Martial God Asura

“You know that my mother is Jie Ranqing. Do you know who my father is?” Chu Feng asked.

“I don’t know.” Old Cat shook his head.

“Old Cat, I shall be honest with you too. My father is a powerful cultivator, but he is a highly elusive figure. I hardly see him too. He… wasn’t around when I was growing up, and I have only met him a couple of times.

“I sensed my father’s aura in the martial power formation, which is why I can say for certain that he is the one who restored the energy in your carcass,” Chu Feng said.

“Why did he do that? What does he stand to gain from this?” Old Cat asked grimly, his previous light-hearted attitude vanishing into thin air. The atmosphere around him changed too.

Chu Feng sensed faint killing intent from Old Cat, but he was unfazed, having expected as much. “I can’t say for sure, but I’m guessing that my father helped you knowing that we are acquainted. He has done such things before. Even though he was hardly around, he would secretly do things to help me from the shadows, such as rescuing my friends.

“You should have heard about the massive explosion that occurred in the Totem Galaxy, right? That’s the protective formation he planted inside me. It is a martial power formation too, and the Totem Dragon Clan can testify to that,” Chu Feng explained.

He was being honest in hopes that Old Cat could lend him a helping hand. He would rather rescue his mother earlier than later.

But Old Cat’s first reaction upon learning that Chu Feng’s father was his benefactor chilled him. His skepticism ran bone-deep, which was unsurprising given how he had been exploited all his life.

Chu Feng had only explained so much to let Old Cat know that his father didn’t rescue him with the intent of exploiting him. At the same time, he was indirectly telling Old Cat his father was not a pushover so that the latter wouldn’t do anything reckless.“How can you prove this is your father’s formation? You could be lying to me,” Old Cat asked.

“This formation carries my father’s lingering aura. There will be bloodline resonance between a parent and a child. As a world spiritist, you should know how to verify that, right?”

“I don’t sense your father’s aura.”

“Your world spiritist techniques are lacking despite the advancement in your cultivation. Why don’t you call Lord Zhenlong here? He can testify to it,” Chu Feng said.

Old Cat bound Chu Feng with his energy before vanishing into thin air. The same happened to the Ancient Era’s War Clansmen, Xianhai Shaoyu, Little Fishy, and even Jie Shanxian.

“Chu Feng, isn’t this too risky? Old Cat is highly skeptical. He may appear light-hearted, but he is exceptionally guarded when it comes to matters concerning him. After his encounters with the War Clan, he might think that your father wants to take advantage of him and turn against you,” Eggy asked worriedly.

“It is possible.”

“Then you…”

“But he may also help me out of gratitude for my father. It’s a gamble. There are hardly any ties between us. I may have helped him this time, but it is far from enough to move him. Even if my father had an ulterior motive, it is a fact that Old Cat couldn’t have regained his powers if not for my father’s help. I believe Old Cat is well aware of that too.”

Chu Feng was betting that Old Cat was someone who repaid his debts.

If Old Cat was the type to stoop to anything for his interests, he would have coveted Chu Feng’s Ruler’s Bloodline and Genesis Bloodline too. Those were invaluable treasures, after all.

Soon, Old Cat returned with Lord Zhenlong.

Shockingly, Lord Zhenlong couldn’t detect the aura of Chu Feng’s father either. He only managed to sense it with the help of Chu Feng’s pointers.

Everything else was simple enough. Lord Zhenlong had his ways to verify whether the aura belonged to Chu Feng’s father or not.

It was a complicated process, but the outcome verified that Chu Feng was telling the truth.

“So he is your father.” Old Cat’s mouth fell agape. He was still surprised despite having mentally prepared himself for this possibility. It took a while before he finally recovered and rushed forth to grab Chu Feng. “Chu Feng, how strong is your father? Do you know where he is? May I visit him and thank him in person?”

“I told you earlier I hardly see him too, so I don’t know where or how strong he is,” Chu Feng replied. “I don’t think there is a need to probe deeper now that you know who your benefactor is. You should focus more on how you can repay the debt.”

“I need to find your father first to repay the debt,” Old Cat said.

“What if there’s a way to repay the debt without finding my father?”

“How do I do that?”

“The son inherits the father’s favors.”

“Ah? What does that phrase mean? I have only heard about sons repaying their fathers’ debt,” Old Cat scoffed.

“How uncultured! It means that if you want to repay a debt, you can choose to repay the son instead,” Chu Feng said.

“Bullshit! I have never heard of that phrase before. Did you invent it?” Old Cat snorted.

“That’s right, I invented it,” Chu Feng frankly admitted to it.

Old Cat was rendered speechless.

Chu Feng took this opportunity to push his case, “Old Cat, you talked about repaying your debt earlier. Do you intend to follow through with it now you know who your benefactor is?”

“Of course, of course. You are a cunning one. Given how you told me so much, I bet you already have something in mind. Stop beating around the bush and get to the point,” Old Cat said.

“I have always been worried about my mother. The Seven Realms Sacred Mansion is at its weakest ever now that Jie Tianran is stuck in God’s Era. I want you to accompany me to the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion and investigate how my mother is faring,” Chu Feng said.
