Chapter 475: Chapter 529 A Huge Chicken

Barbaric Beasts emerged, the dust flew into the air, and the earth trembled.

A massive shockwave, reminiscent of a nuclear bomb explosion, surged from beneath the surface, flinging Chen Nan and Su Qingqing dozens of meters away. Luckily, at the crucial moment, Chen Nan held onto Su Qingqing, letting himself hit the ground first, cushioning her fall.

Otherwise, the girl, who knew nothing about martial arts, would have surely been seriously injured from the fall.

”Oo-oo-oo...”

The enormous crowing sounded like thunder, deafening to the ears.

As dirt and rocks were hurled through the sky, Chen Nan didn’t even have time to get up before he heard a ”boom”—a gargantuan creature broke through the ground and soared into the sky.

Upon closer inspection, it was actually a chicken.

This was a very strange giant rooster, as big as a house, with its two chicken eyes as large as steamer baskets, shining with a black light.

Chen Nan and Su Qingqing were completely dumbfounded.

The books say the largest bird in the world is the ostrich, right?

But the rooster in front of them, with a body black as ink and feathers as shiny as black satin, was as big as a house, its wings, when spread, spanned twenty meters wide—how could any ostrich compare to such a behemoth?

The rooster crowed towards the sky and flapped its huge wings, spiraling joyfully in the air.

Chen Nan and Su Qingqing stood there, staring in stupid amazement, unable to snap out of it for a long time. A chicken could grow this big, was it some kind of hybrid?

The already enormous chicken was frightening enough, but after a bout of crowing, it astonishingly began to speak human language, ”Oo-oo-oo, I, the great rooster, have finally seen the light of day again, beautiful fairy sisters, I, the number one handsome chicken in the world, have returned.”

”Is... is this a chicken?”

Su Qingqing stood up and looked at Chen Nan, puzzled.

”It should be, it seems like it, probably?”

Chen Nan wasn’t sure himself—he had never seen nor heard of a chicken so large in his life before.

”Hey, you two little things, spying on me from below, you’re envious of my good looks, aren’t you?” the Black Feathered Chicken shouted, then dove down from the sky and with a stomp of its massive claws, nearly cracked the ground apart.

Chen Nan was completely speechless.

It was one thing for a chicken to grow so large, but for it to be so narcissistic as well.

Chen Nan eyed the giant rooster before him, its body covered in black feathers. The creature held its massive head high with a narcissistic air, and although its size was indeed impressive, it had nothing to do with being handsome.

Although Chen Nan knew it wasn’t the chicken’s fault for being ugly—its mother was to blame for laying a bad egg—being ugly and not knowing it, and on top of that being narcissistic, was its own fault.

”What’s with that look, kid? Dare to stare at Grandpa Rooster—believe it or not, I’ll peck you to death with one bite!”

The rooster waved its wings, pointing at Chen Nan and squawking arrogantly.

Chen Nan didn’t feel afraid in the slightest. Despite the chicken’s strength, it just appeared dumb to him.

”Oh great rooster, you are indeed the world’s number one handsome chicken. If there’s nothing else, we’ll be on our way now, goodbye!” Chen Nan flattered against his better judgment and then pulled Su Qingqing along to leave.

The rooster crowed with pride, but then its head swung and it noticed eight Spirit Stones that had fallen to the ground.

”Damn it, who’s the blind one that drained these Spirit Stones dry? I was counting on these few stones to restore my power!”

The rooster flapped its wings, the feathers on its face standing on end, as it chased down and caught Chen Nan with one of its gigantic claws, roaring, ”Little thing, did you drain these Spirit Stones?”

Clutched by the chicken’s claw, Chen Nan felt like his body was about to explode and found it hard to breathe.

It was not until this moment that he truly felt fear towards this chicken.

Chen Nan tried forcefully to pry the chicken claw off but couldn’t budge it an inch, ”No, it wasn’t me who absorbed it.”

”It’s just you two little things here, who else could it be if not you?”

The rooster glared at him with wide eyes, roaring at Chen Nan and spraying his face with spittle, leaving Chen Nan utterly depressed— he had been spat on by a chicken.

Looking at the Black Feathered Chicken, Chen Nan secretly thought to himself, if the Jade Lotus Platform could suck a Spirit Stone dry, could it also drain the Inner Strength of this black rooster? If he could drain its power, then he wouldn’t have to be afraid of it anymore.

”Actually, I have a treasure that drained the Spirit Stone.”

The Black Feathered Chicken’s eyes lit up, gleaming with a thief’s light, and it squawked loudly, ”Hand over the treasure quickly, and I, Lord Chicken, will spare your life; otherwise, I’ll peck you to death. I’ll destroy your body and spirit so you’ll never ascend!”

The rooster’s status in Chen Nan’s heart plummeted instantly.

He had thought that this creature, being able to speak human language, must be a mythical Divine Beast, but its character was appalling— it was nothing but an old demon that could talk.

”Hey, did you hear what Lord Chicken said? Hand over the treasure quickly. I, Lord Chicken, am in a good mood today and don’t want to kill anyone. I might just spare your life as an exception. Hurry up!”

The Black Feathered Chicken’s beak opened and closed, and its thunderous voice nearly deafened Chen Nan.

Staring at that massive chicken face, Chen Nan really wanted to give it a good kick and show it that as a chicken, it couldn’t be too arrogant— there’s always a payback for what one does eventually.

”First, let go of me. It’s this Lotus Platform in my hand.”

The Black Feathered Chicken hastily released Chen Nan and snatched the Lotus Platform, examining it closely, ”Little thing, how do you use this?”

”You pour your Inner Strength into it, and then you can draw out the Spiritual Power inside the Lotus Platform to restore your power; the Spiritual Energy of those eight Spirit Stones is all inside it.”

Chen Nan coaxed.

In fact, he was taking a gamble because he wasn’t sure if the Jade Lotus Platform, this powerful thief, could absorb its Inner Strength.

If it could, then everything would be perfect.

But if it couldn’t, and the Black Feathered Chicken noticed something was off, then he would be in trouble.

The Black Feathered Chicken stared at the Lotus Platform for a while, then squinted at Chen Nan with some suspicion, ”If you two little things dare to deceive Lord Chicken, I’ll peck you to bits.”

”Just give it a try, and you’ll know.”

At this point, Chen Nan had no way out and had to gamble.

The Black Feathered Chicken appeared rough but was very cautious. It tentatively poured a thread of Inner Strength into the Lotus Platform and took a slight inhale. Instantly, Spiritual Power surged out of the Lotus Platform and was absorbed by the Black Feathered Chicken.

”Haha, little thing, you didn’t deceive Lord Chicken; I can recover my strength very quickly, oh oh oh...”

The Black Feathered Chicken crowed excitedly, without any hesitation, its Inner Strength poured into the Jade Lotus Platform endlessly, trying to draw out all the Spiritual Energy. But then, the feathers on its face stood on end, and its laughter stopped abruptly, crying out in horror, ”No, no, damn it, how could this be!”

Its Inner Strength was draining rapidly, flowing continuously into the Jade Lotus Platform with no way to stop.

The Jade Lotus Platform had turned into a super thief once again, crazily absorbing its Inner Strength just like it had done to those Spirit Stones, unending and unstoppable.
