The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Fuhai Palace still managed to keep its composure, but Chang Chun Palace was littered with shattered porcelain. Both Consort Fan and her son had ashen faces, causing the kneeling palace maids and eunuchs to tremble with fear.

It was fortunate that it was the Longevity Festival Month and on the actual day, otherwise, who knows how many wrongful souls would have been added in this palace.

”Get out.” Prince Zhou coldly glanced at the palace maids and eunuchs serving inside the palace.

A stream of people hurriedly retreated without daring to make a sound, stumbling as they went.

”Damn it!” Prince Zhou heavily slammed his palm on the small table, saying resentfully, ”How could they appoint the fifth, seems like Father never wanted to establish a Crown Prince at all.”

Otherwise, why did he choose the fifth? He’s not even come of age yet, clearly wary of us grown sons, fearing we might seize the throne.

Consort Fan sneered and said, ”A child still chased by his nanny—what can he do? It’s uncertain if he will even reach adulthood. With children his age, their nature or health could easily be ruined, and I don’t believe a ruined Crown Prince could still ascend the throne.”

Prince Zhou’s heart skipped a beat, and he looked at his own mother, asking, ”Mother, is that what you mean?”

Consort Fan eyed him and said, ”No other meaning, you don’t need to do anything. Your mother will make the arrangements for you. It’s a pity that your grandfather is still in mourning; otherwise, who knows who would be appointed Crown Prince today.”

Upon mentioning this, Consort Fan couldn’t help feeling a bit frustrated and regretful. Why did grandmother have to pass away last year? With the mourning, there’s no one to help her and her son manage.

But Prince Zhou said, ”Even if Grandfather were in court, he might not be able to help us, Mother. You forget that the fourth is also his granddaughter’s husband.”

Consort Fan choked up, silently cursing the Emperor’s manipulations once again. You see, if Min’er had been directly betrothed to Zheng’er, there wouldn’t be so many issues today, and the Fan Family could fully support them.

She licked her red lips and said, ”Your grandfather isn’t stupid. Zheng’er, if you were your grandfather, would you consider it more important to have a Dowager Empress or an Empress in the family? The road to becoming an Empress to Dowager Empress requires a long battle.”

Prince Zhou thought for a moment, his eyes brightened: ”So, Grandfather is actually on our side?”

Consort Fan pressed her lips and said, ”Whether he is or not doesn’t matter right now. He’s still not reinstated; we still have to rely on ourselves.”

”Mother?”

”You should leave the palace. When you see the Crown Prince in the future, show a little more concern. Your father naturally likes to see brotherly harmony.” Consort Fan’s tone was slightly mocking.

Prince Zhou nodded, thinking of something.

Consort Fan glanced at him again and said meaningfully, ”Zheng’er, the Crown Prince is the current favorite. Don’t act rashly and disadvantage yourself by falling into others’ traps. If anything happens, your mother will make the arrangements.”

Prince Zhou’s heart raced, and he cupped his hands, saying, ”Mother, rest assured, your son knows the balance.”

Consort Fan waved her hand, and after Prince Zhou left, she angrily smashed a prized magpie on branch kiln cup.

”Lady, calm down, be careful not to let anger harm your health.” Nanny Fan, her trusted aide, offered another cup of tea, speaking softly, ”The commotion in your palace is loud; if it gets out, wouldn’t it upset the Emperor?”

Consort Fan sneered, ”What do you understand, Nanny? Doesn’t the Emperor know what I’m like? If there’s no commotion here, that would arouse his suspicion. As for Consorts De and Hui, they’re the same. I’d rather reveal my ambition for them to see.”
