Martial God Asura

“Brother, are you sure you’re fine? You should go out if you can’t make it. Big brother is waiting for me.”

Despite Little Fishy’s disdainful words, her eyes were filled with worry. She was worried that her older brother couldn’t withstand the energy, and she didn’t want him to push himself.

“You go ahead first. I’ll wait a little longer.”

Cold sweat trickled down Xianhai Shaoyu’s back. Despite his best attempt to look fine, his body was showing that he was strained.

Little Fishy didn’t leave. She often bickered with Xianhai Shaoyu, but that didn’t mean she was any less concerned about him.

“Brother Shaoyu, we are in no rush. You slowly adapt to it,” Chu Feng said, but his voice was nearer than expected.

He had walked over out of worry about Xianhai Shaoyu.

“Brother Chu Feng, I’m fine. You go ahead first.”

Xianhai Shaoyu squeezed out a smile to reassure Chu Feng, not wanting to delay the latter.

“No rush. That elder has already waited tens of thousands of years. A while more won’t hurt,” Chu Feng smiled.

Xianhai Shaoyu smiled too. He understood that Chu Feng was worried about him.

Fortunately, he was a prodigy among prodigies, despite not to the extent of Chu Feng and his little sister. It didn’t take him long to adapt to the energy. His face was drenched in cold sweat, but he had stopped perspiring, and his face wasn’t that pale anymore.

He wiped off his sweat, and the trio headed deeper into the cavern.

The further they ventured, the stronger the shockwaves. A weird noise could also vaguely be heard in the background.

“Brother Chu Feng, little sister, do you hear that?” Xianhai Shaoyu asked.

“You heard that too? I thought it was my imagination,” Little Fishy replied.

The two siblings turned to Chu Feng.

Chu Feng, as a world spiritist, was much more discerning when it came to such matters.

“This energy is filled with resentment, almost as if it is a manifestation of resentment,” Chu Feng replied.

“Resentment? How could there be such terrifying resentment?” Xianhao Shaoyu exclaimed.

“I don’t know. It’s a guess,” Chu Feng replied with a smile.

“Brother Chu Feng, your guesses are scaring me.”

Xianhai Shaoyu’s clattering teeth betrayed his fear.

An entity whose resentment harnessed such tremendous prowess must be a formidable figure. The thought of it sent shivers down his spine.

Grar!

Whoosh!

The sounds grew increasingly high-pitched. They sounded reminiscent of wails and growls, but in truth, they were just the sounds of the wind.

As they went in deeper, the energy morphed into a whirlwind that raged at the trio while letting out unnerving screeches. The cavern was extremely deep. The deeper they went, the stronger the shockwaves.

It took Xianhai Shaoyu longer than the other two, but he managed to cope with it even though it still took a strain on him.

The energy didn’t just attack their minds; it also hindered their vision. Under such circumstances, they dared not to hasten their footsteps. Every step they took was done with utmost prudence.

It was a distance that would have otherwise taken them an instant to travel, but they took six hours before finally arriving at the cavern’s end.

There, they saw a massive hole that resembled a volcano’s crater. That was where the energy disrupting their minds was coming from.

Above the hole floated a copper item covered in rust. It emanated the Ancient Era’s aura.

On the ground near the hole was a copper staff. The copper staff was also covered in rust, and it emanated the Ancient Era’s aura as well.

That was the forbidden treasure and the staff that could destroy it, as Jie Shanxian mentioned.

“Big brother, can you pick it up remotely?”

Little Fishy was worried that there would be danger if they went too close.

The forbidden treasure looked extraordinary at first glance. Even after depleting half of its energy, its ability to imprison someone of Jie Shanxian’s caliber suggested that it was far more powerful than them.

Chu Feng directed his hand toward the staff and exerted both his martial power and spirit power, but he was unable to remotely pick up the staff.

“It doesn’t look like I can do it remotely. It’s fine. Wait here for me.”

Chu Feng wasn’t sure if it would be dangerous, so he decided to approach alone.

He was able to pick up the staff with his hand, and he proceeded to violently smash it down on the forbidden treasure.

Clang!

The copper staff instantaneously shattered like glass.

Cracks swiftly crept all over the forbidden treasure before it crumbled apart.

Uwa!

A woman’s scream of agony sounded from the cavern’s corner. Looking over, a woman was squatting there. She was the one who made that noise.

She wasn’t there before.

Her hair was unkempt. It was the female ghost Jie Shanxian disguised as.

There was no doubt she was Jie Shanxian, just that she had disguised herself to prevent Xianhai Shaoyu and Little Fishy from seeing her true appearance.

“What’s wrong, elder? Is it the energy here?” Chu Feng asked.

“Stow away the treasure! Stow away the treasure!” Jie Shanxian urged.

Chu Feng released his spirit power with a wave of his sleeve and formed a small spatial formation. He stowed away the shattered forbidden treasure and staff in it, along with the treasure that was previously blocking the entrance of this passageway.

The formation contracted until it was the size of a bead.

Chu Feng handed the bead to Jie Shanxian.

“I’ll need time to adapt to the energy. It’s too strong,” Jie Shanxian said as she took the bead.

Chu Feng was right. She was in pain because she was unable to withstand the energy here. While hissing in pain, she glanced at Chu Feng, followed by Little Fishy and Xianhai Shaoyu, and asked, “Are all of you all right?”

She was surprised as she hadn’t expected Xianhai Shaoyu and Little Fishy to make it this far. Their performance far exceeded her expectations.

“Elder, the two of them are fine, but it took me some time to adapt to the energy, and even so, I only barely made it here,” Xianhai Shaoyu replied.

Jie Shanxian clenched her jaws to stop herself from groaning in pain, but Chu Feng could tell from her warped expression and increased intensity of trembling that her pain wasn’t lessening in the least.

Moments later, Jie Shanxian turned to Xianhai Shaoyu and asked, “Is it possible to adapt to this energy?”

Her pained expression showed that she was unable to adapt to the energy.

“I managed to do it somehow.” Xianhai Shaoyu shrugged with a smug grin.

As much as others viewed him as a prodigy, Xianhai Shaoyu himself knew that he was a prodigy too. In his view, it was only normal for others to fail at what he could do.
