The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Song Ci’s jewelry has gone missing, how could this be?

Nanny called Chun Fen to ask about Qing Ming, who was in charge of the jewelry. The latter replied, ”Last night, Qing Ming’s parents came to request leave, saying Qing Ming’s cousin was visiting, so they asked for a half-day leave. She should be at home now.”

As she finished speaking, both Nanny and Song Zhicheng’s faces darkened.

How could it be so coincidental that Qing Ming took leave when Master Buhui came to treat Song Ci? There’s probably something going on.

Song Zhicheng stood up and said, ”Mother, what are those beads? I’ll go get her myself.”

Nanny answered on behalf of Song Ci, describing the string of prayer beads as if they were right in front of her, detailing every aspect.

Song Zhicheng quickly walked out.

However, Master Buhui furrowed his brows slightly.

Song Ci noticed and said, ”Master, is there something on your mind?”

Buhui glanced at her and replied, ”From what Nanny described, I once saw a kind of stone during my younger years while traveling the world. It resembled Crystal Stone, radiant and lustrous. I’m not sure if it’s the prayer beads Nanny mentioned, but if it is, then...”

”Could it be that this kind of Crystal Stone is harmful?”

Buhui was surprised, ”Madam knows about Crystal Stones?”

Faced with his probing, Song Ci remained unchanged and said, ”In the capital, there’s a foreign company dealing in overseas treasures. They also sell stones reputed to gather energy and nourish people, claiming to be called Crystal.”

So that’s the case.

”Such Crystal Stone is often made into jewelry overseas. However, what I’m talking about is similar but instead harms rather than nourishes people.”

Upon hearing this, Song Ci’s heart started racing.

It’s over; she’s truly been tricked this time.

The people here might not know which stone is harmful, but she does.

Ores, lead, fluorite, mercury, and so on—anything with radiation or toxicity, aren’t they all harmful?

Ancient people didn’t know what radiation was; they only saw some stones were beautiful, polished them into jewelry, and healthy people wearing them long-term, could they not be affected by radiation?

Especially someone as old, weak, and sickly as she is.

Song Ci thought of the symptoms she’s had these past two or three months, dizziness, nausea, only lacking bleeding that won’t stop to complete the picture of leukemia.

If that string of prayer beads is indeed one of those harmful stones, her weakness might have been due to absorbing radiation from it, something Nan Shan and Lin Qing couldn’t identify as poison.

Damn, an old lady like her, whose path to prosperity did she block to deserve this treatment?

Buhui continued, ”...it’s said that such a stone, when kept nearby for long, gradually weakens a person, causing nausea, dizziness, and unstoppable bleeding. I once heard a foreign monk say that he had dissected someone who had been in contact with such stones for years, and their internal organs were completely decayed and oozing pus.”

Everyone’s expressions changed drastically, instinctively looking at Song Ci.

Song Ci’s face remained unchanged, but internally she was panicking.

Damn, it’s definitely radiation!

”Madam, those beads...” Nanny’s legs went weak, her lips trembled, her teeth chattered in fear.

Song Ci forced calm and said, ”Why panic, we haven’t even verified if that’s what they are?”

”But, with your body becoming this weak, neither I nor Nan Shan could find any poison, not even Master...,” Lin Qing bit her lip.

Song Ci pressed her lips together and said, ”I’ve scarcely worn those beads; it’s unlikely to be as Master described, with organs failing. Otherwise, how could I be sitting here talking to you all?”
