Chapter 487: Chapter 489: What is Your Name?

So, he had no choice but to keep drinking, trying to numb himself with alcohol. Maybe, only when he’s drunk, he wouldn’t feel the pain.

The air was filled with the smell of disinfectant, a hazy white in front of him.

Liang Shaochen slowly opened his eyes, the sky outside just beginning to brighten. The steady sound of breathing filled the air as he slowly regained his composure.

He saw Nangong Zhongli sitting in a chair by the bed, asleep with her arms resting on the bed.

He was stunned, staring at the girl’s peaceful sleeping face, a surge of complex emotions suddenly welling up in his heart.

Zhong Li was a good girl; he shouldn’t have hurt her like this. But matters of the heart, how could they be controlled so easily?

He reached out, wanting to touch her head, but in the end, his hand only hovered in mid-air before retracting.

Suddenly, a pure face and a look filled with complexity and shock flashed in his mind.

That was their first meeting after many years, in a hotel, not long after he had returned to the country. The way she looked at him seemed to speak thousands of words. Yet at that time, he couldn’t understand the meaning behind them.

He even thought this woman was a bit inexplicable.

Thinking about it now, a smile unconsciously curled on Liang Shaochen’s lips.

However, as he thought of something, the smile in his eyes suddenly faded, replaced by a look of deep complexity.

The girl beside him moved, bringing Liang Shaochen back to reality. He saw Nangong Zhongli had woken up.

She raised her sleepy eyes to look at him. Seeing he was awake, she was stunned. The next second, she suddenly widened her eyes and grabbed his hand, exclaiming, ”Shaochen, you’re awake?! You’re finally okay!”

She cried out excitedly and hugged his hand, her eyes filled with joy.

However, she didn’t expect the man to look at her with a strange gaze and furrow his brows, asking curiously, ”Who are you?”

Nangong Zhongli was instantly dumbfounded.

Xia Xiaonuan had been lying in the companion room, tossing and turning all night without sleeping well. Upon hearing that Liang Shaochen had woken up, she hurried over.

When she arrived, the doctor was examining him. His eyes, indifferent and unperturbed, fell on Nangong Zhongli and her, seeming unaffected.

Xia Xiaonuan was slightly dazed, then heard the doctor say, ”Congratulations, the patient is completely out of danger, but... perhaps due to the severe head trauma and psychological shock, he has lost part of his memory. I hope the patient’s family members are mentally prepared for this.”

Xia Xiaonuan took a step back.

At the same time, Nangong Zhongli’s face also turned pale.

”Doctor, when will he be able to remember the past?”

”Well... it’s uncertain for now. It depends on the patient. We’ve had patients before who, due to emotional trauma, chose to forget painful memories after a coma. So, if you want him to remember, the emotional wounds need emotional healing.”

After saying this, the doctor left.

Nangong Zhongli murmured, ”How could this happen? How...”

Xia Xiaonuan looked at Liang Shaochen with wide eyes, just as his gaze also fell on her.

She didn’t know what to feel. Was it because Qiqi had inflicted too much trauma on him that he chose to forget? Maybe, this was for the best. This way, he wouldn’t be in so much pain.

But... did he really have no memory of their time together at all?

Xia Xiaonuan stepped forward, ”How are you feeling?”

”I’m okay.” Liang Shaochen smiled at her, ”What’s your name?”

Xia Xiaonuan was taken aback, then replied with a mix of amusement and exasperation, ”My name is Xia Xiaonuan...”

Liang Shaochen nodded, ”This name, it feels so familiar.”
