The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Cining Palace, Empress Dowager Wang couldn’t help but feel a little emotional when she saw Princess Consort Ji in her aged appearance.

”Lady, please tell me, is the matter with Ze’er true?” Princess Consort Ji was eager to find an answer, looking at Empress Dowager Wang with eyes no longer filled with previous pride, but only with pleading.

Empress Dowager Wang replied: ”I have already sent someone to ask the Emperor for permission. Whether you can go to Chaoyang Palace or not will be known once the Emperor gives his approval.”

Upon hearing this, Princess Consort Ji burst into tears: ”How can this be? What did my Ze’er do wrong? Oh heavens, must you treat him like this...sob sob sob, our late Emperor, we mother and son suffer terribly...”

The tears, once they started, would not stop, flowing like a broken dam.

Crying over the world’s injustice, crying for the late Emperor, crying over the cruelty of the Xia family, who deserved to be executed with no one spared, too damn harmful.

Empress Dowager Wang’s forehead twitched, was Princess Consort Ji seeing the Princess Consort of Min County as if she were transparent?

Song Ci glanced at the Princess Consort of Min County, seeing her stand motionless, without the slightest hint of displeasure on her face, as if the other was speaking of something irrelevant, even though her surname was Xia, and she had the bloodline of a dethroned Xia Crown Prince.

So young, with such a troubled fate, yet she wasn’t crushed, and could remain so calm, her psyche undeniably strong.

Perhaps she was a formidable person.

Song Ci felt a newfound respect for the Princess Consort of Min County for the first time.

Empress Dowager Wang, suffering from Princess Consort Ji’s cries and feeling a headache, couldn’t help but say: ”Enough, stop crying, you’re annoying me. After all these years, the child wasn’t your own, and you, as a mother, didn’t even notice any trace, who else can you blame?”

Everyone says a mother and child are connected at heart, but for Princess Consort Ji, it’s like a fart, empty, it’s amazing she still has the face to cry.

Princess Consort Ji’s cries paused, her tear-filled eyes looking at Empress Dowager Wang, filled with resentment and grief.

Standing there, you speak without concern, while I’m here suffering, ruthlessly stabbing at my heart!

No wonder she gets along so well with Song Ci, equally sharp-tongued.

Receiving Princess Consort Ji’s resentful look, Song Ci: ”...”

Sitting there and still getting hit.

Empress Dowager Wang also felt she struck a nerve, but as the Empress Dowager, she wouldn’t admit any fault, continuing: ”Rather than crying over what has already happened, it’s better to focus on taking care of your health, before the illness worsens. I’ve heard that severe strokes can leave you unable to speak. If it truly comes to that, no matter how much resentment you have, you won’t be able to say a single word, only harboring the grief inside.”

Princess Consort Ji: ”...”

I’m begging you to shut up!

If Song Ci didn’t know Empress Dowager Wang’s temperament, one might think she was intentionally pricking Princess Consort Ji, her roundabout cursing was truly skilled, even Song Ci found it rather jarring.

Indeed, the so-called unintentional growth of willows being shaded is precisely the case here.

Princess Consort Ji, after a long while, squeezed out: ”Lady, you have no heart.”

Empress Dowager Wang nearly rolled her eyes, thinking that she hadn’t sarcastically mocked her, which was already giving her face, otherwise she’d be worried about triggering another stroke from Princess Consort Ji.

Eunuch Hai entered respectfully and reported that the Emperor has granted permission, allowing the Dowager to visit Chaoyang Palace.

Princess Consort Ji was instantly elated, immediately wanting someone to help her over there.

The Princess Consort of Min County felt somewhat helpless and hesitant; should she go too?

”You shall go with me.” Princess Consort Ji pointed at her.

The Princess Consort of Min County paused for a moment.

”You should go as well,” Empress Dowager Wang added.

The Princess Consort of Min County sighed inwardly and knelt in agreement.
