Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 596: Chapter 368: Testing the Waters

Marry a virtuous wife, in this aspect, Liu Yajing could not be more satisfied with her little sister Xiaoxue.

Gentle yet strong-willed;

She can handle both the living room and the kitchen, and in the past two years has become more and more graceful, never shrinking at any flower banquets.

Her embroidery skills might not be unmatched, but she’s gained some fame in Cheng County—though it seems only her third brother and Xiaoxue’s brother know of this, nobody else from the Jiang family seems aware.

This shows Xiaoxue is low-key, poised, and doesn’t like to flaunt.

Honestly, Liu Yajing sometimes wonders, just how much private money has Xiaoxue saved up over these years?

As for looks, it’s not even up for debate; she perfectly complements her third brother, one is gentle and elegant, the other refined and poised.

The alliance between the two families considers not only the two children themselves but also the family backgrounds and relations behind them.

No need to say much on this, the Jiang and Liu families have been interacting for many years, grandpa and third brother have lived with the Jiang family for such a long time, understanding one another.

As for today, Liu Ze asked his second sister to help inquire about Xiaoxue’s opinion.

Even though ”the parents’ orders and the matchmakers’ words” are perfectly acceptable, in general, both sets of parents would seek their children’s opinions.

Though Liu Ze has always been confident, thinking surely he could be with Xiaoxue.

But when truly faced with the moment, he couldn’t help but feel uneasy, thus asked his second sister to take the chance today, to find out Xiaoxue’s thoughts.

Now, as he expectedly looked at his second sister, hoping to hear an answer that would make him happy, he saw his sister’s smile fade considerably, and she even sighed lightly.

Liu Ze’s heart sank instantly, his whole demeanor became stern, nervously looking at his second sister: ”Second sister, what is this...”

Liu Yajing shook her head slightly.

Liu Ze’s heart sank further, he had never imagined, if Xiaoxue had no intentions toward him...

Seeing her brother almost about to cry, Liu Yajing knew she had gone too far with the joke and quickly spoke.

”Oh, don’t be anxious, I haven’t said anything yet.”

Liu Ze froze for a moment, then burst with joy: ”Second sister, you’re teasing me!”

Knowing his second sister was tricking him, Liu Ze couldn’t even be upset, joy flooded his heart rapidly and filled his whole body.

A wide grin spread across his face, which, for him, was quite rare, if not unprecedented.

In the next instant, he was splashed with a bucket of cold water by Liu Yajing: ”I didn’t say that.”

His smile froze on his face immediately, not knowing whether to cry or laugh.

Wang Xinghe couldn’t take it anymore, nudged his fiancée with his elbow: ”Jing’er, don’t tease little Ze anymore, you know he’s not in good health, what if you frighten him into something.”

Liu Yajing gave him a glare immediately, dissatisfied: ”Ze’er is healthy!”

Wang Xinghe also acknowledged his slip of the tongue, nodded repeatedly: ”Right, right, little Ze is very healthy, he won’t have any issues.”

After all, this little brother-in-law indeed had poor health before, though he’s better now, this topic while not taboo in the Liu family, is not liked being talked about.

Luckily, Liu Yajing knew her fiancé was unintentionally, and out of concern for her brother, so she wasn’t truly annoyed.

”I won’t keep you hanging anymore, just now while taking Xiaomi and Xiaoxue to play, I did probe Xiaoxue’s thoughts.”

Earlier, the third brother wrote back saying he wished to discuss the marriage proposal between the Liu family.

Though arranging a marriage isn’t that simple, you can’t just find any matchmaker to initiate the proposal.

The relationship between the two families is considerable, if the children were uninterested, the elders might agree due to the family ties, and then the two children would have a tough life.

Thus, before formally proposing, one would probe both parties’ opinions first, and since she was the same generation as Xiaoxue, she handled Xiaoxue’s side.

Seeing the usually calm third brother, now eagerly looking at her, wanting to know Xiaoxue’s true thoughts, Liu Yajing felt both gratified and distressed.

Gratified because her brother grew up, the once boy who was willing to go back home to recuperate rather than upset his parents, has now begun to care about his marriage.

Distressed, naturally, because her brother is so invested in another girl, feels like he’s about to move away, an unpleasant feeling.

But after all, it’s still a good thing.

Hence Liu Yajing pondered momentarily, then became earnest.

”About Xiaoxue, I’ve subtly questioned, but it seems, she hasn’t opened up in this aspect, not a single thought.”

”However, though Xiaoxue might not have opened up, Xiaomi is smart, from what she said, there’s absolutely no one beside Xiaoxue, she also seems particularly attentive to you.”

Think about it, Liu Yajing nodded affirmatively: ”Indeed, Xiaomi said so, aside from Xiaoyu and Xiaowei not mentioned, between you and Ziang, Xiaoxue is best to you.”

Liu Ze quickly interjected: ”Of course, Wei Ziang likes Xiaomi, to Xiaoxue he behaves as a brother.”

Liu Yajing rolled her eyes right away: ”Then why are you so uneasy, insisting on asking my thoughts on Xiaoxue.” ℯℯ𝑙.

Liu Ze chuckled awkwardly, momentarily not knowing how to respond.

Yet beside him, Wang Xinghe shook his head: ”When you’re in the middle of it, you can’t see clearly. Especially since Xiaoxue’s not opened up, although she’s close with little Ze in daily life, she hasn’t expressed any feelings, little Ze worrying is normal.”

Liu Ze nodded repeatedly, certainly, having confidence was one thing, Xiaoxue’s lack of response was also a fact, how could he not worry.

Liu Yajing was dazed for a moment, then suddenly snickered: ”Aren’t you two forgetting, how old is Xiaoxue? At most, she’s not even twelve yet, what kind of expression are you expecting from her?”

This...

Liu Ze and Wang Xinghe looked at each other, second sister/Jing’er’s words seemed to make sense.

Wang Xinghe fake-coughed a few times, changing the topic: ”Jing’er’s right, when we got engaged, we were just like kids, knew nothing back then.”

At that time, his heart did bloom early, when engaged, he already had a fondness for Jing’er, disliked her talking with other young lads.

But back then, Jing’er truly knew nothing, even about them being engaged, she only thought they could always play together, seemed great.

Liu Ze wasn’t embarrassed, instead nodded as matter-of-factly: ”Since that’s the case, we should get engaged sooner, if not for your early engagement, who knows, my sister might have ended up with someone else.”

”Impossible, even if a couple of years later your sister wouldn’t have liked anyone else!”

Fuming, Wang Xinghe wished he could punch him twice.

If this fellow wasn’t his delicate little brother-in-law.
