The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Smearing the walls with excrement.

Both Jiang and the Madam were taken aback upon hearing it, that’s how the word is used, yet, upon closer examination, the pun sound.

Oh dear, stop teasing me until I die.

Jiang laughed heartily: ”Mother, you really are, your choice of words is so exquisite, too apt.”

Song Ci said: ”No wonder there was a time I seemed to smell something foul, turns out it was done by the Princess Consort Ji, she really is capable, her body hasn’t fully recovered yet, and she’s already gone to berate.”

”Given her temperament, even if she were too ill to get up, she’d still go, after all, Prince Min, no, Prince Min Mansion being implicated is all because of that deceitful Ning Cabinet Minister. Alas, who would have thought it would come to this.” The Madam sighed, saying: ”Especially since Prince Min is still recuperating in the palace, his only illegitimate son has been taken, even for a Buddha, there’d be a commotion.”

Jiang nodded in agreement, saying something unfavorable, if she were the Princess Consort Ji, she’d likely cause an upheaval too, after all, a mother’s heart aches for her child.

”That Ning clan still has a foolish child, who jumped and screeched at the Princess Consort Ji, broke free from the people around him, trying to pounce forward, but was kicked away by the people around the Princess Consort Ji. It’s said that the child fell to the ground and made no sound, I don’t know if he’s well.” Jiang added.

Song Ci frowned and said: ”That’s a sin right there, she also has grandchildren, how could she... never mind, unless you experience someone else’s hardships, don’t advise them on goodness. Let’s not discuss this further.”

”Yes.”

Song Ci diverted the topic, saying: ”Now that the Ning clan members are being escorted to the capital, there might be trouble, restrain the household staff, and don’t make comments outside, also don’t talk freely and loudly, to avoid provoking His Majesty’s taboo and inviting trouble.”

The Madam stiffened and said: ”Mother, rest assured, I will order the people to be restrained.”

Song Ci nodded: ”Make sure the children attending school or going to the palace pay more attention, send more people to accompany them, to prevent any incidents from happening.”

In times of turbulence, caution is essential.

The Madam agreed again.

”As for Su’er’s engagement, the eldest said to invite Scholar Meng as a witness. Gu, prepare a suitable gift to send, don’t neglect the Princess Mansion either. It’s okay to lower our stance a bit when asking for favors. A gift for Scholar Meng shouldn’t be ordinary, if there’s none, come to my storeroom and find something, some ancient books or paintings could be useful.”

The Madam smiled and stood up, bowing slightly: ”How could I use mother’s private storeroom, although my place isn’t comparable to mother’s, I’ve also kept some good things, rest assured, Scholar Meng will be satisfied.”

”That’s good.”

Jiang said enviously: ”Su’er is getting engaged too, Sister-in-law, such good fortune, I wonder when it’ll be my turn.”

The Madam remarked teasingly: ”If you’re thinking about it, quickly ask mother to look for matches for the children.”

Jiang’s expression darkened: ”How can we matchmake, one is far away in the Northwest, who knows what the current situation is.”

The Madam realized she had misspoken and was about to make amends when she heard the joyful voices of her sons and Song Lingjie from outside.

”Oh, the kids are here.” She thought it timely, smiling as she looked toward the door.

Sure enough, Song Lingsu walked in leading the way, his face full of joy, and following him was Song Lingjie, seemingly holding a letter.

”I’ve heard your cheerful voices from afar, what joyous occasion makes you so happy?” The Madam asked with a smile.

Song Lingsu paid his respects to the few people and said joyfully: ”It’s indeed great news, second brother sent a letter from the Northwest, congratulations, aunt, second brother has made achievements.”
