“You’re acquainted with that cat demon?”

The Ancient Era’s War Clansmen looked at Chu Feng with eyes brimming with hostility. Even their clan chief couldn’t maintain his previous composure. He stowed away the copper cauldron and pulled his clansmen behind him.

“Calm down, Lord Clan Chief and elders. I know a cat demon who looks identical to the one I saw today, but we aren’t close. He even scammed me once. On top of that, the cat demon I know is far weaker and has a different disposition from the one who attacked the Ancient Era’s War Clan today. So, I can’t be sure if they are the same cat demon. I’m thinking that they might just be from the same clan.

“In any case, please put your hearts at ease. I’ll help you vanquish the cat demon regardless of whether it is the one I know or not,” Chu Feng explained.

The Ancient Era’s War Clansmen breathed a sigh of relief, though they continued to keep their guards up against Chu Feng. What he had just divulged was too shocking, after all.

“Young friend Chu Feng, that cat demon is cunning. You mustn’t pity him. Any opening you reveal may spell the end of not just our Ancient Era’s War Clan but the three of you too. If he ever escapes from here, he will become a disaster for the world of cultivation!” the clan chief reminded.

“Don’t worry, Lord Clan Chief. I’m only seeking to persuade the Heavenly Dragon World Spiritist. I won’t show mercy to that cat demon,” Chu Feng promised.

The Ancient Era’s War Clansmen remained fully vigilant in the time to come, knowing that the Heavenly Dragon World Spiritist and the cat demon would soon return. No one left to cultivate or to rest.

The following day, Old Cat and Lord Zhenlong appeared in the same place they attacked.

By the time Chu Feng and the others rushed to the scene, Old Cat had already begun absorbing the treasure’s energy. It could be because Old Cat figured out a more efficient method, but he was absorbing the energy much faster than yesterday.“Young friend Chu Feng, must you have a talk with the Heavenly Dragon World Spiritist?” the clan chief asked.

“Let me give it a try,” Chu Feng said.

“All right.”

The clan chief took out his token and turned the section of the black wall before them transparent. This time, those outside could peer in too. They could now talk freely and exchange voice transmissions.

Chu Feng sent a voice transmission to Old Cat and Lord Zhenlong right away to inform them about the situation. He told them to pretend that it was their first time seeing him here.

Lord Zhenlong’s acting was surprisingly good. His shock looked genuine as he exclaimed, “Young friend Chu Feng, why are you here?”

“Elder, it’s a long story. I have some ties with the Ancient Era’s War Clan. May I know why you have joined hands with the cat demon to attack them?” Chu Feng asked.

Old Cat suddenly stopped absorbing the treasure’s energy and berated, “Chu Feng, who are you insulting? Your head must be getting big for you to dare call me a demon!”

“It is you, cat demon! So what if I insult you? Have you forgotten how you scammed me? Hmph, you hid your strength well. I didn’t expect you to be this formidable,” Chu Feng sneered.

“I could say the same for you too. I didn’t expect you to be Jie Ranqing’s son. And those two behind you are the Immortal Sea Fish Clan’s young master and young miss, right? The rumors that you can close with them are indeed true. But Chu Feng, you won’t be able to save anyone here. Surrender, and I’ll consider sparing your lives. Otherwise, I’ll kill you no matter who your backing is!” Old Cat sneered domineeringly.

His killing intent was so intense that it didn’t seem to be a lie.

This lent credence to Chu Feng’s previous claim that he was not on good terms with Old Cat, and the Ancient Era’s War Clansmen finally loosened some of their tension.

“Young friend Chu Feng, are you here to help the Ancient Era’s War Clan? You mustn’t be fooled by them. This old cat might have done you injustice in the past, but he is here to reclaim his possession. The Ancient Era’s War Clan has done many evil deeds and deserves to die a thousand times over!” Lord Zhenlong said.

Those words provoked infuriated responses from the Ancient Era’s War Clansmen. Their words were as awful as one could imagine. In gist, they were criticizing Lord Zhenlong and Old Cat for besmirching them even though they were the invaders.

Amidst the furious exchange of words, Old Cat slowly fell silent as his killing intent flared.

Lord Zhenlong impassively spoke aloud, “In the early years of the present era, the War Clansmen stumbled upon a severely wounded Ancient Era’s saint beast. That saint beast was restrained by a treasure and was unable to move, but he still gave cultivation pointers to them. To accelerate their growth, he gave them his flesh and blood to consume and taught them how to assimilate them. He hoped that the War Clan could one day grow strong enough to free him.

“The War Clan grew swiftly under the saint beast’s help, but instead of finding ways to free the saint beast, they severed more of the saint beast’s flesh and blood without his permission. When they learned that the saint beast couldn’t stop them, they feasted on his flesh, gulped his blood, tore his skin, and ripped his tendons. They stole his everything and used them as cultivation resources. They refused to spare the saint beast even after it breathed its last. They researched ways to squeeze whatever they could from his remaining carcass.”

At this point, Lord Zhenlong turned to Old Cat and declared, “Old Cat is that Ancient Era’s saint beast.”
