I Have a Countryside Gourmet Restaurant

Chapter 366: Chapter 335: 2 Even More Brilliant Players (Part 2)

”So,” Du Fei said, ”I just want to know how good Wang Ge Fei really is. See if I have a shot at winning the championship.”

The customer at the next table mused, ”That’s easy enough to find out. Just play a match against Wang Ge Fei and you’ll know.”

”Is Wang Ge Fei here right now?” Du Fei asked, his voice a mix of excitement and eagerness.

The customer at the next table said, ”I don’t see Wang Ge Fei around. But the runner-up, Lu Xiangyun, seems to be outside right now. Playing a match against him would be just as good. Lu Xiangyun isn’t much weaker than Wang Ge Fei. Wang Ge Fei didn’t have an easy time winning their final match.”

Du Fei was overjoyed. ”That’s fantastic!” he said. ”But would Lu Xiangyun be interested in playing a match with me?”

The customer at the next table said, ”Just go invite him and find out. He should be more than happy to. Come on, I’ll take you to him right now. Otherwise, he might be gone in a little while.”

The customer at the next table was very enthusiastic.

He was happy to facilitate, as this sort of thing was always entertaining. Besides, he was also curious to see for himself just how good this young man was at King of Fighters ’97.

Du Fei nodded eagerly. ”Okay, great. I’d appreciate it if you could make the introduction.”

”Don’t be so formal,” the customer said. ”Let’s go.”

”Okay, okay.”

The two of them stood up and headed outside together.

Lin Dequan, Liu Yu, Tang Ning, and the others hurried to follow.

They were excited too. They hadn’t expected something like this to happen; it was just too interesting.

Many of the surrounding customers also got up. They had all clearly heard the conversation between Du Fei and the man at the next table.

They certainly weren’t going to miss out on something this interesting.

A large crowd gathered outside the shop’s entrance.

Lu Xiangyun and the others in the arcade area all looked over, confused. They couldn’t understand why so many people were suddenly rushing outside.

The customer from the next table led Du Fei, Lin Dequan, and Tang Ning over to Lu Xiangyun. ”Xiangyun, my friend,” he said, ”there’s something I’d like to ask you.”

Du Fei, Lin Dequan, Tang Ning, and the others were all stunned.

’Isn’t this the man we were just asking questions to?’

’So this guy is Lu Xiangyun, the runner-up from the last King of Fighters ’97 tournament!’

’What a coincidence!’

Lu Xiangyun, of course, also remembered Du Fei, Lin Dequan, and Tang Ning. He glanced from the man who’d been at the next table to Du Fei’s group, and asked in confusion, ”What’s... going on here?”

The man from the next table now realized that Lu Xiangyun and Du Fei’s group seemed to know each other. He grew puzzled as well and asked, ”You know each other?”

Du Fei explained how they had asked Lu Xiangyun about the place when they first arrived, concluding with, ”I never would’ve guessed that you were Lu Xiangyun. What a coincidence.”

The man from the next table understood now and laughed. ”It really is a coincidence. Xiangyun, my friend, here’s the situation...”

He then explained why they had come looking for Lu Xiangyun.

Lu Xiangyun was a little surprised, but very interested. ”So you guys like King of Fighters ’97 too,” he said. ”Alright then, let’s have a match.”

It was the kind of thing Lu Xiangyun would never refuse.

Seeing Lu Xiangyun agree, Du Fei was pumped up. ”It’s an honor to play against you,” he said.

”The honor is all mine,” Lu Xiangyun replied.

The duel between the two was about to begin.

Lin Dequan, Liu Yu, Tang Ning, and the others were just as pumped, all cheering for Du Fei.

Meanwhile, the man from the next table and all the other customers were in high spirits. They hadn’t expected to see a match like this today; it was incredibly entertaining.

They cheered for both players.

Two customers who were playing at one of the machines stood up at the same time and said to Lu Xiangyun and Du Fei, ”Here, you guys can have our spot.”

After thanking them, Lu Xiangyun and Du Fei walked over to the arcade cabinet and sat down.

Lu Xiangyun took the Player 1 side, and Du Fei took Player 2.

They began selecting their characters.

Just then, Li You also joined the crowd. He had heard the commotion from the kitchen and came out to see what was happening.

He was quite interested in this. It was definitely the kind of event he had to come and watch.

What surprised him, however, was that the person challenging Lu Xiangyun was one of the customers he had met in the gorge that morning.

’So those customers really did come for lunch.’ Li You was very happy about this.

’I didn’t expect one of them to be a King of Fighters ’97 expert. This is getting interesting.’

At that moment, Lu Xiangyun and Du Fei finished their character selections, and the match officially began.

With the exception of Lin Dequan, Tang Ning, and their friends, everyone present, including Li You, was already quite familiar with Lu Xiangyun’s skill.

Therefore, they were mainly focused on watching Du Fei’s technique at the start.

And Du Fei’s technique was excellent; he and Lu Xiangyun went back and forth, trading blows.

The skill levels of the two players seemed to be on par with each other.

This delighted everyone. An even match was a spectacular one, making it much more thrilling to watch.

No wonder this young man named Du Fei dared to step up, even knowing that Lu Xiangyun was the runner-up of the last tournament. He clearly had real skill.

After a series of spectacular exchanges, Lu Xiangyun managed a narrow victory.

Lu Xiangyun was secretly astonished. ’I can’t believe he’s this strong. His skill is every bit as good as mine.’

’There really are a lot of King of Fighters ’97 masters out there.’

Du Fei was also surprised by his opponent’s strength. ’Looks like the champion, Wang Ge Fei, must be slightly better than me.’

’Does Wenxian Town really have this many King of Fighters ’97 experts? It’s not going to be easy for me to win the championship in the next tournament.’

’But maybe that just makes it more interesting.’

Afterward, Du Fei said to Lu Xiangyun, ”I lost. You’re stronger than me.”
