Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 575: Chapter 348: Buying Goats

Since they planned to spend the New Year in Nanyang Prefecture before returning home, there have been quite a few shopping trips recently.

Without household chores and unable to help with the children’s studies, the couple has been quite leisurely lately, preparing meals daily and wandering around.

The last time they were in Nanyang Prefecture, it was unbearably hot, to the extent that they didn’t want to go out at all, spending their days in a room with ice blocks.

This winter, although it’s cold, walking and strolling on the street quickly warms one up, the only pity being that the kids’ exams have become even harder.

But the ancients did say, ”Bitter hardships lead to great success.”

So while feeling sorry, the couple also didn’t interfere, just stocking up on charcoal to keep the kids warm while reading and writing.

After breakfast, Jiang Hu and his wife hurriedly took Xiao Mi out; she originally found it strange, wondering why her parents were so eager.

After wandering outside for half a day, upon returning to make lunch, Erjie said that this morning, three matchmakers came to the house!

Xiao Mi understood; no wonder her parents ran off so quickly. With just a few kids at home, it’s pointless for matchmakers to come.

But if the couple were at home, they’d have to entertain them, which means a round of talking.

Remembering yesterday’s matchmaker, Ms. Wang, Xiao Mi felt embarrassed. Fortunately, her parents ran quickly; as a matchmaker, there is no such thing as a poor speaker!

For the next few days, Jiang Hu and his wife continued to go out early and return late, taking Xiao Mi around Nanyang Prefecture.

To be honest, Xiao Mi did find some nice places and spotted several things, just waiting for the chance to buy them herself one day.

For four or five days straight, those matchmakers missed every time, finally giving up. Jiang Hu and his wife were finally able to rest at home.

Though wandering was fun, being ’forced’ to go out daily was exhausting.

This was Xiao Mi’s opportunity. After tidying up, she said as usual, ”Mom, I’ll go out for a walk.”

”Be careful, don’t get lost; Nanyang Prefecture is much bigger than Cheng County. Be careful not to find your way back.”

”Mom, don’t worry, I’ve been following and learning the routes for a while now. I’ll be back soon.”

With that, she was about to dash out.

”Xiao Mi, do you need me to go with you?” Wei Ziang suddenly emerged from the room where he was reading.

Xiao Mi quickly waved him off, ”No, no, brother, you stay and relax at home. I can go by myself.”

Saying so, as if afraid Wei Ziang would follow, she sprinted off.

Wei Ziang frowned slightly, but then seemed to think of something and relaxed, smiling as he turned to go back to reading.

Jiang Hu’s wife muttered, ”What’s up with that child today, seeming as if she’s scared to go out with someone?”

”Aunty, Xiao Mi just can’t sit still, likes to roam around. She’s curious about Nanyang Prefecture now and surely can’t stay at home.”

Wei Ziang explained for Xiao Mi’s sake.

Jiang Hu’s wife thought so too; Xiao Mi has never been the staying-put type since she was a child.

She then turned to Wei Ziang: ”Ziang, don’t always be buried in books, don’t become a bookworm. You’re still young. We can take the exams again in a few years.”

She thought Wei Ziang was buried in books because he was anxious about not passing the last courtyard exam.

Wei Ziang laughed, ”Aunty, don’t worry, I know.”

But even after saying this, he turned and went back inside.

Jiang Hu’s wife didn’t know what else to say, so she just shook her head and went to tend to the goats. The day after tomorrow was the ninth birthday of Xiao Mi and Xiao Wei, and she needed to prepare properly.

Meanwhile, once Xiao Mi ran far enough, she glanced back, ensured no one was following, and finally felt relieved.

She was about to do something important today and couldn’t be followed.

Ever since last time Ling’er said she felt the space was about to upgrade.

But days had passed with no sign of it yet.

Last night, she asked Ling’er again, who said maybe the space was still missing something.

Like, adding a new species.

Not a plant, but preferably an animal.

According to Ling’er, it’s just a small push away, needing a little stimulus for the space to upgrade!

So Xiao Mi was anxious, wishing to immediately buy a new species.

These days, it looked like she was leisurely wandering with her parents, but she had gathered ample information. As soon as she left, she headed straight for the city gate.

Out of the city, pinpointing the direction, she directly headed for a nearby village.

According to her sources, a household in the village specialized in raising goats, and they were domesticated goats.

Rumor has it there are over a hundred heads, definitely a big farm!

Although the village is a bit far, once out of sight, she used Spiritual Energy to quicken her pace.

Thanks to previous preparations for catching wild goats, she could now use Spiritual Energy to control her legs’ speed, and even her hands and eyes had learned to harness it.

This Spiritual Energy, truly versatile and useful.

Lost in thought, she soon saw a small village ahead, and upon closer observation, she could see a group of brownish specks moving on a hillside.

Those must be the goats.

Once closer, Xiao Mi withdrew her Spiritual Energy and jogged in with her natural speed, quickly reaching the village.

”Child, whose kid are you, running here?” An old uncle by the roadside called out to Xiao Mi.

This was a village where everyone knew each other’s families, so Xiao Mi clearly wasn’t from there.

”Grandpa, I’m here to buy goats. I heard your village has many, and I want to buy a few.” She said, pointing to the nearby hillside, where the animals were visible up close.

The old uncle looked at her skeptically, ”You, a little child, want to buy goats?”

Xiao Mi tilted her chin, looking proudly at the old uncle, ”Grandpa, don’t underestimate me. I have money. I know these goats are expensive, and I brought money specifically.”

She said, patting her money bag by her waist heavily.

It was the same bag her father and brother brought back for her after selling their catch.

Though the large silver ingot and silver note were kept in space, the bag held a fair amount of broken silver, making a tempting jingling sound.

The old uncle didn’t think too much of it, just chuckling, ”I hear you, got money, but girl, if you buy them, you’ll have to take them home yourself. I won’t deliver.”

Xiao Mi was surprised, ”Grandpa, are those goats yours?”

The old uncle tossed away the hay in his hand, ”Yes, girl, what’s your name, coming alone to buy? Where are your family? Aren’t they worried about you getting scammed?”

Xiao Mi hadn’t expected to meet the owner right away.

Hearing these questions, she replied cheerfully, ”I’m Xiao Mi. I can tell grandpa won’t deceive me. My parents don’t know; I wanted to secretly buy them.”

The old uncle shook his head with a smile, ”You’re a sweet-talker, Xiao Mi. Come with me then, I’ll take you to see the goats.”
