean, I’ve seen so many people, but you’re the only one who caught my heart. I don’t know if I’ll ever meet someone like you again, but if I let you go, I’ll definitely regret it. Now, you are my future.”

Qin Nuan raised an eyebrow. ”Are you saying you’d leave me for someone more suitable?”

Luo Yanran couldn’t help but laugh and cry. ”Are you nitpicking?” Seeing Qin Nuan glaring, he immediately assured, ”There’s no one more suitable than you. Other than you and my elders and my sister, every other woman in my eyes is like a man. So, only you can dump me; I only want you.”

”Did Qhianqhian give you those lines?” Qin Nuan laughed, listening to this; it sure sounded like that young girl’s style.

Luo Yanran was startled for a moment, then scratched his head. ”Qhianqhian gave me a few lines, but the rest are truly from my heart.”

”I can agree to you, but I have three conditions,” Qin Nuan sighed, deciding to give herself a chance after all Luo Yanran’s looks were good enough, and taking him out wouldn’t be embarrassing.

”Go ahead,” Luo Yanran nodded.

”First, no lies between us when we’re together. If you like someone else, you can tell me directly. I won’t cling on, but if I catch you cheating, Luo Qianqian won’t be able to help you out.”

Luo Yanran nodded. ”No problem, I’ve always been pure and chaste; my family has strict rules.”

”Second, we should be financially independent and have space for each other, not needing to be together all the time. I work here, yes, but I am also a student and have my own life.”

Luo Yanran nodded again. ”That’s also no problem, but you can’t tell your classmates that you don’t have a boyfriend. I don’t mind making it public.”

Qin Nuan was briefly surprised, but then she realized it made sense considering the company behind Luo Yanran was his own family’s, subject to his whims. And the appeal of fans versus the position of his daughter-in-law in President Luo’s heart was self-evident. But realizing all this was one thing; she still cared about her dignity.

”Third, and most importantly, no matter what happens, you’re not allowed to complain to the family about it, especially not to Qhianqhian. She is your sister and my friend, and I don’t want her to be put in a difficult position because of us.”

Luo Yanran nodded. ”I can do that. But you know, my family has this issue of favoring females over males, so if Qhianqhian gets into trouble, I might not be able to prioritize you...”

Qin Nuan obviously knew this, but hearing it still made her roll her eyes. Was this guy straightforward or just foolish?

Why did Qhianqhian have such a simple-minded brother? Was it that all his brains went into his looks?

”I agree to all three conditions. So, do you agree?” Luo Yanran looked at Qin Nuan.

Qin Nuan touched her forehead, tempted to reconsider. She couldn’t bring herself to make a shy nod, the kind that was embarrassingly coy, so she boldly raised an eyebrow. ”Aren’t you going to put it on me?”

Luo Yanran excitedly put a necklace around Qin Nuan’s neck, mumbling, ”Should’ve chosen a lock, then you couldn’t escape.”

Qin Nuan heard this, said nothing, but the slight curve on her lips gave away her feelings.
