The Young Master's Escaping Bride Who Lost Memories

Chapter 476: Chapter 478: It’s Good You’re Okay

Xia Xiaonuan felt all the blood drain from her body as she stared at the red light above the operating room.

Three words were written above it—In Surgery.

She stood there motionless for half a minute, her mind blank, until Zhong Li grabbed her hand, snapping her back to reality.

She gently lowered her head and looked at the despairing Nangong Zhongli.

Stiffly, she reached out her other hand and held his head in her arms.

”Zhong Li, he will be okay, trust me...” She was surprisingly calm in comforting others, as if she were just an outsider.

But her fingertips were trembling, and her legs were shaking uncontrollably.

Tears silently streamed down her cheeks. She used all her rationality to control her body, preventing herself from screaming and rushing to the operating room door.

She forced a smile and calmly told him, he would be fine...

Whether she was comforting Nangong Zhongli or herself, she didn’t know.

Nangong Zhongli started to cry loudly, losing control of her emotions. Doctors came over to administer a sedative. Nangong Zhongli fell asleep and was carried to a bed and taken to a ward to rest.

Xia Xiaonuan watched as Zhong Li was carried away, slowly coming back to her senses like a puppet on a string.

She continued to stare at the door of the operating room. A moment later, she dragged her heavy steps slowly towards the door.

Each step felt like stepping on needles, with immense pain shooting from her feet to her heart, suffocating her like a knife twisting inside.

Nan Mo... Nan Mo...

She remembered how he had stood before her just fine during the day, and recalled what she had said to him.

She regretted it so much that she wished she could die.

Nan Mo, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said those things to you during the day...

If I could, I would rather you live in a lie forever than see you hurt.

But I still couldn’t control myself.

Is this heaven’s punishment for me?

Please don’t let anything happen to you. There are so many things I haven’t told you yet, so many thoughts I haven’t shared with you...

Xia Xiaonuan didn’t know how she managed to reach the door of the operating room. She extended her hand to support herself against the wall, smelling the strong, pungent scent of disinfectant in the corridor, and collapsed with a ”thump” on the floor.

She clutched at her chest, finally unable to hold back her sobs.

The long wait, every second felt like a century.

When she heard the door of the operating room open, Xia Xiaonuan almost thought she was hallucinating, as countless times the scene of the operating room door opening had played out in her mind. Each time, thinking about the worst answers the doctors might give felt like someone was gouging her heart with a knife.

”Who is the patient’s family?”

Xia Xiaonuan’s legs were numb, and when she got up, she almost fell forward. A sharp-eyed nurse quickly stepped up to support her.

The doctor continued in a cold, precise tone, ”Congratulations, the patient is out of danger. However, he is still unconscious and can only be visited in half an hour.”

After speaking, the doctor removed his hat and gloves and walked away without looking back.

The nurse behind smiled and said, ”The patient is fine, don’t worry too much.”

Xia Xiaonuan finally came to her senses, grabbed the nurse’s hand, and asked repeatedly, ”Really? Is he really okay?”

”The patient was lucky to be sent here in time, but it might still take a while for him to wake up.”
