The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Song Ci was not averse to men, but she could be considered a person through the ages, couldn’t she? Men from future generations, men from ancient times, had she not seen enough of them? How many of them aren’t practical?

Ancient people valued prospects, and marriages between nobility were always considering family interests, weren’t they?

Men are the same, always considering their own interests, repeatedly pondering how much benefit an action or a person can bring to themselves. You might call them sly, but it’s undeniable; this is reality.

Imagine if Song Ruqi became someone who could manage household affairs well internally, socialize and entertain externally, and had an excellent family background. Which foolish son-in-law would not respect such a wife and seek to marry another pretentious delicate flower?

Oh, let’s not mention those ’phoenix men,’ but after all, Qi Zhen was the legitimate son of a Duke Mansion, not a ’phoenix man.’

Song Ruqi was still full of grievances and indignation, pouting as she said, ”Men have it too easy, indulging in pleasures outside, while the wife can only endure grievances, manage the household chores, educate the children, and be that so-called ’virtuous wife.’ Doesn’t that seem too unjust for us women?”

Song Ci laughed and said, ”Who says it’s not, but you can’t deny that this has been the state of the country from ancient times to the present.”

Not just from ancient times to the present, even in the future, there are still men who behave like emperors, while women, no matter how many opportunities or independence they have, still lack fairness.

Song Ruqi sighed.

”We women can’t pursue official titles like men, but we can still find meaningful things to do ourselves, such as doing small good deeds, which can accumulate blessings and cultivate one’s character, keeping busy so we don’t focus only on immediate trivial matters.”

Song Ruqi raised her eyebrow: ”Like setting up a Charitable School like you, Grandmother?”

”Running a Charitable School isn’t easy. If it’s managed poorly, it will mislead the children. I only started it because I’m old, have some extra silver, and have people to help. I want to accumulate more blessings and virtues for myself and the Song Family. You are different. You’ve just arrived in Jiangnan with your husband, and there are plenty of places to spend silver. It’s good to have a heart for charity, but first, ensure your own financial stability before doing any good deeds within your ability.”

Song Ruqi seemed thoughtful, murmuring a phrase: ”When impoverished, one should only pursue their own virtue; when successful, they should benefit the world. Is this the principle Grandmother is talking about?”

Song Ci nodded with a smile.

Song Ruqi also smiled: ”Granddaughter will remember it.”

”Grandmother hasn’t read much, doesn’t understand profound principles, can’t teach you much, but there are a few words I can share with you. If you want to listen, remember them in your heart. If not, just treat it as if Grandmother is spouting nonsense.”

Song Ci said, ”A person who is more open-minded won’t easily be troubled by matters. Being too serious about everything only makes oneself miserable. This world is full of things; not everything is a blessing, where everything goes smoothly. If things don’t go your way, you have to tell yourself, ’It’s time to turn.’ The more stubbornly you persist, going all the way down one path, the more you’ll end up in a dead end, truly driving yourself crazy.”

”Qi’er, you are actually already at a higher place than many of your peers. How many girls still worry about their marriages and prospects, but you? Your background is set, your husband is of equal noble rank, your husband is of the fourth rank, you yourself are also of the fourth rank with an Imperial Decree, and you have a son. How many people lack such fortune? But the more one has such fortune, the more they should cherish it. You’re still young, and there’s no rush in living life. Life is long, and seeing it all from one end, where’s the fun in that? Each stage of life has its meaning and scenery, the sour, sweet, bitter, and spicy all together; that’s what makes life, isn’t it?”
