I Have a Countryside Gourmet Restaurant

Chapter 383: Chapter 345: Carrying the Japanese Raisin Tree Back to the Restaurant

’Things seem to be going pretty smoothly.’ Li You was overjoyed.

But things rarely go exactly as planned.

A wild boar suddenly darted out from between Li You and Zhang Zongfu.

Li You reacted in a flash, sweeping his bamboo pole at it, hoping to force the boar back.

But unfortunately, it had no effect.

Even though the bamboo pole struck the boar heavily, it didn’t make the animal turn around.

The wild boar charged out.

’Just as I thought, this isn’t going to be so easy.’

’But it’s fine. I just need to chase it down.’

The boar was fast, but Li You was faster.

In a flash, he was in front of it.

Appearing directly in the path of a charging wild boar like this was extremely dangerous.

Because if the boar charged and you failed to dodge in time, you could be seriously injured.

So, Lin Guodong, Zhang Zongfu, and Zhou Yuanji all quickly shouted for Li You to be careful.

At the same time, they were all shocked. Li You’s movement to flash in front of the boar had been far too fast.

It was as if he was a trained fighter.

’This guy is no joke!’

Li You paid no mind to their thoughts. He was currently thinking, ’How can I force this boar back?’

’As for the danger?’

’There’s no danger at all. With my current skills, forget one boar—even if all the boars here charged me at once, I could easily dodge them.’

The boar’s movements were fast. But in his eyes, they were slow.

’Should I just kick it and see if I can send it back?’

’Let’s do that.’

Having made his decision, the boar was already upon him.

Li You sent a flying kick into the boar’s face, then lightly leaped to the side.

The boar stopped and shook its head. It seemed a bit stunned by the kick.

Because the two-legged creature that had just kicked it was clearly not playing by the rules.

’Forget it, I’ll just go a different way.’

After being dazed for two seconds, the boar turned around and ran back into the cornfield.

Seeing him kick the boar back with a single blow, Lin Guodong, Zhang Zongfu, and Zhou Yuanji were all a bit dumbfounded.

’Could this Boss Li be a trained martial artist?’

Lin Guodong said, ”Xiaoyou, have you had special training? Those moves were incredible!”

Li You laughed. ”No. I just exercise regularly. I’m in good shape, so my reflexes are pretty fast. As chefs, if we don’t keep our bodies in shape, I’m afraid we wouldn’t even be able to toss a wok.”

So that was it.

Lin Guodong, Zhang Zongfu, and Zhou Yuanji all gave him a thumbs-up. ’Truly amazing!’

They continued driving away the wild boars.

After that, several more boars broke through their four-man encirclement, but Li You showed his skills again, kicking each one back in the same manner.

Finally, they managed to drive all the wild boars back into the mountain forest.

”Congratulations, Host. Random Quest ’The Crop-Destroying Wild Boars’ completed. Quest completion reward acquired: 1000 jin of pork intestines (Quality: Superior).”

Li You was ecstatic. ’Getting these 1000 jin of superior-quality pork intestines was pretty easy.’

’Coming with Lin Guodong to dig up that Japanese raisin tree was definitely the right call.’

Of course, even without triggering this random quest, the act of successfully driving the boars back into the forest was itself a reason to be happy.

Any success, no matter how small, is worth celebrating.

Li You was happy, and so were Lin Guodong, Zhang Zongfu, and Zhou Yuanji.

All in all, the operation had been very smooth.

The reason it went so smoothly was all thanks to Li You.

If Li You hadn’t been there to kick every boar that broke through the encirclement back into it, they would have spent much more time.

It might have even taken several more hours.

And in the end, they most likely would have had to call for more help.

Therefore, Li You deserved the most credit this time.

Zhang Zongfu smiled. ”It’s all thanks to Boss Li’s help this time. Otherwise, who knows how long it would’ve taken us to successfully drive those boars back.”

Zhou Yuanji also said, ”That’s right. I never thought Boss Li had skills like these. Amazing!”

Li You said, ”You two are too kind. Do wild boars come to your village often?”

Zhang Zongfu said, ”Not too often, really. This is the first time in nearly four months. But now that the corn is starting to ripen, I reckon the boars will start coming more frequently. We’ll need to take some precautions.”

Zhou Yuanji and Lin Guodong both nodded. They agreed with Zhang Zongfu; it was indeed necessary to take some precautions.

Li You certainly agreed. They had discovered the boars early this time, so there wasn’t much damage.

But if there was a next time, there was no telling what might happen.

So, Li You also nodded in agreement. ”It’s definitely a good idea to take precautions in advance.”

As for what kind of precautions to take, Zhang Zongfu, Lin Guodong, and Zhou Yuanji had their own experience, so Li You didn’t need to worry about it.

”By the way, Boss Li, what brings you here today?” Zhang Zongfu asked.

Li You smiled. ”I came to dig up a Japanese raisin tree.”

He then explained the situation.

Both Zhang Zongfu and Zhou Yuanji understood.

So that was it.

A Japanese raisin tree over three meters tall was indeed perfect for transplanting. It would be easy to dig up, the tree wouldn’t be too heavy, and one person could carry it.

”Old Lin, where is that tree?” Zhang Zongfu asked Lin Guodong.

Lin Guodong replied, ”It’s in the woods behind Stone Sheep Soil. I stumbled upon it yesterday.”

Zhang Zongfu nodded. ”You probably haven’t started digging yet, have you? Come on, I’ll go help too. It’ll be faster with an extra person.”

Zhou Yuanji also said, ”I’ll go too. With more people, we’ll have it out in no time.”

Li You said, ”Won’t this get in the way of your work?”

Both Zhang Zongfu and Zhou Yuanji said they weren’t busy at the moment, so it wouldn’t be a problem.

Li You said, ”Then thank you, Uncles.”

Since they were willing to help, Li You didn’t refuse. Refusing would have been awkward.

Zhang Zongfu said, ”You’re too kind, Boss Li. Let’s head over now. You guys go ahead, I’ll go back home to grab a hoe and catch up.”

Zhang Zongfu’s house was closer from here. So, since he offered to go get a hoe, Lin Guodong decided not to go back to his own house for one. He said, ”Alright then, we’ll go on ahead.”

Li You said, ”We’ll be troubling you then, Uncle Zhang.”

Zhang Zongfu waved his hand, indicating it was no trouble at all.

Afterward, Zhang Zongfu headed home. Li You, Lin Guodong, and Zhou Yuanji returned to where Li You and Lin Guodong had parked their motorcycles.

They would ride their motorcycles over.

Even if they couldn’t ride all the way to their destination, any distance they could cover was better than nothing.

Zhou Yuanji got on the back of Lin Guodong’s motorcycle.

The three of them set off.

Two minutes later, they stopped under a large tree.

This was as far as they could ride.

They got off the bikes.

Lin Guodong pointed to a patch of woods not far away and said, ”It’s in those woods. We’ll walk from here.”

Li You nodded. ”Okay.”

The three of them walked toward the woods. It was a path along an earthen ridge, but it was easy to walk on.

Soon, they arrived in the woods and saw the Japanese raisin tree.

It was over three meters tall, with a diameter of about 10 centimeters.

Its branches were lush with leaves, and it was covered in small white flowers.

At this time of year, the Japanese raisin tree was in its flowering season.

It was a very healthy and beautiful tree.

Li You circled the tree several times, liking it more and more the longer he looked.

Lin Guodong asked, ”Xiaoyou, what do you think?”

Li You said, ”It’s beautiful! Uncle Guodong, thank you so much!”

Lin Guodong laughed heartily. ”Xiaoyou, you’re being too formal.”

Li You also smiled. ”Regardless, I still have to thank you.”

He then continued to admire the Japanese raisin tree.

Li You was very happy that his wild fruit orchard would now have such a tree.

He would have Japanese raisins to eat in the future.

Japanese raisins not only had a good texture but were also highly nutritious. They contained many nutrients in high concentrations.

Their nutritional value far surpassed that of ordinary fruits.

They could not only be eaten raw but also used to make wine and sugar.

The sugar content in Japanese raisins was quite high.

The wine made from Japanese raisins not only tasted good but could also treat rheumatism.

The effect was quite good.

In addition, Japanese raisins could also be used medicinally as a form of Chinese medicine. They were suitable for treating symptoms like thirst from febrile diseases, extreme thirst, vomiting, and fever.

Also, Japanese raisins were very effective at counteracting the effects of alcohol.

If you got drunk, eating some Japanese raisins would have a very noticeable sobering effect.

So, although Japanese raisins were unassuming in appearance, their value was truly not low.

Li You was naturally quite pleased that such a tree was about to be planted in his wild fruit orchard.

Ten minutes later, Zhang Zongfu arrived.

He had brought a hoe, a machete, and some rope.

Li You would need the rope to tie the tree to his motorcycle.

Zhang Zongfu was very thoughtful.

Li You thanked him repeatedly.

Afterward, they first used the machete to clear away some obstructing branches from the surrounding trees.

Then, they officially started digging.

The soil was rather hard and difficult to dig. But it didn’t matter. With four people, they could take turns.

After a great deal of effort from the four of them, they finally uprooted the entire tree.

It was magnificent!

Next was to carry the tree to where the motorcycles were parked.

The tree wasn’t heavy; one person could easily lift it.

Furthermore, the path was a narrow earthen ridge. It was easier for one person to carry the tree than for two people to try and walk side-by-side.

So, they decided one person would carry it.

All four of them offered to carry it. But in the end, Li You convinced the other three to let him do it.

For him, carrying a tree like this was a piece of cake.

He carried the tree with Lin Guodong, Zhang Zongfu, and Zhou Yuanji to the spot where the motorcycles were parked.

Tying the tree to the motorcycle was relatively easy.

They laid the trunk along the length of the bike.

After some maneuvering, they had it tied down. It was very secure; there was no way it would come loose midway.

”Uncle Guodong, Uncle Zhang, Uncle Zhou, thank you all. I’ll be heading off now,” Li You said, bidding them farewell.

Zhang Zongfu said, ”You’re too kind, Boss Li. We should be the ones thanking you. If it weren’t for your help, we’d most likely still be dealing with those wild boars.”

Li You said, ”Since I happened to be here, it was only right to lend a hand.”

Then, amidst their goodbyes, Li You rode off on his motorcycle.

With such a large tree tied to the bike, it affected Li You’s handling somewhat.

But it wasn’t a big problem.

Time to head back to the restaurant.
