This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

He was fucking showing off, but he couldn’t refute it.

The consultation room was in chaos, and expert Lan Changhua was taken away again. The patients who had come to see the excitement were immediately discontented and demanded an explanation from the hospital.

They had lined up overnight to get an appointment with Lan Changhua. Some people even bought scalped tickets.

Now you’re saying we won’t be seen?

The consultation room was noisy, but it was quiet on Lan Changhua’s side.

Everyone looked at their check-up results, not knowing what to say for a moment.

Left arm burns, left shoulder fracture, and irregular heartbeat—it was ridiculous.

Director Chu Xuwei, who knew the whole story, looked at the female doctor beside him who was wiping her tears, having the urge to kill her.

It was because of her mouth that she had been complained about countless times. If it wasn’t for Lan Changhua’s intercession, she would have been driven out of the Department many times.

Now, she had caused their Department’s darling to be bedridden because of her mouth.

Moreover, the trouble in the outpatient service had also reached his ears, waiting for his decision.

Disaster!

No matter what Lan Changhua said this time, he would never give her the chance to go to the outpatient service again and wouldn’t arrange patients for her. She could just concentrate on writing medical records.

If she didn’t want to write, she could just take a chair and sit in the hallway. The office wouldn’t support idlers.

Lan Changhua also knew about his condition and couldn’t help but sigh in his heart. He was indeed getting old. A simple fall and the bones in his shoulder were fractured.

If it had been before... He estimated that it would have been fine only thirty years ago.

Alas, he couldn’t deny his age.

Seeing Chu Xuwei’s worried face, Lan Changhua spoke, ”Young Chu, listen to my suggestion. If you think it’s appropriate, use it. If you think it’s not, just pretend I didn’t say it.”

Chu Xuwei’s face twitched.

How did he become the head of this Department? It was Lan Changhua’s recommendation.

And was Lan Changhua just an expert who was re-employed after retirement?

He was like a Grand Director!

Furthermore, he was his student—from graduate student to Department Director. How could he possibly object to his opinions?

Even if the old man said to add shit to the prescription, he would add it without hesitation.

This was respect and trust!

Immediately, he said, ”Teacher, you give the order, I am listening.”

”You’ve met Doctor Du who saved me earlier, right?”

An image of a young man who had been standing beside Lan Changhua flashed through Chu Xuwei’s mind, along with all his information.

”I know, Teacher.”

”You’ve investigated him, right?”

”Yes, I have all his information here. He’s a very talented young man with unlimited potential, given time.”

Lan Changhua gently laughed, ”You, still can’t get rid of this arrogant problem. With Doctor Du’s current treatment cases, does he still need time?”

Chu Xuwei didn’t say anything. His problem had been pointed out by Lan Changhua countless times.

But as the head of the largest Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Good Friend Hospital, why couldn’t he be a little proud?

Apart from Lan Changhua, who else could criticize him to his face?

Seeing Chu Xuwei not speaking, Lan Changhua continued, ”Do you know why I called him over?”

Chu Xuwei thought for a moment, ”Teacher appreciates his talent and wants to train him.”

Lan Changhua shook his head, ”You really think too highly of me. Doctor Du’s current prescription for tumors alone puts him far ahead of me.”

”Teacher...”

”Don’t talk. Let me finish.”

Lan Changhua interrupted Chu Xuwei, took a breath, and continued, ”Doctor Du already holds the title of Deputy Director. Although it is only at the township level, it is still rare even in the Capital.

My goal is for you to do everything you can to keep him here. Regardless of his age, title, skills, or character, he is the best successor for you. As long as he is here, our Traditional Chinese Medicine Internal Medicine Department will not be carved up by other specialized departments.”

This proposal was unexpected, yet reasonable.

Chu Xuwei understood that he was already fifty-six years old this year, and retirement was just around the corner. It wasn’t surprising that Lan Changhua would plan for the Department’s development, but it was surprising that he would choose someone from outside instead of someone they’d trained themselves.

However, after reviewing Du Heng’s resume, he thought Lan Changhua’s idea was sound.

Finding Du Heng’s information was not as simple for him as Du Heng finding theirs online. He only needed to make a phone call to an old friend, and he’d have all the details about Du Heng, even down to the color of his underwear.

Not to mention other times, but what Du Heng had done this year alone was enough to impress them.

With his own strength, he transformed a Health Clinic into a second-level hospital. If it weren’t for the three-year cycle of hospital evaluation, he would already be the Dean of a second-level hospital.

Even if this second-level hospital was the most basic level, it was still a significant leap.

Moreover, the changes in the Chinese Medicine Department of Provincial First Hospital were also due to his arrival. It had undergone a transformation and was no longer a Chinese Medicine Department that people could despise.

Thinking of Director Li Jianwei’s evaluation from Provincial First Hospital, Chu Xuwei was momentarily lost in thought. Du Heng is qualified to be a physician of national caliber, but what he lacks now is industry recognition and the accumulation of life experience.

Du Heng was able to receive an invitation to Good Friend Hospital’s exchange because of his disease record and the recommendation of Li Jianwei from Provincial First Hospital.

However, nobody told him, and nobody would tell him.

Improving medical skills requires one’s own efforts, while the accumulation of life experience requires one’s own understanding.

If he were truly mature, he wouldn’t have held Zhao Xinfang’s ashes while standing in front of that woman’s hospital room.

Lan Changhua took a deep breath, ”The best outcome is if he stays to take over your position. If he can’t stay, then you must master the two prescriptions in Doctor Du’s hands.”

Chu Xuwei was a bit surprised, ”Teacher, Doctor Du won’t stay to take over my position? Isn’t that impossible? Our XX Good Friend Hospital is a leader in the industry.”

Chu Xuwei didn’t say it explicitly, but his meaning was that Du Heng wouldn’t be so ungrateful.

However, Lan Changhua gently shook his head.

He thought of what Du Heng had done in Jinzhou.

While in Jinzhou, Du Heng refused the offers from Municipal First Hospital, Provincial First Hospital, and the Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine arranged by Jin Zan. He stayed contentedly in his small Health Clinic, showing little interest in going to the Capital. Lan Changhua had little confidence in his willingness to stay.

Such talented young people often have an arrogant attitude because of their skills, and he couldn’t really grasp what Du Heng was thinking.

Lan Changhua thought about the problem but didn’t answer Chu Xuwei. Instead, he said, ”My original idea was for Doctor Du and me to form a cancer-fighting team to focus on studying his prescription and then train Young Cao and the others on the side.

But things didn’t go as planned, and now I’m in this condition. It’s just right for Doctor Du to take my place in the outpatient service on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. Then you can find more tumor patients for Doctor Du, without making it too obvious, and let Young Cao and the others learn the essence of the prescription.

I’ve read Doctor Du’s two papers on stroke paralysis treatment, and they are insightful. I also learned that Doctor Du already has a complete treatment plan for strokes. It would be best if you could learn it too.”

Chu Xuwei’s eyes flickered; he realized Lan Changhua had indeed brought Doctor Du here for an exchange of knowledge.

”Teacher, will Doctor Du be willing to teach? These two projects you mentioned are very rare for anyone.”

Lan Changhua laughed, ”You’re underestimating this young man. Also, you probably haven’t looked closely at Doctor Du’s information.

His two methods have already been promoted in Jinzhou City First Hospital and Jinzhou Province First Hospital. Moreover, Jinzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and Provincial First Hospital have applied for a provincial-level research project for Doctor Du’s work. According to an old friend from Jinzhou, it should be approved after the new year.

You can help manage the application process, using my name, to secure a project in this field for Doctor Du.

Even if Doctor Du doesn’t stay at our hospital in the end, we can keep him here for a while, and he can leave us with something. At the same time, it won’t mean he returns empty-handed.”

Such high regard, such blatant favoritism. That was Chu Xuwei’s only feeling.

He had followed this teacher for almost thirty years, and although he was already the Department Director, he had never enjoyed such treatment.

Because projects applied for under Lan Changhua’s name were either ministerial-level research projects or national-level research projects.

Was Du Heng qualified?

Were his projects qualified?
