Martial God Asura

Shoosh!

With a wave of his hand, the Ancient Era’s War Clan’s Clan Chief delivered three tokens before Chu Feng, Little Fishy, and Xianhai Shaoyu. “Young friends, I’m embarrassed to ask this of you, but can you lend us a helping hand?”

It was a request coming directly from the clan chief; it wouldn’t be good for Chu Feng and the others to turn him down. Thus, they took the tokens.

With their talent, they had already figured out how to use the tokens by the time they lay their hands on them. They were supposed to channel it with their bloodline power.

This was a bloodline formation infused with spirit power, so Chu Feng’s world spiritist bloodline was the ideal medium to channel it.

Their participation greatly strengthened the formation.

The Ancient Era’s War Clansmen sensed the sudden addition of three powerful, foreign bloodlines in the formation and reflexively turned to Chu Feng and the others.

However, Chu Feng paid no heed to the attention on him.

Old Cat was a cunning, selfish individual, but Chu Feng had been through a fair bit with him. Naturally, he wouldn’t just listen to the Ancient Era’s War Clan’s one-sided story. He wanted to ask Old Cat what was going on and get to the bottom of this matter.

Through the token, he found a chance to do so.

The token channeled his bloodline power into the black wall, and it happened that Old Cat was also channeling his energy to attack the black wall. This meant that he could use the black wall as a medium of communication between them.

Since the Ancient Era’s War Clansmen were not skilled in world spiritist techniques, Chu Feng was confident of sending voice transmissions to Old Cat without them noticing. Still, he opted for a more convoluted method to be doubly safe, so it took him some time and effort.

“Old Cat, it’s me. I’m Chu Feng. I’m currently in the Ancient Era’s War Clan. What brings you here? What grudges do you have with the Ancient Era’s War Clan?”

Chu Feng finally succeeded in sending a voice transmission to Chu Feng, but there was no response. It was as if Old Cat had been stripped of his thoughts and feelings, rendering him unable to answer.

So, Chu Feng assessed Old Cat via the formation.

Old Cat was overflowing with killing intent; he was not his usual self. His body was still insignificantly small, but he gave off a terrifying aura.

“Is this not the Old Cat I know? But that’s the smoking pipe he usually carries,” Chu Feng murmured.

The other party looked exactly like Old Cat, but the feeling he gave off was different from the Old Cat he knew.

Old Cat felt like a scheming scum, whereas the cat demon before him felt like an exceedingly dangerous feral beast.

“Young friend Chu Feng?”

Chu Feng suddenly heard a youth’s voice. It was from outside the black wall. Taken aback, he quickly turned his gaze from Old Cat to the Heavenly Dragon World Spiritist.

“You are?” Chu Feng asked.

It sounded like the other party recognized him.

“Have you already forgotten about me?” the voice echoed once more, but this time, it was a familiar old man’s voice rather than a youth’s.

Chu Feng widened his eyes. It finally dawned on him why that Heavenly Dragon World Spiritist had looked so familiar to him. He replied probingly, “Lord Zhenlong?”

Lord Zhenlong used to be the Totem Dragon Clan’s honorary grand elder. That position was later taken over by Bai Yunqing’s master, Taishi Xingzhong, when he left the Totem Dragon Clan due to his advanced age.

This happened a long time ago. Since his retirement, Lord Zhenlong had never appeared in public, so most people assumed he was dead.

Later, Chu Feng stumbled upon Lord Zhenlong’s remnant.

It was there he first met Bai Yunqing, and together with Old Cat, the three of them competed over Lord Zhenlong’s legacy. Chu Feng eventually acquired the clue to Lord Zhenlong’s legacy, and it was while searching for the legacy that he met Yue Ling.

The legacy was of tremendous help to Chu Feng.

His world spiritist techniques and control of spirit power were lagging far behind his peers then, so much so that he was weaker than Bai Yunqing when they first crossed blows.

It was because of Lord Zhenlong’s legacy that his world spiritist techniques and control of spirit power improved by leaps and bounds, reaching an unprecedented height.

The Lord Zhenlong he met back then was just a formation entity, so he assumed that the real Lord Zhenlong was already dead. Who could have thought that he was still alive, not to mention he had become much younger?

“I already knew you were an unpolished gem back then, but your rapid growth astounds me nevertheless. It truly is God’s Era,” the Heavenly Dragon World Spiritist remarked.

This further verified he was Lord Zhenlong.

“What’s going on, Lord Zhenlong? How did you end up with Old Cat? Is this Old Cat?” Chu Feng asked.

“The remnant you stumbled upon back then was my hiding spot. I was in closed-door training there in hopes of being born anew. I succeeded, and my cultivation grew by leaps and bounds. The cat demon beside me is indeed Old Cat. He told me about his encounters with you, so I know that you have some ties. However, he is in a peculiar state at the moment and is unable to communicate with you. What about you? How did you get here?” Lord Zhenlong asked.

Chu Feng told Lord Zhenlong about how he ended here. He thought Lord Zhenlong was more credible than the Ancient Era’s War Clan.

“I see. Chu Feng, I presume the Ancient Era’s War Clan painted Old Cat to be the villain, right?” Lord Zhenlong asked with a chuckle.

“Indeed. They told me he colluded with Zhan Haichuan to steal their treasure. Lord Zhenlong, can you tell me why the two of you are attacking the Ancient Era’s War Clan?” Chu Feng asked.

“Since you came here for the treasure, we should start by talking about the treasure. The Ancient Era’s War Clan isn’t an Ancient Era’s race. They are from the present era. They name themselves the Ancient Era’s War Clan because they obtained an Ancient Era’s treasure that allows them to cultivate much faster than other cultivators.

“The Ancient Era’s War Clan might look weak now, but they were one of the powers who wielded the potential to dominate the world of cultivation back then. Do you know why there isn’t much news about them despite their overwhelming strength?

“That’s because their clansmen spent most of their time in closed-door training all this while. When their founder thought they were strong enough to dominate the world of cultivation, he led their elites out to the strongest galaxy then, the Ancestral Martial Galaxy, hoping to make a name for themselves right away.

“Yet, when they arrived at the Ancestral Martial Galaxy, before they could challenge any of its major powers, they stumbled upon a little-known, mysterious sect. Their founder thought they could start by sinking their blade into this sect, but they were utterly decimated by that sect.

“The Ancient Era’s War Clansmen lost their faith and scattered all over the universe. Their founder went back into closed-door training, and his descendants thought that they would exact vengeance on the Ancestral Martial Galaxy once he returned.

“When their founder finally broke out of his closed-door training, he constructed this protective formation and led his clan’s elites into the Ninth Galaxy. There were rumors within their clan that their founder benefited greatly from the treasure, and he received an epiphany about the Ninth Galaxy.

“No matter the reason, if one thing can be certain, the Ancient Era’s War Clan reached their current heights thanks to that Ancient Era’s treasure. Even the bloodline they are so proud of originated from it. And that treasure belongs to Old Cat,” Lord Zhenlong said.
