Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 564: Chapter 342: Aftermath (Part 2)

Seeing that she didn’t seem too sad, mostly just a bit wistful, it was clear that after settling the children, Yang and Zhang weren’t bothered by anything else, which was reassuring.

I also asked about the Longevity Store and found out everything about it was fake, and the so-called IOU was just casually written to deceive the illiterate Yang family.

With that, the Second Aunt was relieved too. She just patted her shoulder, telling her to work well, as her daughter was now by her side and her son settled, she only needed to take care of herself.

The only thing to note might be the matter of the two sons, it was important to avoid letting others find out.

If others knew where Yang Zhang’s two sons were, it could be passed on to the Yang family, and they would likely come to take the two children back.

Yang Zhang was aware of this too, and she would try to minimize the number of times she visited the children and avoid others when she did go.

Thus, the plight of Yang Zhang and her children was temporarily resolved.

On the first night Da Ni stayed at the Jiang family, she was given a prettier name by Xiao Xue—Yang Yingchun.

Because, after all, the forsythia flowers were about to bloom.

And it just so happened that there was one in their courtyard. While the forsythia outside were just budding, a few had already quietly bloomed in the Jiang family’s courtyard.

It was on that afternoon when Da Ni arrived at the Jiang family, discovered by Xiao Xue, hence the name.

Da Ni, oh no, Yang Yingchun and Yang Zhang were both very happy because she finally had a name of her own!

Yingchun was indeed like Yang Zhang said, diligent and capable, able to do even the dirtiest and most strenuous work quite well.

When Qixi also built a house in the village and moved out with his mother, Yingchun took over all the chores at home.

From cleaning the courtyard to washing clothes and cooking, it seemed there was nothing she couldn’t do.

Of course, even if her cooking was a bit off at first, it gradually became much better later on.

Besides that, she always helped her mother with the pigpen tasks, and when Xiao Xue was home resting, she would occasionally teach her some simple characters.

Overall, in the eyes of others, Yingchun was capable and virtuous.

To herself, though busy, she didn’t feel it was hard, as she could eat well, sleep well, and even learn to read; it was vastly better than before.

It’s worth mentioning that long after this, Yang Cheng even came to Xiangmu Village looking for Yang Zhang, seemingly intending to bring her back.

But already fed up with his ’honest’ facade, Yang Zhang, oh no, after being divorced, she reverted to using her maiden name, Zhang Chunhua.

Zhang Chunhua, not letting Yang Cheng come close to the Jiang family, directly took a hoe and chased him out of Xiangmu Village.

Having experienced before, she now understood the softer she was, the more others would bully her.

On the contrary, after she once scared Yang Cheng with a kitchen knife, even if people gossiped about her like a shrew behind her back, at least they were polite to her face and didn’t dare cause trouble.

This was a good thing for Yang Chunhua, as it allowed her to protect herself and her daughter.

Truth be told, when her daughter was first sold to the Jiang family, she was dark, thin, and like a twig, not resembling a twelve-year-old girl at all.

Now, over the past half a year, she was looking better with each passing day.

Though still hardworking, she gained some weight and lightened up, finally resembling the elegant form of a young girl.

Not only Yang Yingchun, but Zhang Chunhua also experienced this. The mother and daughter, ever since they started working at the Jiang family, were truly becoming more beautiful and younger.

Some even said that the Jiang family nurtured people well; no matter how unattractive someone was initially, they would become prettier at the Jiang family!

However, there was a reason Zhang Chunhua and Yang Yingchun became prettier.

Yang Yingchun was twelve years old, and even if Zhang Chunhua married at fifteen and had a child two years later, Zhang Chunhua would only be in her early thirties.

Previously, at her ex-husband’s house, she was underfed, underdressed, worked tirelessly, constantly bullied, and her husband was unreliable.

Both externally and internally exhausted, she looked at least ten years older than her actual age.

As for Yang Yingchun, even more so, being in a similar situation as her mother, a girl of twelve or thirteen, looking shorter than a ten-year-old, living in a cowshed and eating leftovers, wouldn’t appear pretty, even if she were a celestial being.

At the Jiang family, although the mother and daughter worked, it was simply work, not exploitation.

They could eat their fill and not worry about hunger, even having meat twice a month.

Most importantly, as long as there wasn’t waste, the vegetables from the fields, watered with Spiritual Spring, could be eaten freely.

Even if consumed in small amounts, consistently over time, they improved their physical health and remedied some hidden ailments.

With this support, the mother and daughter merely restored their original appearance.

One could only say their past was too harsh, making the change so striking to others.

”Chunhua, off to take meat to your son again, huh? You’ve kept that son of yours well hidden; it’s nearing a year, and still, he hasn’t been brought back.”

Zhang Chunhua, carrying a lunchbox back to the village, was teased by an aunt who saw her.

She and her daughter received meat twice a month and always ate half, then prepared the remaining half to take to the two sons.

Second Aunt and the others were aware but, considering Zhang Chunhua didn’t neglect work and was diligent, they didn’t say much, other than cautioning her to be careful.

Zhang Chunhua just smiled, saying, ”I can’t let that family know, otherwise these children would have no good days.”

The aunt, knowing this too, didn’t press further after mentioning.

”By the way, didn’t Second Aunt and the others go to the prefecture again? I heard the two kids are trying for the scholar exam again this year.”

Yang Chunhua nodded, ”The employer left three days ago. The journey is long, so they decided to spend New Year’s at Nanyang Prefecture rather than waste time on the road.”

The aunt envied, ”The Jiang’s children are all clever, and I heard they are sure to pass the scholar exam this year too. With Liu Bo and the steward at home, there’s truly nothing to worry about.”

Yang Chunhua didn’t want to discuss too much about the employer’s matters, considering she still lived in the employer’s courtyard and could see some things.

”I should head back now, it’s been a while, I wonder if Yingchun has finished feeding the pigs.”

”You rest assured, your Yingchun is just as capable as you and surely won’t delay anything!”
