Pokémon: My Parallel World Daughters Revealed

Chapter 106: There Aren’t Many People Above Me (Extra Chapter Just Cause)

The video continued playing.

Tiana tilted her head as she looked at the men, blinking her mismatched eyes.

”Are you Pokémon hunters?”

The bald man froze before frowning.

”Where did this little brat come from? Get lost and stop interfering with our business.”

Tiana took a Poké Ball from her waist and casually tossed it into the air.

A flash of red light appeared.

Salamence landed heavily in the middle of the mine.

It spread its blood-red wings and looked down at the four hunters, none of whom were even as large as one of its claws, before releasing a deafening roar.

”Rooooar—!!!”

Garchomp landed beside Salamence and crossed its claws over its chest, its pupils locking onto the four hunters.

Dragonite landed beside Garchomp. Once its round body settled into place, it looked down at the hunters and formed a lopsided grin.

Under the dim light of the mining lamps, that smile appeared even more terrifying than Salamence’s roar.

The tranquilizer gun slipped from the bald man’s hand and clattered against the ground.

The tall, thin man collapsed onto the floor and pointed a trembling finger at Tiana.

”B-B-B-Boss... Three pseudo-Legendary Pokémon... S-S-She’s...”

”B-B-B-Boss...” the fat man whispered. ”Should we surrender?”

”Surrender? Why would we surrender? We have powerful connections!”

The bald man gritted his teeth and turned toward Tiana again.

”Little girl, do you know who our boss is?”

Tiana tilted her head.

”Who?”

”Our boss is the largest Pokémon trafficker in the Sinnoh region—Mr. K of Oreburgh City!”

Tiana blinked.

”Mr. K? I’ve never heard of him.”

”Of course you haven’t!”

The bald man immediately became smug.

”Mr. K is backed by someone high up in the Sinnoh League! If you dare touch us, Mr. K only needs to say one word, and your entire family will be driven out of Sinnoh!”

Tiana remained silent for a moment.

The bald man assumed she was frightened and became even more pleased with himself.

”What’s wrong? Scared now? Be sensible and get out of our way. We’ll take this Tyranitar, and we’ll pretend none of this ever happened—”

”Excuse me.”

Tiana raised her hand and interrupted him.

”Who is the person backing Mr. K?”

”Do you think I can casually tell you that?!”

”Then how can you prove that what you said is true?”

Tiana tilted her head.

”My daddy said that if someone can’t provide evidence during a negotiation, they’re probably bluffing.”

Behind the bald man, the tall hunter muttered quietly:

”Boss, what she said actually makes some sense...”

”Shut up!”

The bald man turned and roared at him before facing Tiana again.

”Fine! You want evidence? Mr. K’s backer is an internal member of the Sinnoh League headquarters! I can’t tell you exactly who it is, but their rank is definitely high!”

Tiana tilted her head and thought for a moment.

”But I know everyone at the Sinnoh League headquarters. There’s Uncle Lucian, Uncle Flint, Grandma Bertha, and Uncle Aaron. Which one is his backer?”

The fat man leaned closer to the bald man and lowered his voice.

”Boss, the people she just named... Aren’t those the members of the Elite Four?”

”Nonsense! Everyone knows the names of the Elite Four!”

The bald man gritted his teeth.

”Does listing a few names prove that she knows them? I could say I know Champion Cynthia too!”

Tiana blinked.

”Cynthia is my mommy.”

The mine instantly became deathly silent.

The silence lasted for an entire thirty seconds.

”Boss, did she just say Cynthia?” the fat man whispered. ”She means the Cynthia we’re thinking of, right? The Sinnoh Champion?”

”Nonsense! Is there a second Cynthia in Sinnoh?”

The bald man clenched his teeth before forcing himself to look at Tiana again.

”Um...”

Tiana cleared her throat several times.

”My daddy told me not to casually reveal my family background while I’m away from home because it might frighten people. But you told me about your connections first, so according to the rules, I’m allowed to tell you mine.”

She cleared her throat again and began counting on her fingers.

”My mommy is Sinnoh Champion Cynthia. My daddy is League Special Advisor Asher. My great-grandmother is Professor Carolina, director of the Celestic Town Historical Research Institute. Professor Rowan is my daddy’s friend, and Hoenn Champion Steven is my daddy’s brother...”

She lowered her hand and tilted her head at the bald man.

”Is Mr. K’s backer more powerful than all of them?”

The bald man’s hands began trembling.

[Regular-Seat Chat Group]

”It’s here! It’s finally here!!! The battle of family connections! Tiana: My entire family is my connection!!”

”Bald guy: We have friends in high places! Tiana: Which one? Give me a name so Mommy can investigate them.”

”Why did Tiana only mention people at the Elite Four level? Because she doesn’t know anyone ranked lower than that.”

[VIP Chat Group]

[Diantha]: The way Tiana revealed her family connections was remarkably well structured. She escalated them one layer at a time, giving her opponents plenty of time to contemplate their situation after every revelation.

[Brock]: Judging from the hunters’ expressions, I don’t think they’ll ever dare to claim that they have ”friends in high places” again.

[Dawn]: Hahahaha! I was thinking the same thing! From now on, those four will probably stand at attention whenever they hear the words ”high places.”

[Iris]: Still, these Pokémon hunters in Sinnoh are remarkably brazen. They’re attempting to capture Pokémon inside a mine and even claim to have connections within the League?

[Alder]: Every region has people like that. They simply hide themselves well. Unova arrested a group several years ago whose backer was also a mid-ranking League official.

[Aaron]: I think I’ve seen the name ”Mr. K” in an investigation report before.

[Flint]: It sounds familiar to me too. Once the video ends, I’ll search through the League’s records.

The video continued playing.

Officer Jenny emerged from around the corner with four police officers.

Their flashlight beams swept across the scene in unison, revealing the four hunters crouching against the wall with their hands clasped behind their heads.

”We received a report that someone was illegally capturing Pokémon inside this mine.”

Officer Jenny looked over the four hunters on the ground before turning toward Tiana, who stood in the center of the tunnel.

”Trainer, were you the one who subdued these men?”

”Hello, Big Sister Jenny.”

Tiana walked toward her.

”More or less. They wanted to capture Tyranitar, so I stopped them.”

”You stopped them?”

Officer Jenny raised an eyebrow and glanced at the three pseudo-Legendary Pokémon standing neatly in a row.

”Where is Tyranitar?”

Tyranitar poked half of its head out from behind Salamence before immediately withdrawing again.

Officer Jenny took a deep breath.

”Is that Tyranitar a Shiny?”

”Mm-hmm!”

Tiana nodded.

”I was about to ask you something. Am I allowed to catch this Tyranitar?”

Officer Jenny considered the question briefly.

”According to League regulations, wild Pokémon may choose their own Trainers. If this Tyranitar is willing to accompany you, then of course you may catch it.”

Tyranitar lowered its head and looked at Tiana.

It tilted its head in thought before glancing at the three pseudo-Legendary Pokémon beside her.

After several seconds of silence, it extended one thick arm and touched Tiana’s shoulder exceptionally gently with the tip of one claw.

”Grrr.” (All right.)

”It said yes!”

Tiana smiled and took an empty Poké Ball from her waist, holding it out in front of Tyranitar.

Tyranitar extended a claw and pressed the button itself, transforming into red light and entering the ball.

The Poké Ball didn’t shake even once.

Click.

The capture succeeded immediately.

Officer Jenny turned toward the four hunters crouching on the ground.

The bald man shrank back beneath her gaze.

”Officer Jenny, will we receive reduced sentences if we confess everything?”

”That depends on how thoroughly you confess.”

Officer Jenny removed a pair of handcuffs from her waist.

”You can tell me all about it back at the station.”

[VIP Chat Group]

[Flint]: I thought those four hunters would remain stubborn for a while longer. Instead, the moment Officer Jenny took out the handcuffs, they confessed everything.

[Aaron]: Mr. K’s entire operation is going to collapse because of these four incompetent subordinates.

[Lt. Surge]: No. He was brought down by Tiana. Had she not happened to enter that mine, those four would already have captured Tyranitar.

[Roark]: I’m more interested in that Tyranitar. It agreed to follow Tiana without hesitation. Do you know what that proves? It knows it has a brighter future with her.

[Mallow]: Tiana hasn’t fought a single battle for the purpose of catching a Pokémon so far.

[Lillie]: Now that you mention it, that’s true... Every one of her Pokémon chose to accompany her voluntarily.

[Gladion]: Her strength, her background, and the way she treats Pokémon all make them believe she deserves their trust.
