Holding Their Own Space, the Family Returns to the Apocalypse

159: Film whatever you want, who cares?Ai Yue was the same; her stockpile of firearms and ammunition had been nearly exhausted over the past few years, and she hadn’t had a chance to replenish it. Now, at the auction, she naturally intended to restock.

At the very beginning, the items being auctioned were all light weapons. Ai Yue wasn’t short on those, so she didn’t bid. It wasn’t until bullets were up for auction that she made her move.

Whenever bullets were auctioned, she would definitely bid. The wealthy people there all had missions to complete and didn’t dare to stack money as aggressively as Ai Yue. Those who didn’t have other goals didn’t have as much money as she did.

Thus, as long as bullets were being auctioned, she was sure to bid and win them.

”Ai—Sister Ai Yue, how many are you going to bid for? Leave some for others,” Gong Qiumu said from the side, watching her actions with wide-eyed shock.

Ai Yue acted with an air of ”whoever dares to compete with me, I’ll crush them with money.” Gong Qiumu was beyond words; this sister of hers was just too rich.

Where did she get so many transparent stones?

Ai Yue gave Gong Qiumu a nonchalant glance. ”I have money! I’ll bid if I want to!”

Gong Qiumu was stifled, his mouth opening and closing. He really wanted to ask: how are those people who bought the light firearms supposed to use them if they can’t get any bullets? Without bullets, aren’t those light weapons bought for nothing?

Ai Yue didn’t feel much of a burden. At an auction, the highest bidder naturally wins. She had money and could bid on whatever she wanted; who could stop her?

Most of the bullets were taken by Ai Yue, totaling fifty boxes. She ”kindly” refrained from bidding on the remaining ten boxes.

This was mainly because Ai Yue was being boycotted by everyone. In the end, the Auction House added ten more boxes of bullets and prohibited her from participating in the bidding for them. Only then did everyone’s dissatisfaction subside.

For the heavy weapons that followed, Ai Yue naturally didn’t give up and wanted to continue adding them to her collection.

Unexpectedly, the Auction House added a temporary rule: each private booth and each seat in the first-floor hall only had one chance to bid on each type of heavy weapon.

Ai Yue couldn’t help but find it funny. Wasn’t this specifically to guard against her?

They were afraid she would sweep all the heavy weapons as well.

However, Ai Yue truly did have that intention. Who would ever think they had too many weapons? Since she had the ability to bid, the more the better.

In the end, Ai Yue only managed to win one tank. She had wanted to bid on an artillery piece as well, but was ruthlessly stopped by the Auction House.

Ai Yue turned her gaze toward Gong Qiumu, who had been by her side. Gong Qiumu shuddered under her gaze, instantly understanding her intent.

”My dear sister, please don’t look at me. I can’t get you artillery. For other things, I still have the authority to pull some strings for you, but firearms are really out of the question!

The specific quantity of firearms is recorded by the Base. Without a joint decision from several leaders, no one is qualified to touch the firearms, especially heavy weapons and weapons of mass destruction!”

Seeing Gong Qiumu’s terrified expression, Ai Yue could only drop the idea of having him help her get a few.

”I get it. What are you panicking for? I won’t ask you for them.”

”Sister, do you want bullets? I can get you a few more boxes of bullets, but anything else is really impossible!”

”Bullets, huh? Bullets are fine too. I won’t let you help for nothing; I’ll give you ten transparent stones as pocket money!” Ai Yue said generously.

”Sister, my dear sister, you’re way too generous. Ten transparent stones, just giving them away like that.” Gong Qiumu once again witnessed Ai Yue’s immense wealth.

”Of course. Here, I’ll give them to you now.” Ai Yue immediately pulled out ten and stuffed them into Gong Qiumu’s hand.

Gong Qiumu held the stones, his expression shifting. Finally, gritting his teeth, he stuffed them all back into Ai Yue’s hand.

”Sister Ai Yue, I can’t take these. I suggest you keep more transparent stones. I actually heard a rumor that transparent stones have been researched to have immeasurable value, so you should keep as many as possible.”

Ai Yue was stunned. This was news to her. In her previous life, she had always thought transparent stones were just used as currency.

In this life, she had always thought they were only useful for her space and didn’t know about any other uses, so she hadn’t realized they had any specific purpose.

”What use do they have?” Ai Yue’s expression turned serious as she asked.

”I don’t know. I heard the auction will announce three pieces of information for free at the end; maybe there’ll be news about the transparent stones.” Gong Qiumu shrugged, helplessly indicating that was all he knew.

”I see. Thank you for telling me. You should still take these ten transparent stones; I’m not lacking these ten.”

Ai Yue stuffed the stones back again.

”Ancient Centipedes are becoming rarer and rarer, and the value of transparent stones will only increase. Are you really willing to give me so many, Sister?”

Gong Qiumu dropped his playful expression and spoke with a solemn face.

Ai Yue smiled slightly and said with a firm tone, ”Of course!”

A flash of emotion crossed Gong Qiumu’s eyes. He hugged the transparent stones tightly and said after a long moment, ”Sister, you’re so loyal!”

Ai Yue rolled her eyes. ”Get lost!”

Soon, the day’s auction ended. Ai Yue could be considered to have had a bountiful harvest. She returned to the Base with a satisfied expression, but as she was about to enter the building, someone called out to her from behind.

”Ai Yue!”

Ai Yue looked back and saw it was Gu Xiheng.

”It’s really hard to get a chance to see you!”

Ai Yue smiled slightly, ignoring the hint of sarcasm in his tone. ”Young General! Is there something you need from me?”

Gu Xiheng’s expression stiffened slightly. ”Have we really become this distant?”

”Then what do you want? To be friends like in the past? To be plotted against and threatened by your future wife just for getting a bit close to you, and then be insulted or even killed by your dear sister?” Ai Yue said with a calm face.

She then gave a self-deprecating laugh and continued, ”I wouldn’t dare. I’d better stay away from you; survival is more important.”

Gu Xiheng’s brow furrowed so deeply it could have crushed three flies. He said in disbelief, ”Ai Yue, I hope you stick to the facts and don’t fabricate things. From what I know, Cheng Siyu isn’t the kind of person you describe. She’s an upright girl; how could she do something like threatening you in secret?

And Xitian—she does have a foul mouth, but she’s still very kind-hearted deep down. Maybe she just doesn’t like you and likes to... when you meet, but she would never do anything more excessive.”

After Gu Xiheng finished speaking stiffly, he seemed to realize his words were inappropriate and wanted to say more.

At that moment, Ai Yue spoke. Her tone hadn’t changed, still perfectly calm, though a flash of mockery appeared in her eyes.

”Since you think I’m fabricating facts, there’s nothing more for us to say. I’ll just say one thing: I, Ai Yue, do not stoop to lying!”

”Furthermore, there’s really nothing for us to talk about. In the future, try not to look for me if there’s nothing important. Goodbye!”

After Ai Yue finished, she nodded politely to Gu Xiheng and turned to walk into the building without a hint of lingering.

Gu Xiheng’s expression changed, and he moved to chase after Ai Yue, calling out urgently, ”Ai Yue! I—I didn’t mean it that way. Let me explain.”
