My Alleged Husband

Chapter 41: Chapter 41 Zhang Zhentian Learns of Xia Jing’s Return to the Country_1

Li Jiayuan left not long after Xia Jing, and as she was leaving, she didn’t forget to turn back and smile at Zhang Zhentian. She slowly walked up to him and said, ”Zhentian, don’t worry. There’s no need to miss me too much, I will come looking for you, you just wait for me!”

Li Jiayuan even blew a kiss to Zhang Zhentian, who felt so disgusted he nearly threw up. He said to her without any politeness, ”Who would miss you? If you’re going, then just hurry up and go. Don’t stay here and be a pain in my eyes.”

Li Jiayuan kept looking back every three steps at Zhang Zhentian. Once Zhang Zhentian saw that Li Jiayuan had left through the main gate, he dashed over and swiftly shut the door.

Zhang Zhentian turned around and asked Old Master Zhang, ”Dad, why were you giving me those winks and gestures? Are you afraid I’ll say something unpleasant, or what? Do you realize that if Xia Jing finds out about what happened today, she’ll be even less willing to come back? How can you act like this? Tell me the truth, did you call that woman here because you saw Xia Jing didn’t come back with me, and you once again wanted me to be with that woman...”

Zhang Zhentian rambled on non-stop, leaving Old Master Zhang feeling dizzy. He yelled at Zhang Zhentian, ”Have you said enough? You just keep going on and on, and it’s given me a headache. Who told you it was me who invited Li Jiayuan to the house? And who told you I want you to be with Li Jiayuan again? Also, Zhang Zhentian, is there something wrong with your eyes or your brain? Who gave you the authority to speak to Li Jiayuan like that?”

Zhang Zhentian was taken aback, not having time to process his father’s reaction, and subconsciously said to Old Master Zhang, ”Dad, how can you have the nerve to say that? Clearly, it was your fear of me saying something offensive to Li Jiayuan that made you give me those signals. Wasn’t my response exactly what you wanted? How can you turn around and blame me now?”

Old Master Zhang really wished he hadn’t fathered such a foolish son; it was like there was no hope for his intelligence.

”Zhang Zhentian, Zhang Zhentian, are you an idiot? My intention was for you to send Li Jiayuan away. But instead, you even told Li Jiayuan that you don’t mind her coming to our house. To tell you the truth, if you don’t mind, I certainly do,” Elder Zhang turned his head away, not wanting to look at Zhang Zhentian. Only then did Zhang Zhentian realize that he had misunderstood his father’s intent.

”Zhang Zhentian, let me tell you, since Zhang Mo has acknowledged Xia Jing as his daughter-in-law, he will never go back on his word. You remember that, and don’t go doing something wrong later and say it was my idea!” Old Master Zhang warned Zhang Zhentian with a stern look that shook him.

After leaving the entrance of Zhang Zhentian’s house, Xia Jing went straight to the lakeside where she shouted into the green waters, ”Why, why do you have to treat me this way? After all the things you have done, I forgave you, how can you do this to me?”

Xia Jing’s shouting gradually grew weaker, and she slowly squatted down and leaned on the railing, crying with her head down. Then, a person appeared in front of her—Li Jiayuan.

After leaving, Li Jiayuan had been following Xia Jing. Seeing Xia Jing come here, she directly followed.

When Xia Jing saw clearly that the person before her was Li Jiayuan, she yelled, ”Li Jiayuan, does it amuse you to act like this? Do you find it fun to seduce other people’s men? You, the proud daughter of Li Haixiao, choose to be a seductress. I know the trap you set with the words Zhentian said in his house today.”

Li Jiayuan, feeling increasingly offended by Xia Jing’s harsh words, couldn’t help but retort, ”Xia Jing, do you think you’re so great? If you were really that great, why would you run away in panic after hearing what Zhang Zhentian said? Xia Jing, do you truly believe Zhentian’s words today weren’t sincere? I bet you believe everything he said was heartfelt, right? Otherwise, why wouldn’t you have the courage to go into the Zhang family’s house and confront Zhentian?”

Li Jiayuan folded her arms and watched Xia Jing with mockery. Xia Jing knew in her heart that her fear was the reason she didn’t confront Zhang Zhentian. All of this was hit upon by Li Jiayuan, and Xia Jing replied, ”Miss Li Jiayuan, may I ask if it delights you to ruin other people’s relationships? Today I realized you’re not suited to be a lady of wealth; you’re only fit to be a mistress.”

Xia Jing, after speaking to Li Jiayuan, pulled out her phone and opened her moments. Li Jiayuan saw everything that had happened to her at the airport on Xia Jing’s phone, especially the way the middle-aged man had maligned her, which inflamed her with anger. She charged over to snatch Xia Jing’s phone, but Xia Jing pushed her away with a single movement.

”Miss Li, please conduct yourself with dignity.”

After saying this, Xia Jing walked away without looking back. Li Jiayuan regained her composure and texted Zhang Zhentian: ”Zhentian, let’s meet up.”

Zhang Zhentian, seeing a message from the persistently bothersome Li Jiayuan, was in a terrible mood. Without a second thought, he replied to Li Jiayuan: ”I’m sorry, but there’s nothing left for us to talk about, so there’s no need for us to meet.”

Li Jiayuan knew this would be his response. With no other choice, she resorted to using Xia Jing to lure Zhang Zhentian out: ”Zhentian, I saw Xia Jing by the lake, don’t you want to come see her?”

As soon as Zhang Zhentian heard that Xia Jing had returned, how could he still worry about whether Li Jiayuan was deceiving him? Just the mention of Xia Jing made him lose his rationality. He hurriedly rushed over and when he arrived at the lakeside, he didn’t see Xia Jing, just Li Jiayuan standing there. His initial happiness vanished in an instant. He walked over to Li Jiayuan and asked, ”Where is she?”

”You really came! She already left.”

”Do you know when Xia Jing came back?” Zhang Zhentian asked Li Jiayuan.

”How would I know when she came back? Zhentian, do you want to know why I left your house so quickly today?”

Li Jiayuan placed her hand on Zhang Zhentian’s shoulder, but he pulled her hand away and asked expressionlessly, ”How should I know what you’re thinking!”

”Well, shall I tell you then?” Li Jiayuan winked at Zhang Zhentian, who, speechless, patted his own head.

”It’s because I saw Xia Jing standing at your house’s front gate. Moreover, she heard what you said to me. I saw her leave and followed her all the way here. I even saw her hiding here, crying...” With every additional detail Li Jiayuan revealed, Zhang Zhentian’s shock deepened.

Seeing Zhang Zhentian’s expression, Li Jiayuan felt very satisfied. She wanted to deepen the misunderstanding between Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian.

After hearing all this from Li Jiayuan, Zhang Zhentian was stunned. He thought to himself, ”If what Li Jiayuan is saying is true, then the items at the door were indeed bought by Xia Jing, and she really heard what I said. What should I do now?”

Snapping back to reality, Zhang Zhentian shoved Li Jiayuan aside and rushed toward Xia Jing’s previous residence. Li Jiayuan’s joy grew even more. She had originally wanted to hear news about Xiao Wei, but seeing Xia Jing, she couldn’t resist the urge to get revenge on her. Knowing that Xia Jing had returned to the country, Zhang Zhentian immediately called his father, Old Master Zhang, to tell him that Xia Jing was back and had overheard what he said today, all while he was still running frantically towards her.
