The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

When Song Ruqi’s son Jin celebrated his full moon banquet, Song Ci felt too tired to attend, but she heard from Jiang, who returned from the banquet, that it was a lively and grand affair.

As for Song Ruqi, she naturally basked in the moment, even her second sister-in-law dared not stir up any trouble, though some sour remarks were inevitable.

Once the Mid-Autumn Festival was over, Song Ruqi planned to head to Jiangnan. She had just given birth and the child was still young, making long journeys unsuitable, as also mentioned by the Duke’s wife. She suggested considering the child, leaving him for upbringing or waiting until he turns a hundred days old.

Song Ruqi was unyielding, particularly since those from the second household returned; seeing them stirred her troubles. Besides, Qi Zhen had gone ahead, and she refused to conform to the implied suggestion of arranging two understanding beauties to serve him.

Bah, wishful thinking!

Song Ruqi naturally rejected this, stating it wasn’t fully cold nor hot, making the journey feasible, slowly arriving in Jiangnan just as winter begins.

Moreover, the Prime Minister’s Mansion had connections from the capital to Jiangnan, avoiding inns was effortless by staying with family associates.

With such statements made, the Duke’s wife had no reason to hinder further, and wouldn’t the Duke Mansion have connections, thus only relying on the Prime Minister’s Mansion?

The Duke’s wife had no choice but to let her go, albeit with a less favorable expression.

But as Song Ruqi was already leaving, she cared little for her expressions, informing she would bid farewell to family at the Prime Minister’s Mansion.

Song Ci met Song Ruqi at Chunhui Hall, took Jin from her arms, and hung well-prepared golden longevity lock and jade token around his neck.

”Were it not for your husband already gone to Jiangnan, it’s not ideal for couples to be apart too long. Going after the New Year would be best; by then, this year’s disaster effects would have eased, and besides, Jin would be over half a year old, less draining for such journeys.” Song Ci gently patted Jin’s swaddle, advising Song Ruqi, ”Thus, although your mother-in-law’s wish to keep you might seem selfish, viewed differently, there’s merit to it.”

Song Ruqi paused, responding, ”I just thought the second household returned, unsure of what ill intents the woman might have, unwilling to engage in such games within the mansion.”

”You’ve been bitten once by a snake, now ten years afraid of rope.” Song Ci chuckled, ”People’s hearts are unpredictable, hardest to guard against, yet living in constant fear is too taxing.”

Song Ruqi sheepishly added, ”Granddaughter’s long journey implies years of not hearing you reprimand; speak as you will, I’m listening.”

Song Ci chuckled, ”Oh, you don’t deem my speech as long-winded or tiresome to hear?”

Song Ruqi retorted, ”Your reasoning often finds agreeable ears.”

Song Ci exaggeratedly replied, ”Hearing praise from you makes being your grandmother worthwhile, finally receiving commendation.”

”Grandmother!” Song Ruqi exclaimed in embarrassment.

”Well, reasoning comes with experience, which naturally brings understanding. One shouldn’t fear taking losses; enduring one sets a lesson, preventing repeated pitfalls, otherwise, it indicates either insufficient lessons, or sheer folly!”

Song Ruqi listened attentively.
