The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 256: Chapter 256- Inquisitor Of The Sacred Truth

While she was not present there, she had heard it from Bob and the other holy knights what transpired. How peculiarly he behaved when the Seventh Heavenly King whispered something into his ears.

It was also what led to him dropping his guard, causing his own ally to put a curse on him and ultimately leading to defeat against the Seventh Heavenly King.

What’s more, that was the incident that caused them their biggest loss, the death of the vice commander of the Temple of Light. All because of a few words spoken by the demon.

This time too, he lost his bearings after muttering something about the woman being alive and knowing about ’them’.

”I’m fine now,” Reinhardt spoke with a deep voice. After that, he gave Karina a mission.

”There are a few people in the city that I want you to capture. They will be immense help to resolve the plot, the people of Rune are planning”.

”Yes, master” Karina, after seeing that her master was back to his usual divine and confident self, left to carry out her mission.

.

The sun slowly set, and night arrived. The convoy found a place to rest their exhausted horses and set up camps. Around a big campfire, knights sat gatehred around and ate their meals. Among them was Reinhardt and his squad.

”Where is Gwen?” Kevin questioned, seeing that Gwen was not with them.

”She is with her father and her master. They are not in the mood to have dinner,” Delicia answered. Well, the trial tomorrow was going to decide their fates, so it was understandable that they had no mood to eat.

At this moment, as they were having their dinner, the commander of the Emerald Knights approached them.

”Ahem, can I speak with you alone for a minute, Sir Reinhardt?”

The latter nodded his head and got up from his seat to have a chat with the Emerald knight. After the two commanders left, the squad excitedly argued about what the topic of their discussion could be.

”I’m telling you, it’s about the trial that is going to be held tomorrow. Maybe they are discussing a way to break into the senate or stop it from happening”.

”Oh please, it’s Commander we are talking about. He won’t do something as tactless as breaking into the Senate.”

Vangeance’s stupid reply was responded by an equally sharp retort.

”What? Are you saying that the boss doesn’t care about Gwen? As the man I admire the most, there is no way he would leave a helpless girl to her fate”.

”I’m saying no such thing. I’m sure he is planning to do something. However, it has nothing to do with breaking into the senate; it would just complicate things more”.

”Ah, the creature that the commander summoned that day, I have decided to give it the name of Super Big Ultra Sea Dragon.”

Suddenly, there was a forceful change in topic by a boisterous young man, and before she knew it, they started discussing the skill that the commander used and giving the creature a name.

Silvia sighed. Why does she even bother? The boys have been discussing the event of that day for the past few days without getting tired. Even now, when they were discussing something important, it was back to that topic again.

”Haha, you have a lot on your plate”. Delicia laughed, pitying her plight.

”That’s what happens when you make idiot friends. However, now that you have also joined this circle, the headache is yours to bear too”.

The former knight nodded laughingly.

.

In one corner of the camp, Jerrel brought Reinhardt to a rather secluded area where nobody could hear them before opening with a question.

”Sir Reinhardt, I have thought over what you said to me yesterday”.

”Oh? So what have you decided?”

Jerrel shook his head strongly. ”I have come to realise that it’s not possible. The people of my country won’t harm me, especially my king”.

”I see.”

A few days ago, Reinhardt informed him that the incident that occurred back in the sea, where the sailors abandoned them after charting a course towards the Devil’s triangle a plot to kill him.

Furthermore, the one trying to get rid of him was none other than the king of Rune. Unlike other countries, the Kingdom of Rune does not have a standard monarchy system. To survive the demons to this day, they came up with their own unique governing system and followed the rule of Strength is King.

They seemed to have loved this rule so much that they applied it to their governing system. That’s right, the ruler of the kingdom of Rune does not come from a royal bloodline but instead is chosen from amongst the strongest knights.

It was also for this reason that Jarrel and even the current king were elected. It was because they were the strongest of their generation.

Now that the current 28th king was slowly getting weaker due to old age, the current strongest knight, that is to say, Jerrel was naturally the crowd’s favourite to become the next king of Rune.

An official ceremony had already been conducted, and Jerrel was bestowed with the royal surname of Rune. If nothing unexpected happens, the Emerald Knight will become the king in a few years.

Yes, that’s right, if nothing unexpected happens. Reinahrdt grinned, feeling his shadow drawing near.

At that instant, Jerrel was also alerted; however, he was soon eased when he saw the Divine Paladin telling him to stand down.

Karina materialised out of the shadow, draggin behind what seemed like two knights with their veins bulging through their faces. Clearly, they were poisoned, and with a powerful one at that too.

However, as the opponents were high level knights, if she did not use such means, she would not be able to subdue them without a fight.

”Good work.”

As usual, this woman was terrifying in what she did. Well, given that she managed to even keep up with the previous Reinhardt when they were enemies, it showed how skilled she was.
